Yoga Instruction: A Mudra For The Chest, Cold and Infection

The Linga mudra is said to make the body more resistant to colds and chest infections. Those who suffer from bad colds, incurable infections, congested chests and are prone to being affected adversely by the mildest changes in the weather, so they are advised to practise the Linga mudra. Yoga Instruction: Mudras for Healing

Feeling ill? Got a problem? Going by Acharya Keshav Dev's verdict, you could skip the doctor for a while and knot your fingers in various gestures, popularly known as Mudras says Acharya Vikrmaditya.

 

The five fingers on our hand represent the five elements. The ring finger represents earth, the little finger represents water, the thumb represents fire, the index finger represents air and finally the middle finger represents space. Physical ailments are the results of the disturbance in the equilibrium of the five elemental forces of the body. This imbalance of the elements can be easily cured through Science of Mudras.

 The word "yoga" often brings to mind a classroom of students attired in exercise clothing attempting to stretch their bodies into different postures. A more traditional yoga class will even include instruction in breathing techniques, concentration, meditation, and positive thinking. In the media today, yoga is often associated with health benefits such as stress reduction, lower blood pressure, and an overall decrease in illness and hospitalization rates. This is the Western idea of yoga. If we look to the Eastern approach, where yoga is a part of the great Hindu and Buddhist traditions, we find that yoga is all of these things but much, much more as well.

Yoga Instruction: Kriya to reverse ageing

Here is a kriya to reverse the ageing process.

 

The body is programmed for normal wear and tear. The pranic currents of paanch mahapranas within the body i.e Prana, Apana, Samana, Udaan and Vayan are programmed to flow in their respective directions and take the body to its logical end. Our ancient rishis discovered that reversing the process of pranic flows has the effect of reversing certain ageing processes, processes responsible for apparent decay of the body viz grey hair, sagging skin and loss of the youthful physical glow.

 

Reversing the pranic flow is called Viparitkarni - a technique prescribed by the ancients to reverse the ageing process.
