Muraqaba - Gnosis of self. This is the starting level of meditation. When a person starts meditation, he enters into a somnolent or sleep state often. With the passage of time, the person goes into a state between sleep and wakefulness. So the person can remember that he saw something, but not specifically what it is. With continuous practice of meditation, the sleepiness from meditation decreases. When the conscious mind is not suppressed by sleep and is able to focus, the person can recei ...

Historical roots of Catholic Eucharistic theology - Institution. Do this in remembrance of me." All subsequent celebration of the Eucharist is based on this injunction. The primary theological paradigm is rooted in New Testament passage John 6:47-67, key to grasping how the disciples of Jesus and the first Christians understood the Eu ...

Union with God: Encyclopedia II - Fordson tractor - History

The Fordson tractor by the Ford Motor Company was the first agricultural tractor to be mass produced. It was a lightweight, frameless tractor with a carburetor-fed engine and four metal wheels, but lacking a cabin. Henry Ford achieved success with the Model T Ford, but he was not content to limit himself to cars only. He was the son of a farmer and started work on a tractor for farm use. A prototype, called an "automobile plow", was built in 1907 but did not lead to a production model due at least in part due to opposition to the project from the corporate board. Tractor design was ...

Union with God: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Hypostatic Union

Hypostatic Union

The Christian doctrine describing the union of the two natures (divine and human) in the person of Jesus.

According to this doctrine Jesus is fully God and fully man, thus he has two natures: God and man. He is not half God and half man. He is 100% God and 100% man.

He never lost his divinity. He continued to exist as God when he became a man and added human nature to himself, therefore, there is a "union in one person of a full human nature and a full divine nature.

This doctrine is called a Mystery because no one can make any sense out of it. (See Eutychianism, Monophycitism, and Nestorianism. )

Union with God: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Kenosis

Kenosis

A teaching concerning Jesus' incarnation. The Kenosis attempts to solve some paradoxes between the nature of God and of man as united in Jesus. For example, how could an all knowing God become a baby, or how could God be tempted?

The Kenosis maintains that God, when becoming a man, divested himself of some qualities of being a man. In a sense, the Kenosis is God minus something; God subtracting some qualities of deity to become a man. The opposing doctrine is The Hypostatic Union

Union with God: A Christian Theological Dictionary on Kenosis

A Christian theological definition of Kenosis according to CARM - The Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry:

"

Kenosis

This is a teaching concerning Jesus' incarnation.

The Hypostatic Union is God plus something; God adding human nature to Himself.

The Kenosis, then, jeopardizes the true incarnation because it puts in doubt the full indwelling of God among men in the person of Jesus. (Compare with Hypostatic Union.)

Beginning around 1895, several ministers of the South Union Association of United Baptists became involved in the holiness movement. At their annual session in 1903, the South Union Association excluded all ministers preaching apostasy (the possibility of losing one's salvation). About five or six churches withdrew from the association. On August 24, 1906, representatives met at the Jellico Creek church in Whitley County, Kentucky and formed a new association. They chose the name Church of God. The early leaders were min ...

Union with God: Encyclopedia II - Church of God Cleveland - Early History

Elder Richard Spurling (1810-1891), an ordained Baptist minister, rejected some of the views of the Baptists in his area as not in accord with New Testament Christianity. In August of 1886, he and seven members from Holly Springs and Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Churches in Monroe County, Tennessee and Cherokee County, North Carolina organized the "Christian Union". They agreed to free themselves from man-made creeds and unite upon the principles of the New Testament. In 1902, Richard Green Spurling (Richard Spurling's son) and W. F. Bry ...
