Incubus band - The band's beginning.
In 1990, while they were attending 8th grade at A.E. Wright Middle School, drummer Jose Pasillas met Mike Einziger, who spent most of his time playing guitar in his bedroom. Later, while attending Calabasas High School, the pair became friends with bassist Alex Katunich, who had recently kicked out of jazz band because he couldn't read music. In 1990, the three decided to form a music group for fun. At first they mainly played Metallica and Megadeth covers (though Jose was not ...

New Bedford Massachusetts - Early history.
Up until the 1600s, the only human beings to have lived in the New Bedford area were the Wampanoags, who had settlements throughout south-eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Their population is believed to have been about 12,000. While exploring New England, Bartholomew Gosnold landed on Cuttyhunk island on May 15, 1602. From there, he explored Cape Cod and the neighboring areas, including present-day New Bedford. However, rather than settle the ar ...

| | | | Warped Tour: Encyclopedia II - Thursday band - Current NewsIn August of 2005, five demos were leaked on to the internet. They included mostly unfinished material, but one song entitled "At This Velocity" is practically complete. The lyrics present the confusion and fear resulting from the passengers within a crashing airplane; musically, "At This Velocity" is a bit tighter version of Thursday's classic scream-sing style. One of the demos is a bit more mellow, building up to a powerful climax before subsided again. It brings to mind Godsp ...

After leaving Saosin, vocalist Anthony Green went on to work with Matthew Embree, frontman of political punks the Rx Bandits, as well as several members of the group Finch in a progressive rock project called The So ...

Sum 41 - Early days 1996-1999.
The members of Sum 41 started out in rival bands in high school. While attending a Hole concert 41 days into the summer (which is how they got the name Sum 41) of 1996, they decided to instead join up together. (This story is kind of sketchy as Sum 41's original web site on Angelfire says that Cone joined the band in 1999).
The guys carried a video camera with them and filmed crazy Jackass-esque antics including, robbing a pizza place with water guns and performing a dance to ...

| | | | Warped Tour: Encyclopedia II - The Starting Line - HistoryIn 1999, the band that would become The Starting Line was initiated in Churchville, Pennsylvania via an AOL instant message from guitarist Matt Watts to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli. It asked if the then fourteen-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in "Jamming and shit", as the message title read. Only a few weeks later, Vasoli found himself rehearsing with his future bandmates Watts, guitarist Mike Golla and drummer Tom Gryskewicz. Initially, the band had another guitarist named Ryan Altmiller ...
