Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Dream Interpretation - Flying

Flying

Without assistance

Flying in a dream is a fairly common, but very powerful event. Flying events seem to be divided among those who fly spontaneously in their dreams and those who have a lucid dreaming event and choose to fly. In either case, the dreamers report powerful feelings of freedom during the flight.

Flying as a spontaneous event often includes some special effort, like flapping one's arms, to get going. However, many people experience flight as soaring by a mysterious, jet-like power. These events are precipitated by a strong desire to travel or an imminent danger that requires escape.

Flying as a lucid dreaming choice is often of the levitation variety. These dreamers simply choose to fly because, in the reality of their dream, they know they may. This may be related to astral projection or an out-of-body experience that some people undergo.

These flights allow dreamers to transcend circumstances and acquire a more favourable or safer perspective. What prompted the will to fly ? was it danger or euphoria - and where did the flight lead?

Nonsensical means

In addition to flying independently, dreamers may fly on bikes, cars, boats, or other non-airborne equipment. These flights are generally brought about by circumstances where the current means of travel suddenly became inadequate or endangers the dreamer. A good example of this type of flight would be a bicycle that becomes airborne rather than be struck by a car. This dream may reveal a dreamer that sees dangers as inconsequential. It may also be a hero dream.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: How are your Heart and Brain connected to God?

What is the brain’s unique role in connecting a human being to what many call God? New scientific information about the human heart identifies it as the very first connection point between the physical body and its Creator source. Amazing recent evidence indicates that the heart begins to beat in the unborn fetus even before the brain is formed so it appears that the heart truly holds primary status as the initiator of human life.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Massage Bodywork Dictionary on ACUPRESSURE

ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body’s life force (sometimes known as qi or chi) to aid healing.

Acupuncture and acupressure use the same points, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses the gentle, but firm pressure of hands (and even feet). There is a large amount of scientific data demonstrating why and how acupuncture is effective. But acupressure, the older of the two traditions, was neglected after the Chinese developed more technical methods for stimulating points with needles and electricity.

Acupressure, however, continues to be the most effective method for self-treatment of tension-related ailments by using the power and sensitivity of the human hand. Foremost among the advantages of acupressure’s healing touch is that it is safe to do on yourself and others - even if you’ve never done it before - so long as you follow the instructions and pay attention to the cautions. The only pieces of equipment needed are your own two hands. You can practice acupressure therapy anytime, anywhere.

Acupressure can be effective in helping relieve headaches, eye strain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, tension due to stress, ulcer pain, menstrual cramps, lower backaches, constipation, and indigestion. Self-acupressure can also be used to relieve anxiety and get better sleep at night. There are also great advantages to using acupressure as a way to balance the body and maintain good health.

The healing touch of acupressure reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness. In acupressure, local symptoms are considered an expression of the condition of the body as a whole. A tension headache, for instance, may be rooted in the shoulder and neck area. Thus, acupressure focuses on relieving pain and discomfort, as well as responding to tension, before it develops into a disease - before the constrictions and imbalances can do further damage.

The origins of acupressure are as ancient as the instinctive impulse to hold your forehead or temples when you have a headache. Everyone at one time or another has used their hands spontaneously to hold tense or painful places on the body. More than 5,000 years ago, the Chinese discovered that pressing certain points on the body relieved pain where it occurred and also benefited other parts of the body more remote from the pain and the pressure point. Gradually, they found other locations that not only alleviated pain, but also influenced the functioning of certain internal organs. (Definition in part from the book Acupressure’s Potent Points, by Michael Reed Gach, director of the Acupressure Institute.)

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Bard

Bard (from Latin bardus from Gaulish and old Brythonic probably bardos cf Welsh bardd)

Exalted one, initiate, teacher; one of the three holy orders of Druidism -- Druids, Bards, and Ovates.

