PET THERAPY: a therapeutic approach based on the idea that expressing affection for a pet helps people feel happier, maintain a positive outlook, and therefore improve their health.

According to several studies, having a pet can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and ward off loneliness and depression. Many nursing homes and some prisons have developed pet therapy programs, with excellent results.

Reality Therapy - Involvement. Establishing a relationship with the client is believed to be the most important factor in all types of psychotherapy. Without this relationship, the other steps will not be effective. DRUG THERAPY: various drugs are used to alleviate symptoms of some mental illnesses. Lithium is used in alleviating symptoms of manic depression.

Tranquilizers are used to reduce anxiety. All drugs have side effects, such as Ritalin, which is prescribed for hyperactive children, and can retard physical growth.

Fluoride therapy is commonly practiced and generally agreed upon as being useful in the modern dental field. HIV THERAPIES

practitioners offer a range of therapies that aim to treat the human immuno-deficiency virus, AIDS, or its’ symptoms. Due to the life-threatening nature of this disease, these therapies are often used as complements to conventional approaches to HIV.

COLON THERAPY: The colon, along with the skin, kidneys, and lungs, is a major organ for eliminating bodily waste.

The healthy function of the colon is essential for good digestion and the proper absorption of nutrients. If bowel movements are not consistent, waste products and toxins are not eliminated in a regular manner, and health can be compromised. Colon therapy uses a series of colonic water flushes to clean and detoxify the lower intestine and aid in the reconstitution of intestinal flora.

ENZYME THERAPY: Both plant-derived and pancreatic enzymes are employed in enzyme therapy and they can be used independently or in combination.

Reichian Therapies (Reichian-based therapies, Reichian-oriented therapies): Variety of regression methods whose theories share Wilhelm Reich's concept of character armoring (muscular-emotional armoring). The expression character armor refers to all the attributes one develops as blocking against emotional excitation.

The results of character armoring include bodily rigidity and deadness. Reichian-oriented therapies include bioenergetics, core energetics, organismic psychotherapy, and Radix. (See Reichian Therapy.)

DREAM THERAPY: Dream therapy is the use of dreams and the dream state to accomplish physical and emotional healing.

It involves both the interpretation of information obtained while dreaming and the active participation in the dream process through a technique called lucid dreaming. The various processes associated with dreams have been put under the generalized term of "dreamwork."
