Automotive lighting - Front position lamps and rear taillamps.
Nighttime standing-vehicle conspicuity to the front is provided by front position lamps (known as "parking lamps" or "parking lights" in North America, "sidelights" in UK English, and known variously in other regions as "position lamps," "standing lamps," or "city lights"). These lamps may be white (international) or amber (North America). In North America, further conspicuity is offered by side-mounted lamps and retroreflectors - amber to the front a ...

| | | | White light: Encyclopedia II - Marfa lights - The characteristics of Marfa LightsReports of evidently similar strange nocturnal lights in this area have persisted all through the twentieth century, and they continue today. These reports often describe brightly glowing balls floating above the ground, or sometimes high in the air. Colors are usually described as white, yellow, orange or red, but green and blue are sometimes reported. The balls are said to hover at about shoulder height, or to move laterally at low speeds, or sometimes to shoot around rapidly in any direction. They often appear in pairs or groups, accordin ...

Solid State Lighting - Technological Hurdles.
The current manufacturing process of white LEDs has not matured enough to be produced cost-effectively. Among the manufacturing hurdles to overcome include improving the processes used to deposit the active semiconductor layers of the LED, thereby increasing yields and throughput as well as decreasing costs. Problems with phosphors and their ability to emit a broader wavelength spectrum light have also been an issue. In particular, the untunability of absorption and emission, and inflexibility of form in phospho ...

| | | | | | White light: Encyclopedia II - Wormhole - Traversable wormholesLorentzian traversable wormholes would allow travel from one part of the universe to another part of that same universe very quickly or would allow travel from one universe to another universe. Wormholes connect two points in spacetime, which means that they would allow travel in time as well as in space.
Wormhole - Wormholes and faster-than-light space travel.
Often there is confusion about the idea that wormholes allow superluminal (faster-than-light) space travel. In fact there is no real superluminal t ...

| | | | White light: Encyclopedia II - Wormhole - DefinitionGiving a precise definition of a wormhole is slightly tricky. The idea which one wishes to capture is that there is a compact region of spacetime whose boundary is topologically trivial but whose interior is not simply connected. Formalizing this idea leads to definitions such as the following, taken from Matt Visser's Lorentzian Wormholes:
If a Lorentzian spacetime contains a compact region Ω, and if the topology of Ω is of the form Ω ~ R x Σ, where Σ is a three-manifold of nontrivial topology, whose boundary has to ...

| | | | | White light: Encyclopedia II - Solid State Lighting - Research and DevelopmentIn order to further the development of SSL technology, the DOE has committed more than $50 million on over 45 applied research projects, including short- and long-term projects at large and small businesses, universities and national labs alike. Part of the department's goals include developing a better quality, lower cost, and highly efficient white LED.
Other agencies and universities contributing to SSL development include:
Sandia National Laboratories
Rensselaer Polytechnic Instit ...

They are a centerpiece of Carl Sagan's novel Contact, for which Kip Thorne advised Sagan on the possibilities of wormholes.

White blood cell - Granulocytes.
Granulocytes are a category of white blood cells, characterised by the fact that all types have differently staining granules in their cytoplasm on light microscopy. There are three types of granulocytes: neutrophils, basophils, and eosinophils (named according to their staining properties).

Dictionary on
White White Regarded as the source whence the seven prismatic colors diverge, it stands for the Logos of a hierarchy. Nearly all the archaic religio-philosophies state that light or white is born of darkness, the incomprehensible deeps of universal life which is darkness only to our poorly evolved sense and mind. In this sense, darkness may often be spoken of as absolute light. As opposed to black, it mystically signifies pure and good: for example, white magician or white magic.