The Bards had the duty of keeping alive among the people the knowledge or intuition that there is a path that leads to wisdom and initiation. They carried this out largely by telling stories: a Mabinogi, according to Sir John Rhys, was a story belonging to the equipment of the Bards. These stories were told in such a way that their symbolic meaning might be apparent to those with intuition, but hidden from the mass. In telling the stories they used verse form a good deal, so that now in every country but Wales bard has come to mean poet.

In Wales, however, it retains some relic of its original meaning: a Bard is a member of the Gorsedd, and may or may not be a poet; no poet is a Bard unless the Gorsedd has admitted him to its ranks. The Bard's robe was of blue; that of the Druid was white; the Ovate's green.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Massage Bodywork Dictionary on GYROTONIC

GYROTONIC

A system designed to exercise the musculature while mobilizing and articulating the joints.

Gyrotonic was conceived regarding key principles of gymnastics, swimming, ballet, and yoga through which major muscle groups are worked interdependently and in an integrated manner. This system is served by a series of specially designed exercise equipment, which is built around the human body with all regards to total freedom in movement, no restriction to speed and versatility, and enhancement rather than distraction from coordination, strength, and flexibility. The motion patterns are natural, turbulence-free, and pure with no interruption, creating a bridge between contraction and extension through the rotating movement of the joints, resulting in a balanced support system for the skeleton.

Each exercise is synchronized with a corresponding breathing pattern and is performed with either a rhythm or melodic rhythmical expression, creating a gentle or vigorous cardiovascular-aerobic stimulation, depending on the intensity and speed of the execution. (Adapted from www.gyrotonic.com.)

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: The Ghost In the Machine

Maggy Harsch-Fishbach began experimenting with EVP in 1984. Although her husband Jules was initially skeptical of the phenomenon, she gained such positive results that he became convinced the other worldly voices were genuine. For the first year and a half, their results were typical of what other EVP experimenters obtain, but in 1986 they received a message that was to change significantly the way they worked.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Spirit World and Electronic Voice Phenomena

Electronic Voice Phenomena

Juergenson was a film producer in Sweden who, in 1959 while making a documentary, had decided to tape bird songs. As he began recording, little did he realize that what was to follow would change the course of not only his earthly life but of that he would lead in the world beyond after his death. When he played the tape back he was startled to hear, in among the tweeting and chirping, his mother's voice say in German, "Friedrich, you are being watched. Friedel, my little Friedel, can you hear me?"

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Vedic Gemstone Therapy

Gemstone Therapy

From time immemorial gemstones have been used by all cultures of the world. Their inherent beauty is second to no other material in the mineral kingdom. Today's science of gemmology gives much information about the physical properties and chemical composition of gemstones, but gives no information of their "healing properties". They are extremely powerful tools to aid in balancing the physical, psychological and spiritual sides of life. This is necessary in order to keep oneself in proper order. The information I will give in this section is mainly from the Vedic viewpoint. This has been tried and tested for thousands of years and found to be accurate. The vedas have the greatest wealth of information on the metaphysical properties, as well as the physical properties, of gems and their correct application to enhance the lives of human beings.

Machine : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Dream: A phone or machine malfunctions

Dream: A phone or machine malfunctions

Description: You are trying to operate mechanical equipment when it malfunctions. Many of these dreams involve difficulty with a telephone: trouble dialing, getting disconnected or making a faulty connection. Computers lose their connection with the Internet, data gets deleted, a virus destroys your files and so forth. Other machines jam, break or sometimes become actively malevolent.

Frequency: Machine malfunction dreams are only moderately common. Some people have them often, others seldom. They usually arise when you feel anxious about making an emotional connection; sometimes they refer to mechanical difficulties with your body.

Usual meanings: You feel as though you can't seem to connect, can't reach him or her, that you keep losing touch. You can't reach someone on an emotional level, or feel that something in your body is not working properly.

Questions to ask yourself:

Unable to communicate variation:

  • Who are you trying to reach in your dream?
  • Who does this person or agency represent?
  • In what areas of your life are your efforts to connect with someone not working?
  • How can you improve your efforts to communicate with this person?
  • What aspect of your health concerns you at the moment?
  • Are you having difficulty communicating with someone?

