spiritual unfoldment: Adhyatma vikasa.
 
The unfoldment of the spirit, the inherent, divine soul of man. The very gradual expansion of consciousness as kundalini shakti slowly rises through the sushumna.
 
The term spiritual unfoldment indicates this slow, imperceptible process, likened to a lotus flower''s emerging from bud to effulgent beauty. Contrasted with development, which implies intellectual study; or growth, which implies character building and sadhana.
 
Sound intellect and good character are the foundation for spiritual unfoldment, but they are not the unfoldment itself. When philosophical training and sadhana is complete, the kundalini rises safely and imperceptively, without jerks, twitches, tears or hot flashes. Brings greater willpower, compassion and perceptive qualities.

One can grow horizontally with the help of scientific knowledge. Horizontal growth involves more of everything that can provide comfort but not inner satisfaction. Religion invites us to grow vertically, exploring deeply love, devotion and contentment.

The Enneagram is a good system of self-assessment because it provides insight into our main unconscious thinking and acting strategies. The word Enneagram literally means nine points. It is a cosmological and psychological system represented by a nine-edged star-like picture that touches a circle at nine equidistant points. Each of these nine points represents nine types of human beings. This system was used by groups of initiates of ancient Greek and Sufi cultures.
 
The Enneagram system was kept secret for thousands of years. It was revealed to the public in the last century through Gurdjieffs work. Since then it has been unfolded and adjusted to modern times by many researchers.

A book lung is a rudimentary type of lung found in arachnids, such as scorpions and spiders, and in horseshoe crabs. They are not evolutionarily related to mammalian lungs. Wars happen when intolerance reaches epic proportions, when the reasons for war become greater than the sanctity of peace. Wars happen when we fail to realise the value of being alive. World leaders try to bring peace, but it is not an issue of institutions. It is human beings who start wars. Before a war begins outside, it starts inside.
 
The war on the inside is more dangerous because it is a fire that may never be put out. Wars are being fought because peace is not being found within, because it is not being allowed to unfold.
