Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Ayurveda Ayurvedic Dictionary on Cleanliness

Cleanliness

Thorough washing of the limbs, face, mouth, eyes & nose purifies the bodies sense organs. Best done with a bath in clean water, it should accompany brushing of the teeth (should be repeated after every meal), scraping off a toxicated coating of ama from the tongue, occasional gargling of salt water with a pinch of turmeric to keep gums, mouth & throat healthy, proper cleaning of the nose and the ears and washing the eyes with warm water held in mouth for moments (saliva being very good for the eyes). Keep your hair trimmed, nails filed and wear clean clothes. Feel free to use perfumes in moderation and feel good.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation - Magical Powers

Magical Powers

One of the great things about dreams, especially lucid dreams where you are aware of dreaming and can practically control the outcome, is that you can acquire unusual powers. These may include almost any conceivable ability needed to solve the problem at hand. The problem is that you may lose them without explanation at a critical moment. The acquisition of magical powers may come from a number of sources. You may simply conjure them from within yourself. You may be given an article of clothing that contains special powers, or you may find a rock or other object that projects power into you. The implication is that you can solve problems with available resources. However, this may simply be a wish-fulfilment dream to dispose of problems without working them through.

The loss of powers is often a reality-check dream. While you may think you have power in your dream to do great and glorious things, the truth in waking is that problems do not always solve themselves. There may be a level at which your mind is concerned about your waking bravado in certain situations.

The magic you experience could be a sign that you are struggling against the most reasonable outcome of a particular situation. Often, we are unable to appreciate the logic or simplicity of a given situation because of our desire to over analyse it.

Are the magical powers you have in your dream physical or mental?

What do you use these powers to accomplish?

Hair : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Hair

Hair

Like clothes, our hair often makes a statement out who we are to the world. Long, short, dyed, natural; however it is worn gives the outside world a clue to our personality.

If you feel happy with your new hairstyle in a dream it may signify that you are developing a new aspect to yourself and are happy for others to see it.

Losing hair may suggest that you are growing in maturity or losing your strength (the story of Samson and Delilah). Again - much depends upon your own feelings in the dream

Dream Interpretation Underwear

Such types of clothing as bikinis, lingerie and underwear, in general, are symbols of sexuality. The condition of underwear like worn, dirty, delicate alludes to your sex life or your attitude to sexuality. If you dream of proudly flaunting attractive underwear, it shows that you are too sure of yourself. Dreams of this kind of clothing can simply be types of enjoyable fantasies.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Buttons

Buttons

Most often the button in your dream is a button on a piece of clothing, rather than a button that you push. Button or buttons on clothing represent something from your physical, or outer, self . Note if you were buttoning or unbuttoning, and, from there, attempt to obtain meaning. Unbuttoning generally represents an opening up of your emotions or ideas. You may be leaving yourself open to new possibilities as you are letting go of old thoughts and ways of doing things. Alternatively and on a positive side, buttoning up may reflect a need to conserve and to pull inward, to "button" your lip or to restrain yourself in some way. The more negative interpretation of buttoning up may be that you are currently feeling bound, restricted, or lacking some type of freedom.

Falling : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Falling Dream

Falling Dream

Q: I often dream that I am falling. I’ve heard this type of dream reflects feelings of insecurity — and I certainly have those, since I’m worried my partner will leave me. To gain more insight from my dreams, what should I look for?

A: You’re correct in thinking that dreams of falling reflect feelings of insecurity. Such dreams might be prompted by a sense of failure or impending failure in a love relationship.

Dreams, of course, have a logic all their own, and can be quite disturbing. But they reflect our wishes and conflicts, and can be a tremendous source of information.Being naked.

Clothes conceal. Without them, you’re exposed. So this dream symbolizes feelings of shame or vulnerability. Whether or not you are hiding something, you might be feeling that people can see through you. Or you might fear showing your true feelings in a relationship.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Metempsychosis

Metempsychosis Commonly used for the entry of the soul into a new body or reimbodiment; but etymologically it means the clothing of a monad with a new soul, while metensomatosis means the clothing of that ensouled monad with a new body.

The new psychic vesture with which the monad is clothed -- its metempsychosis in this case -- is evolved from the monad itself. Metempsychosis is in one sense a transmigration, but transmigration is not necessarily metempsychosis; for transmigration merely means changing or passing over from one condition to another, and therefore may include metensomatosis.

Metempsychosis also means that the soul "is an indivisible entity in its inmost essence, which is pursuing a course along its own particular evolutionary path as an individual monad, taking upon itself 'soul' after 'soul'; and it is the adventures which befall the soul, in its assumption of, or assuming, 'soul' after 'soul,' which in their aggregate are grouped together under this word Metempsychosis.

"In ordinary language metempsychosis is supposed to be a synonym for transmigration, reincarnation, pre-existence, and palingenesis, etc., but all these words in the Esoteric Philosophy have specific meanings of their own, and should not be confused" (OG 105).

