Toxins Dictionary: Ayurveda Ayurvedic Dictionary on Panchakarma

Panchakarma

In Ayurveda treatment consists of four basic forms, namely - medicine or drug therapy, pancha (five) karma (actions/ systems), dietary regime and regulation of lifestyle. And works in two fundamental ways - cure and prevention.

The preventive aspect of treatment is further subdivided into swastha varta (personal hygiene) - consisting of dinacharya (daily routine), ritucharya (seasonal corrections) and sadachara (appropriate behaviour) - rasayana & vajikarana (rejuvenation & virlification) and yoga. The curative aspect consists of three parts antati parimaijana (internal medicine) - consisting of samsodhana (internal purification through panchkarma) and samsamana (curative action) - external medicine as massage, use of pastes & powders and finally surgical treatment.

The deep cleansing process, unique to Ayurveda, that enables the body to release excess doshas and toxins from its cells and expel them is called Panchakarma, which basically denotes detoxification or elimination of toxins from the body. Although the human body is considered as a great, intelligent, natural healing system capable of rejuvenating itself, the formation of toxins reduces that natural capacity. It is then that Panchakarma plays a crucial role in that correction.

Bentonite Clay and its spiritual properties: Intestinal cleanse of the colon is strongly recommended by Kalki and The Golden Age Foundation in order to be fully receptive for pranic energy. It is so vital that it should be the mandatory preparation before all deeper spiritual processes and as a continous maintenance of the body as an antenna of cosmic energies. Bentonite (also available at many pharmacies under alternative substance names to bentonite: bentonitum, montmorillonite) is believed to have exceptionally properties. This article from www.alternativemedicine.com desribes the genereal properties and use of bentonite.

Toxins Dictionary: Ayurveda Ayurvedic Dictionary on Diagnosis Process

Diagnosis Process

The imbalance of doshas and the course they follow to cause disease is termed samprapti or pathogenesis. Since diseases develop in distinct stages, a good knowledge of those helps in early recognition of disease. Ayurveda thus elaborates a six stage process for diagnosis called Kriya (action) Kal (time). The first 4 stages being unique to Ayurveda in that they permit recognition and elimination of the disease before it ventures into differentiated clinical symptoms.

One who knows the various stages of pathogenesis accumulation (sanchaya), provocation (prakopa) spread or migration (prasara), deposition or augmentation (sthana samshaya), manifestation (vyakti) and the differentiation (bheda) is entitled to be a physician.

Stage One: Accumulation (Sanchaya)

·      Weak digestive power and excess of dosha is responsible for such a condition.

·      Here toxins (ama) produced by improper digestion collects in the gastro-intestinal (GI) tract.

·      Toxins resulting from a kapha imbalance accumulates in the stomach, those associated with a pitta imbalance collects in the small intestine, and that related to vata malfunction amasses in the colon.

·      Due to the presence of one of these toxins, mild and ill-defined symptoms may show.

·      We should recognise and eliminate the cause instead of ignoring or suppressing it.

·      Causes aversion to similar things and attraction for contraries.

Stage Two: Aggravation (Prokapa)

·      The accumulated, stagnant doshas are now `excited’ by factors as ahara, vihara & seasons.

·      The toxins amass in such degree to get provoked in the site of production in the GI tract.

Stage Three: Spread (Prasara)

•    In this stage, the toxins accumulated in the GI tract start overflowing.

Generally, up to this stage the damage is entirely reversible and restoration of doshic balance can be achieved with proper measures. Or there may be spontaneous prashama (remission) influenced by seasonal changes. Thus there is sanchaya of pitta in rainy season, prakopa in fall and prasara in early winter. Based on degree of excitation, it might even passed the stages of prashama or prasara.

Stage Four: Agumentation (Sthana Samshraya)

·      Overflowing toxins migrate, entering and taking refuge in localised, weak or defective dhatus thereby leading to malfunction and structural damage.

·      It is from here that specific degenerating disease and susceptibilities to serious infections begin.

Stage Five: Symptom Manifestation (Vyakti)

·      Differentiated symptoms first begin to appear from the location.

·      Manifested symptoms being used by modem medicine for classification & diagnosis of disease.

Stage Six: Complications/Differentiation (Bheda)

·      The disease having taken taken years or even decades to reach this final stage, becomes chronic.

·      Offers detailed understanding of the group of symptoms thereby making clear nature of disease.

·      Might act as predisposing factors for the spread of other diseases.

