What is Feng Shui: Feng Shui - What's in a Name?

Feng Shui and Names

Naming something enables us to claim it. We will take on more ownership with something that we've named, whether it's a house, a car, a dog or a favorite chair. More importantly, once something becomes personal, we're more apt to have compassion and patience with any trouble that might come up. We're less apt to cut corners when doing repairs or cleaning if the space has become personal.

What is Feng Shui: Introduction To Feng Shui

Feng Shui teaches us how to create harmony and balance around us. Literally translated from Chinese, Feng Shui means wind and water. Put simply, Feng Shui is the art and science of capturing chi with water and moving it with wind.

Feng Shui has been around since the Bronze Age. Its first mention in text is reported to be 220 B.C. It is, however, relatively new to non-Chinese speaking Americans. So let us explore what Feng Shui is exactly.

What is Feng Shui: Feng Shui and the New Children

How does the ancient science and art of feng shui relate to the New Children? Due to their sensitivities, the New Children have often been likened to canaries being sent into the coal mine. Feng shui can be used to transform the coal mine - to create more harmony and balance in our physical spaces and surroundings. Since our homes and physical surroundings are comprised of endlessly transforming and interconnected energy fields, we must develop a conscious relationship with the vast dynamics contributing to these energy fields.

What is Feng Shui: Feng Shui In Business

Feng Shui In Business

During the past seven years of Feng Shui practice, I have discovered that business people who adhere to the application of Feng Shui principles in their places of business and homes have a distinct edge over those who do not.

The Chinese have known for thousands of years how the environment affects the well-being and prosperity of governments, families and businesses. They know how to "read" the energies of the mountains, waterways, trees, shrubs, slopes of the hills, directions of the roads, and other environmental features. They also know how shapes and colors define these energies both outside and inside of structures. When they add compass direction and time to these distinctions, they can give a comprehensive picture of what any particular environment will provide for its inhabitants, and how to most effectively use that space.

What is Feng Shui: Feng Shui and its relation to other factors

Three Problems Ten Solutions

The phone rings and I answer it. Before I could say a word, a woman introduces herself as Vicki and begins firing a series of questions. Is it bad feng shui that her main door faces a stairway? What can she do about it? What happens if there is a low ceiling in her living room? Do exposed beams in the master bedroom affect her feng shui? How can she correct them?

I tell her that in feng shui analysis, there are 60 factors involved. This should also be coordinated with each resident's birth chart and personal energies. Because even if a person has good feng shui - being in a low period of his/her life path, having a personality that is stubborn or weak, having bad habits, being malnourished - all these things play a part in influencing a person's success, relationships and health in life.

What is Feng Shui: Integrating the Energies with Feng Shui

Integrating the Energies with Feng Shui

In the philosophy of feng shui, before you were born, you existed as part of the five elements in nature. At the instant you are born, the energy field created by the placement of the planets when you enter the world affects you, and in many ways, determines your lifehart" that defines your life in accurate detail and what your dominant element is. I call this your "birth element".

What is Feng Shui: Feng Shui and Stair Cases

Feng Shui and Stair Cases

First, we must understand what a staircase is before we can know how it affects us. Staircases are made up of many steps, each protruding out as a potential source of danger. When we are not careful, it is easy to stumble or hurt ourselves on the steps. Staircases are also vertical shafts that penetrate through each floor, making a "hole" in the building, especially in high rises. In feng shui, staircases are known as a source of sha chi or potentially harmful or degenerating energy. Therefore, in order to understand what effect it has on us, we must know the residents' birth elements and where the staircase is located. Different people and different stair locations have different effects.

What is Feng Shui: Defective Main Doorways

Vastu Shastra

One of the most important rules to be followed is not to have a marshy land across the maindoorway of the house. Honing such a marshy land across the maindoorway will lead its resident to rain. Allowing the drainage water to flow across the house will lead the resident to poverty. If an assemblage of people is forward talking infront of the house, or if a well is located in front of the house the residents of such a house will suffer from incurable diseases

The popular abbreviation 'VaastuÕ has somehow come to stay in the social system, particularly in connection with business organisations. With a 15 year background in this field let me try to clarify the subject so that the really mysterious nature of energies and their impact on phenomena on the one hand, and the pseudo mysticism of irrational relationship between cause and event on the other may be better understood.
