 | | | Theodosius Dobzhansky: Encyclopedia II - Answers in Genesis - CriticismNo Answers in Genesis is a site maintained by members of Australian Skeptics led by retired civil servant John Stear for the purpose of rebutting AiG. Some creationists use a statement from the scientist and atheist Richard Dawkins that evolution makes it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist to argue that Stear's atheism adds a bias to his arguments. He has responded (to similar arguments):
The fact is that what I believe personally has no bearing on my management of a web site that is dedicated to, and is obv ...

 | | | Theodosius Dobzhansky: Encyclopedia II - Macroevolution - History of macroevolutionThe debate over the relationship between macroevolution and microevolution has been going on since the 1860s, when evolution first became a widely accepted idea following the publication of Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species.
The first theory of macroevolution, Lamarckism, developed by biologist Jean-Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet, Chevalier de Lamarck, asserted that individuals develop traits they use and lose traits they do not use, and that individuals pass the acquired traits onto their offspring. Lamarck asserted tha ...

 | | | Theodosius Dobzhansky: Encyclopedia II - Evolutionary biology - HistoryEvolutionary biology as an academic discipline in its own right emerged as a result of the modern evolutionary synthesis in the 1930s and 1940s. It was not until the 1970s and 1980s, however, that a significant number of universities had departments that specifically included the term evolutionary biology in their titles. In the United States, as a result of the rapid growth of molecular and cell biology, many universities have split (or aggregated) their biology departments into molecular and cell biology-style departments and ...

 | | | Theodosius Dobzhansky: Encyclopedia II - Theistic evolution - Spectrum of viewpointsEvolutionary creationism is a variant of creationism which accepts microevolution and macroevolution while retaining a theistic interpretation of evolution. Theistic evolution is accepted (or at least not rejected) by major Christian churches, including Roman Catholicism; some Judaism denominations; and other religious organizations that lack a literalist stance concerning holy scriptures. With this approach toward evolution, scriptural creation stories are typically interpreted as being allegorical in nature. Many individuals stress the unreliability of Genesis as a scientific text ...