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Hiranyagarbha

Hiranyakasipu (Sanskrit) (from hiranya golden + kasipu clothing, vesture)

Golden clothing; one of the most celebrated of the Hindu titans or daityas, son of the sage Kasyapa and Diti. As related in the Mahabharata, he obtained the favor of Brahma and was granted sovereignty of the three worlds for a million years. He became all-powerful because he could not be slain either by god, man, or animal. But his power was used evilly, so that he became notorious for his impiety. He persecuted his son Prahlada for worshiping Vishnu until once, when Prahlada was engaged in his observances, Vishnu during his fourth avataric incarnation appeared out of a pillar in the form of Narasimha (half man, half lion) and tore Hiranyakasipu to pieces.

Hiranyakasipu, after being slain by the Narasimha-avatara was born as Ravana, who in turn was slain by Rama (another avatara of Vishnu); after which he is reborn as Sisupala, who was slain by Krishna (the latest avatara of Vishnu).

"This parallel evolution of Vishnu (spirit) with a Daitya, as men, . . . gives us the key not only to the respective dates of Rama and Krishna but even to a certain psychological mystery" (SD 2:225).

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Being naked in public

Naked : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Being naked in public

Being naked in public

Most of us have had the dream at some point that we're at school, work or some social event, and we suddenly realize we forgot to put on clothes! Experts say this means:

  • We're trying to hide something (and without clothes we have a hard time doing that).
  • We're not prepared for something, like a presentation or test (and now everyone is going to know -- we're exposed!).

If we're naked but no one notices, then the interpretation is that whatever we're afraid of is unfounded. If we don't care that we're naked, the interpretation is that we're comfortable with who we are.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation - Uniforms

Uniforms

Dreams of uniforms often point to self-awareness. Conformity through clothing is one of the unspoken rules of culture and we often perceive parts of our wardrobes as our "uniform" for particular roles we fill in life. In dreams of uniforms, it does not matter if the uniform is officially recognized or simply identical clothing on numerous persons.

If you are in uniform, and there are others dressed the same way, consider who is with you in the dream and what camaraderie you share with them. It may be that you are recalling a satisfying tenure in military service, employment, or identity with a particular group. If you are in uniform and others are not, it may reflect a feeling that you perceive yourself as more loyal than others.

A 24-year-old man reports dreaming: I am in the Navy. They have not trained me. I report to my ship with my only uniform, which is summer whites. Everyone around me is in dress blues. Nothing on the ship goes right. This dreamer, a college student, was contemplating an officer's commission in the navy. He was excited, but hedging his commitment. This dream reflected those concerns and warned him to examine the situation more closely.

Uniforms can also be a symbol of authority. Note the person wearing a uniform in your dream. Was it a logical situation for that person to be wearing a uniform?

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Spiritual Dictionary on Rising Sign

Rising Sign: The ascendant or rising sign reflects your persona – what you choose to show to the world. Whereas the Sun sign is your individuality and does not change a great deal, you have the capacity to choose the nature and level of expression of your Ascendant. You can choose the most destructive expression, or you may choose to show a side of yourself to the world that is full of optimism and promise.

The Ascendant is frequently useful in describing your physical characteristics and general health. Aside from geographical and ethnic realities, the rising sign shows complexion, hair and eye color, stature and weight. A Gemini would be rather taller than average, and Taurus might be on the stocky side, within the range of family tendencies.

The Ascendant offers suggestions for what kind of clothing looks good, what colors will make you seem stronger. The general shape of the head and face are linked to the Ascendant. The sign also indicates a part of the body that you can show off to good advantage. It may not be your favorite part of yourself, but it is one that will respond to careful treatment in terms of clothing, movement, etc. The Taurus may not think about the throat very much, but this is a key area to focus on to create a strong effect on others. Aquarians can benefit from careful selection of shoes, as the ankles are "the thing."

As you learn about your Ascendant, you will find a whole array of new considerations for how to present yourself to the world. Should you be flippant or stern, gregarious or darkly serious? The rising sign can provide a wealth of imaginative possibilities.

Because the Ascendant is the way others see you, physically and in every other way, it pays to understand what they are seeing. You can develop a whole range of clothing, movements, communication styles and general attitudes based on your rising sign. You can overcome limitations in other areas by emphasizing the positives here. In this way you actively participate in creating the impression you want others to have, and you become more influential as you project a well thought-out image.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Witch Witchcraft Dictionary on GREEN GOWN

GREEN GOWN: A tongue in cheek way to refer to a tousle in the new-mown hay. To *give one a green gown* or a *green coat* (for men) usually occurred when one went a' Maying down in the Greenwood during Roodmas Tide. Green Gown figures are synonymous with female tutelary spirits whose origins are ever present in the land - a representative of Dame Nature herself. Additionally green coats were often noted to be the apparel of the Devil in traditional lore and phaery tales.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Children and Dreams - Being Exposed

Exposed : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Children and Dreams - Being Exposed

Being Exposed

Children, like adults, sometimes dream of going out in public without their clothes on or trying to use a lavatory that is unfortunately out in an open area where others can observe them.

