"Take My Breath Away" by Berlin (which is played during the Maverick and Charlie love scene) received the Best Song Oscar in 1987. Also in 1987, "Top Gun Anthem" by Harold Faltermeyer and Steve Stevens won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