Toxins Dictionary: Holistic Health Dictionary I on COLON HYDROTHERAPY

COLON HYDROTHERAPY

Purified water is gently introduced into the colon through sterilized tubes in order to flush out toxins, gas, accumulated matter and mucus deposits along the walls of the colon. Disease always accompanies toxins and when these toxins are reduced by aiding their elimination, the body’s immune system is helped considerably.

The function of the intestines is to absorb nutrients, and eliminate body waste, thus water used for colon hydrotherapy can include vitamin or mineral additives to aid the corrective process and help prevent disease.

The results of a hydrotherapy session are increased energy, reduced craving for junk food, and overeating, since absorption of nutrients is increased when the encrustation on the colon wall are cleaned. Other beneficial conditions can include: constipation, a sluggish liver, headaches, flatulence, skin disorders, asthma, allergies, fatigue, depression, candida, as well as addictions to food or substance abuse.

Toxins Dictionary: Ayurveda Ayurvedic Dictionary on Panchkarma Bloodletting

Panchkarma Bloodletting

Toxins absorbed into the bloodstream through the gastro-intestinal tract get circulated throughout the body, manifesting under the skin or in the joint-spaces making rooms for disease. Their elimination and purification of the blood then becomes necessary. Thus his therapy is very good in case of all imbalance of blood and pitta disorders as stubborn skin diseases, tumours, gout, excessive drowsiness, alopecia, hallucinations and enlarged liver & spleen.

A sharp scalpel is usually used to make superficial, parallel or vertical incisions with extreme care after a soothing and antiseptic paste has been applied to the location. The amount of blood let out should not be more than 350ml. At such times a needle should be used to puncture a vein. It is however not to be used for people suffering from general swelling of limbs, debility, severe anemia, piles, fever, thirst, alcoholism.

The real objective of Panchakarma is to eliminate the cause of disease, since in itself the absence of symptoms does not always indicate a complete cure. Symptoms can often be quickly eliminated. But cure usually takes more time. Since it is based on the individual constitution, it is obvious that in very chronic diseases there may be more sittings required to eliminate the toxins from the body.

Toxins Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Bacteria

Bacteria A numerous and varied class of microorganisms which exist in the air, earth, water, and in and on the bodies of plants, animals, and men. Bacteria, like all manifested things, are dual in action, being both beneficial and injurious to others: some of them provide the necessary enzymes for functional use, and others produce dangerous toxins. They are vital factors throughout the plant and animal kingdoms between which they are an organic link; and they are also a medium of contact between the astral and physical planes. As such they serve as material agents for certain phases of the operations of the laws of nature on the terrestrial plane.

Bacteria, then, are a host of visible and invisible agents which, on our plane, subconsciously carry out many processes of evolutionary life and death. They are links in the karmic chain by which the divine recorders, who follow the immutable laws in the universal mind, return to each being the results of whatever it was the antecedent cause.

Thus the bacteria of a disease will multiply and produce their injurious toxins only when the karmic conditions within or surrounding the individual provide a suitable culture-medium for them. Even then, the toxemia may or may not be modified or overcome by the natural antitoxins of the blood aided by competent medical treatment. The typical disease germs found inactive in healthy throats, etc., are instances of a karma which, paradoxically, provides a dangerous contact with individual protection. The healthy person may be an unconscious carrier of the disease germ to someone who is due to reap the full effects of causes he had set in motion at some time.

The selective functions of these creative and destructive microorganisms are impersonally, and as it were automatically, directed by the invisible hierarchy of intelligences which guide the nature forces and so affect us physically and metaphysically as we have merited. The whole process is as natural as the analogous way in which a person's trillions of body cells are dominated by, and react to, the stimulation or depression of his harmonious or discordant state of mind and emotions. Both cells and bacteria are living entities, sentient but not intelligent in the human sense.

The typical appearance of bacteria in certain diseases gives them a place as diagnostic signatures of physical conditions. But to regard them as the primal cause of the disease is mistaking the phenomena for the noumena which is working out karmic effects.

Toxins Dictionary: Alternative Health Dictionary on Raktamoksha

Raktamoksha: Ayurvedic form of bloodletting. According to its theory,

á      toxemia is the basic cause of hypertension, thrombotic elements, and repeated acne, eczema, herpetic symptoms, hives, leukoderma, and scabies;

á      pitta (fire plus water, one of the three Ayurvedic humors) is a derivative of disintegrated red blood cells in the liver;

á      an increase of pitta in the blood may cause many disorders; and

á      extraction of a small amount of venous blood relieves the tension caused by pittagenic toxins in the blood.