Machine malfunctioning variation:

  • What kind of a machine are you trying to operate?
  • What is this type of machine used for? (define it, even if it doesn't exist in the waking world)
  • Precisely what goes wrong?
  • What situation in your waking life does this dream problem resemble?

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: The new kids

"One of the most amazing attributes of the new age is going to come right out the cribs of thousands of homes all over the world. The new children of the "indigo" color have arrived in mass and are already among us. Sometimes I think this is what has been predicted as "the mass landing"! I have also heard them called Children of the Blue Ray, the Blue Race, and Children of the Violet Flame." The article by Lee Carroll is taken from the Kryon Quarterly newsletter, Issue 6, 1997.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: KARMA and REINCARNATION

KARMA and REINCARNATION

The twin beliefs of karma and reincarnation are among Hinduism's many jewels of knowledge. Others include dharma or our pattern of religious conduct, worshipful communion with God and Gods, the necessary guidance of the Sat Guru, and finally enlightenment through personal realization of our identity in and with God. So the strong-shouldered and keen-minded rishis knew and stated in the Vedas.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Taping Spirits

A different approach is called for if you're trying to record ghosts as opposed to spirits. Here, a ghost would be some kind of paranormal activity that is obvious and external to the observer. If you live in a house where strange things are always happening, or you know of a local house or area that is reputed to be haunted, you might take your tape recorder, camera or camcorder and set it up when you expect strange things to occur.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Physics of Nirvana - Link Two Realities

The Vedas describe an ultimate reality, which they call Brahman . The awareness of this 'reality' is attained through the practice of yoga and meditation. " Aham Brahmasmi " (I am Brahman) - is the statement of this realisation and identification, which is synonymous with the concept of nirvana. Conceptions of Brahman and nirvana are integral to the different schools of Indian and Buddhist philosophy. However, untill recently, they had not been subject to scientific scrutiny.

Physicists have discovered that the various quantum fields , which underlie all physical reality, arise from one common source, namely, the unified field. Our goal here is to show an overall connection between two primary realities - the unified field and consciousness.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Reach Intellectual Bliss with Samta

The word God combines with the five material elements or tatvas to constitute the body, which is an equipment of action without cause. The inert material elements are imbued with the faculties of feeling, thought and action through the organs of the body.

Consequently, assumption of doership, ego and duality arise in this state. This intellect tends to oscillate between sublime consciousness and materialism. This conflict, antar-dhvan , continues till the intellect settles down in a state of reintegration, which is samta in its unmodified source - utter sublime consciousness.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: What is Biofeedback?

The word "biofeedback" was coined in the late 1969 to describe laboratory procedures that trained research subjects to alter brain activity, blood pressure, muscle tension, heart rate and other bodily functions that are not normally controlled voluntarily. Biofeedback is a training technique in which people are taught to improve their health and performance by using signals from their own bodies.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Heal Yourself With Emotional Freedom

Can we choose to be joyful, free of fear and worry? Can we remain unaffected by circumstances? And what about letting go of deeply inflicted hurt and pain? Would that not mean cheaply letting off the hook someone who deserves to be punished? Can we choose our emotional states?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), a radical and quick-acting proclaims that Òall negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the bodyÕs energy systemÓ. If this disruption is removed, the physical or emotional pain magically disappears.

Yoga Equipment Dictionary: Astrology's Archaic Truths

Astrology's Archaic Truths

One of the challenges for astrologers is to find a meaningful place for astrology in our modern world. In this so-called scientific society of ours, astrology often looks like a rube, an ignorant fool left over from some bygone era. Astrology may seem quaint as it attempts to describe reality through a world view that has been surpassed by the scientific discoveries of the past 500 years. Our Ptolemaic earth-centered view of the universe is seen as naive at its best and downright charlatanism at its worst. But, once we step back from the dogmas of modern science we can rediscover astrology's truths, truths which are essential to the healing of our shattered world.