What you need to know:

Dreams of public elimination or being unclothed are usually symbolic of a sense of exposure. These dreams usually occur when the youngster is moved into an environment where the expectations are higher, such as starting school or going on to a higher grade. They are not an indication of incipient trouble, but may be puzzling because they tend to occur when the child has done well enough to be moved forward or has made new friends. This is a time to remind the youngster that it takes time to settle into new surroundings and that there is plenty of time to learn the ropes in this new environment.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Naked dreams - "I'm Naked!"

Naked dreams : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Naked dreams - "I'm Naked!"

Naked dreams - "I'm Naked!"

So you are going about your normal routine - going to work, waiting for the bus, or just walking down the street when you suddenly realize that you are stark naked. Dreaming that you are completely or partially naked is very common. Nudity symbolizes a variety of things depending on your real life situation.

Becoming mortified at the realization that you are walking around naked in public, is often a reflection of your vulnerability or shamefulness. You may be hiding something and are afraid that others can nevertheless see right through you. Metaphorically clothes are a means of concealment. With clothes, you can hide your identity or be someone else. But without them, everything is hanging out for all to see. You are left without any defenses. The dream may telling you that you are trying to be something that you really are not.  Or that you are fearful of being ridiculed and disgraced. If you are in a new relationship, you may have some fears or apprehension in revealing your true feelings.

Nudity also symbolizes being caught off guard. Finding yourself naked at work or in a classroom, suggests that you are unprepared for a project at work or school. You may be uninformed in making a well-formed decision. With all eyes on you, you have this fear of having some deed brought to public attention. You fear that people will see through your true self and you will be exposed as a fraud or a phony.

Many times, when you realize that you are naked in your dream, no one else seems to notice. Everyone else in the dream is going about their business without giving a second look at your nakedness. This implies that your fears are unfounded; no one will notice except you. You may be magnifying the situation and making an issue of nothing. On the other hand, such dreams may mean your desire (or failure) to get noticed.

For a small percentage of you, dreaming that you are proud of your nakedness and show no embarrassment or shame, then it symbolizes your unrestricted freedom. You have nothing to hide and are proud of who you are. The dream is about a new sense of honesty, openness, and a carefree nature.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Spiritual Theosophical Dictionary on Personality

Personality. In Occultism - which divides man into seven principles, considering him under the three aspects of the divine, the thinking or the rational, and the animal man - the lower quaternary or the purely astrophysical being; while by Individuality is meant the Higher Triad, considered as a Unity. Thus the Personality embraces all the characteristics and memories of one physical life, while the Individuality is the imperishable Ego which re-incarnates and clothes itself in one personality after another.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Digambara

Digambara (Sanskrit) (from dis a quarter or region of the heavens + ambara sky, atmosphere; also clothes, apparel)

Sky-clothed, clothed with the elements; often applied to Siva, but likewise to advanced adepts or ascetics. Customarily Orientalists render it "without clothes," i.e., naked, applying the term to Siva in his character of an ascetic. But while the word, especially among the Jains, has come to have the significance of a naked mendicant, when applied to Siva, the third aspect of the Hindu Trimurti who permeates all things in all directions, it means "clothed with the sky."

Digambara likewise applies to adepts and high chelas because of their ability to project the percipient consciousness to a distance employing the power which in Tibet is called hpho-wa. They are then mystically considered to be free of all physical trappings, clothed with the sky or atmosphere and wandering in it free and at will.

Yoga Clothing Dictionary: Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Dream: I am naked or inappropriately dressed in public

Naked : Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Dream: I am naked or inappropriately dressed in public

Dream: I am naked or inappropriately dressed in public

Description: You are nude or only partly dressed in public, or you may appear in public inappropriately dressed, as in wearing pajamas to work. In another version, you may witness someone else doing the same. You may feel embarrassed, indifferent, and occasionally even proud and free.

Frequency: This is a fairly common anxiety dream among all ages.

Usual meanings: You feel exposed, vulnerable or awkward, or you may fear that you may have revealed too much of yourself in a waking situation. Rarely you may feel free and unencumbered. Many dreams about being inappropriately dressed occur when the person is involved in a wedding ceremony in waking life.

Questions to ask yourself:

If naked in your dream:

  • Where are you naked in your dream?
  • Who notices you?
  • What part of you is exposed?
  • How do people react to you?
  • How do you feel?
  • What do you do?

If partially clothed:

  • What does the missing article of clothing do for you?
  • What is good or useful about the missing article?
  • What is bad or constricting about it?
  • What does the missing article remind you of in waking life?
  • How can you restore what is missing?
