ARTICLES RELATED TO Transpersonal Psychology | | | | Transpersonal Psychology: Encyclopedia II - Transpersonal psychology - Criticisms of Transpersonal psychologyCriticisms of transpersonal psychology has come from several commentators. One of the earliest criticisms of the field was issued by the Humanistic psychologist Rollo May, who disputed the conceptual foundations of transpersonal psychology (Aanstos, Serling & Greening, 2000). May was particularly concerned about the low level of reflection on the dark side of human nature, and on human suffering, among the early transpersonal theorists. A similar critique was also put forward by Alexander (1980) who thought that Transpersonal Psychology, ...

Parapsychology
Dictionary on Transpersonal Psychology Transpersonal Psychology: The study of experiences, beliefs and practices that suggest that the sense of self can extend beyond our personal or individual reality. The subject matter of transpersonal psychology overlaps to some extent with parapsychology, but the two disciplines tend to have different approaches and emphases. Parapsychology is primarily concerned to investigate evidence for and against the reality of paranormal phenomena. Transpersonal psychology, on the other hand, is more interested in investigating the transpersonal significance of such phenomena (i.e., the ways in which they may give people a sense of connectedness with a larger, more universal or spiritual reality). | | | Transpersonal Psychology: The New Psychiatry - Past Life TherapyPast Life Therapy is not for the weakminded or frail-hearted. It leads a person into the depths of his own psychological makeup, but the return trip is well worth the cost of the journey, and that cost is almost always a deflation to the person's ego! After all, who wants to believe they have committed acts that were harmful to others? Or wants to remember terrible crimes in which they were a participant, or tortures in which they have been a victim in one lifetime and perhaps returned to gain revenge in subsequent lives? | | | Transpersonal Psychology: Breaking Past Life Vows and PactsBreaking Past Life Vows and Pacts Many of us have had past lives in monastic environments, religious orders, secret sects and so on. Some of us will have made strong vows in the name of God with much emotion and determination, believing that they were right, and perhaps they were for us at that time. A vow made with strong intent carries over into other lifetimes unless a time limit is specified, which is usually not the case. We may have made vows of chastity, celibacy, poverty, silence, suffering, cleanliness, purity, everlasting love or of vengeance against someone who hurt or tricked us. All these prior vows are limitations that can constrict our souls and restrict our freedom. Read more here: » Past Lives: Breaking Past Life Vows and Pacts |

 | | | Transpersonal Psychology: Departing Or Death Bed Visions FAQWHAT IS A DEPARTING VISION (OFTEN CALLED A DEATHBED VISION)? Most Hospice workers are very familiar with departing or deathbed visions, but sometimes these experiences are difficult to put into words. A deathbed vision or Death Bed Vision is a powerful, comforting experience the dying and their family members often encounter just before death occurs. The dying will report visions of angels, deceased loved ones or religious figures moments, hours, days or even weeks before actual death takes place. These visions typically lessen the fear of dying and make passing an easier transition for all concerned. Read more here: » Death

 | | | Transpersonal Psychology: The Case Of TituDouble Birthmarks: The Case Of Titu The case of Titu Singh that appeared in the London-based magazine Reincarnation International is one of the more fascinating cases of double birthmarks. This story was first broadcast in 1990 on the BBC TV news program "Forty Minutes." The case of Titu who named names and details of his own murder made for exciting TV drama. By the way, the resemblance to the case of Ravi Shankar is not surprising because cases of murdered victims returning in a new body to haunt their murderers is not an uncommon theme in these past life cases. | | | Transpersonal Psychology: Meaning and Definition of KarmaKarma has quite a karma. Long after India's seers immortalized it in the Vedas, it suffered bad press under European missionaries who belittled it as "fate" and "fatalism," and today finds itself again in the ascendancy as the subtle and all-encompassing principle which governs man's experiential universe in a way likened to gravity's governance over the physical plane. Like gravity, karma was always there in its fullest potency, even when people did not comprehend it. Read more here: » Karma: Meaning and Definition of Karma |

 | | | Transpersonal Psychology: What is the process of reincarnation? What is the process of reincarnation? Carnate means flesh. The word reincarnate means to "reenter the flesh." We Hindus believe the soul is immortal and keeps reentering a fleshy body time and time again in order to resolve experiences and thereby learn all the lessons life in the material world has to offer. To hindus, it explains the natural way the soul evolves from immaturity to spiritual illumination. I myself have had many lives before this one and expect to have more. Finally, when I have it all worked out and all the lessons have been learned, I will attain mukti. This means I will still exist but no longer be pulled back to incarnate in a physical body. | | | Transpersonal Psychology: Symbiosis
Between Science SpiritScience and Spirituality: Symbiosis Between Science & Spirit Some years ago, I called upon the great scientist Prof S Chandrasekhar in Chicago and asked him how seers of the Vedas and Upanishads had two astounding insights that have emerged in modern science only recently. The first is the concept of anantakoti brahmanda , endless universes. The second is the concept of vast aeons of time through which creation passes, much like the ancient belief that a single day of Brahma is 4.32 million human years long, so that his one year corresponds roughly to the age of planet earth. When I suggested that perhaps this knowledge came to seers in enhanced states of consciousness, Prof Chandrasekhar seemed to agree. Read more here: » Science and Spirituality: Symbiosis
