Definition and meaning of brown tree snake:

brown tree snake - the mildly venemous brown tree snake (Boiga irregularis) is an introduced species on some Pacific islands that has become a serious pest, especially on Guam. In the absence of natural population controls and with vulnerable prey on Guam, the snakes have become an exceptionally common pest causing major ecological and economic problems. The snakes probably arrived on Guam hidden in ship cargo from the New Guinea area. By 1968, they had dispersed throughout the island and caused havoc by virtually wiping out Guam's native bird species and helped decimate their fruit bat populations. In addition to Guam, brown tree snakes have been sighted on Saipan, Tinian, Rota, Kwajalein, Wake, Oahu, Pohnpei, Okinawa, and Diego Garcia. To date, this snake is not known to be established on any of these islands except Guam

Christmas tree coral - a recently discovered (2002) deep water black coral (Antipathes dendrochristos) observed on deep rocky banks off southern California.The species, which was described in 2005, forms bushy colonies that grow up to to three meters in height and width, and resembles ornamented Christmas trees. Assyrian Tree of Life. "Asherah" (q.v.). It is translated in the Bible by "grove " and occurs 30 times. It is called an "idol"; and Maachah, the grandmother of Asa, King of Jerusalem, is accused of having made for herself such an idol, which was a lingham. For centuries this was a religious rite in Judea.

But the original Asherah was a pillar with seven branches on each side surmounted by a globular flower with three projecting rays, and no phallic stone, as the Jews made of it, but a metaphysical symbol. "Merciful One, who dead to life raises! was the prayer uttered before the Asherah, on the banks of the Euphrates. The "Merciful One", was neither the personal god of the Jews who brought the "grove" from their captivity, nor any extra- cosmic god, but the higher triad in man symbolized by the globular flower with its three rays.

Tree of Life: Cabalism, at least in the Western occult tradition, is built around a diagram called the Tree of Life. This diagram contains ten circles representing the Sephiroth (singular: Sephirah); that is, the "spheres," "numbers," or "emanations." The Sephiroth are the numbers 1 through 10 considered in their archetypal sense. Each Sephirah is an archetypal idea. Also, the Sephiroth represent emanations from God and describe the process of creation. In the material world, they represent the heavenly spheres according to the classical conception.

Bo Tree: Also called the Bodhi Tree. The tree Gautama Siddharta sat under, and when he arose he was the Buddha. According to tradition this was an asvattha tree, though there is no historical evidence to support this belief.

Tree of Life

(1)  The Tree of Life is the central feature of Kabbalah. According to the teachings, the Tree of Life was put into place before Creation. Everything in Creation is patterned after the Tree of Life. The ten spiritual centers or Sefirot in the Tree of Life represent the ten Divine attributes of God within man. It is, by definition, humanity's process of returning to divinity along the same path.

(2)  One of two trees placed in the Garden of Eden by God. The other tree is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. These two trees presented the two elements that form mortal existence - Reincarnation (lives) and karma (the experience of desire and aversion).

Peepal tree

Botanical name or the Latin name: Ficus religious

Name in "Sanskrit" language: Ashvattha

The "Peepal tree" or the "holy fig tree" is the most accepted botanical entity in the Hindu tradition. It is considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists and its name has been referred in the Vedas and hindu epics. The saints used to meditate sitting under this holy tree. It was only under the Peepal tree that Gautam Buddha (9th Avataar of Lord Vishnu) attained enlightenment and that particular tree was named as "Bodhi-brikhsa", the wisdom-tree. The Peepal is considered as a feminine to the masculine Banyan tree.

The tree grows in most parts of India, especially on the banks of rivers and large water bodies and are abundantly found in the forests on the lower slopes of the Himalayas, Orissa as well as in central India. The Peepal-bark has light gray color and is smooth and the leaves have a distinctive shape of heart and have long and tapering tips. The tree is also used in Ayurveda (the Indian branch of medical science dealing with natural plants and products). €€€

moxabustion: Adjunct to acupuncture characterized by the burning of moxas - preparations of dried leaves from the common mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) or the wormwood tree (Artemisia chinensis) - at acupoints to stimulate chi.

Practitioners attach moxas to acupuncture needles, place them directly on the skin in the form of small cones, or place the cones on a layer of ginger.

Hamadryad (from Greek `ama together with + dryad tree-soul)

Nearly the same as dryad, but indicating that the life of the tree elemental was bound up with that of the tree. With dryad, the mind dwells upon the fact that the physical tree is but an expression of an indwelling life or tree-soul, an elemental being expressing itself as a tree.

With hamadryad, the emphasis lies in the thought that not only is a tree the expression of a tree-soul, but that this tree-soul and the tree are essentially, and even physically, one; and that the dryad or tree-soul itself is but again the expression of a still higher monadic essence.
