Terra: Encyclopedia II - Imperial Fists - History

Imperial Fists - Rogal Dorn. Little is known about the home and early life of Rogal Dorn. However, it is believed that he was one of the first Primarchs to rejoin the Emperor, and unlike many of the others, Rogal Dorn was the one to discover the Emperor of Mankind. Dorn presented the mobile space fortress Phalanx to the Emperor, to assist in the Great Crusade. Welcoming Dorn, and quickly recognising the man as one of his twenty genetically engineered sons, the Emperor repaid Dorn by granting him command of the Seventh Space Marine Legion. ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Biggs and Wedge - Final Fantasy VI

The duo's first appearance was as a pair of Vector soldiers accompanying Terra in the attack on Narshe to claim a frozen Esper. They're playable for a short period of time, riding in Magitek armor, but are eventually eliminated by the Esper Tritoch. In the Super Nintendo Entertainment System release of the game as Final Fantasy III, Biggs' name was Vicks. This is attributable to Ted Woolsey's often "creative" translation, which rendered "Ultima" as "Atma" and "Phoenix" as "Fenix" due to old name size restrictions. In the re-rel ...

It re-introduced the Changeling (formerly Beast Boy), and introduced for the first time the man-machine Cyborg, the alien Starfire, and the dark empath Raven. Raven, an expert manipulator, formed the group to fight her demonic father T ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Secret of Evermore - Gameplay

The game shares two major surface similarities with Secret of Mana: It uses a freshly-coded interpretation of that game's ring-based menu system, and it requires the player to control multiple characters one-at-a-time. The player guides both the boy and his shapeshifting dog through Evermore, free to switch between characters and sometimes forced to do so to solve various puzzles. A very unique element to Secret of Evermore is its system of magic. Rather than using a traditional system of collecting magic points and usin ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Beast Boy - History

As a child, Garfield Logan contracted with a rare illness called Sakutia and was cured by a serum from a green monkey. This serum had the unintended effect of turning his skin and hair green and gave him the ability to change into any animal (the colors and appearance of these animals changed depending on which artist was using the character at the time). Originally and currently known as Beast Boy, he was adopted by Elasti-Girl and Mento, members of the Doom Patrol. He later joined the West Coast team of the Teen Titans (known ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Earth - Earth in the solar system

It takes the Earth 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.091 seconds (1 sidereal day) to rotate around the axis connecting the north pole and the south pole. From Earth the main apparent motion of celestial bodies in the sky (except meteors which are within the atmosphere and low-orbiting satellites) is the movement to the west at a rate of 15 °/h = 15'/min, i.e., a Sun or Moon diameter every two minutes. Earth orbits the Sun every 365.2564 mean solar days (1 sidereal year). From Earth, this gives an apparent movement of the Sun with respect to the stars at a rate of about 1 °/day, i.e ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Armageddon Warhammer 40000 - First War for Armageddon

The first war fought for the planet is perhaps the least known, and probably for good reason. In the 499th year of the 41st millennium, a force assembled by Angron, daemon-Primarch of the World Eaters, used a space hulk to launch an invasion of Armageddon. The hulk emerged from the Immaterium on the outer edge of the Armageddon system, and began to drift towards the Hive World. Actions by the Imperial Navy were able to stall the advance of the space hulk, but a month after emerging from the warp, Angron was in a position to begin his attack. ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - SEAT Ibiza - History

SEAT Ibiza - Mk. 1 1985-1993. The Mk. 1 was based on the Fiat 127/Ritmo/Regata, and used a powertrain which had been developed in collaboration with Porsche. This was the first SEAT which did not share any external body panels with any Fiat model, having been designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. This version, while it established the now classic Ibiza shape, suffered from poor build quality and unreliability. It also suffered from heavy steering and noisy engines. See also:

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Shipping fandom - Etymology and usage of terminology

Though ship is undoubtedly a derivative of the word relationship (or perhaps worship) in some way, where and when it was first used to indicate involvement with fictional romance is unclear. Terra: Encyclopedia II - Traveller role-playing game - Setting

The Third Imperium is in the distant future—over three thousand years removed from our own time. Interstellar travel is facilitated, and limited, by the use of a technology known as the jump drive. Jump drives are capable of propelling a starcraft between one to six parsecs, depending on the individual drive's specifications. Regardless of the distance of a jump, the duration required for the trip is approximately one week. Communications are limited to the speed of travel; there is no "sub-space" or other form of FTL information transfer. ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Astronomical naming conventions - Names of stars

According to the IAU, apart from a limited number of bright stars with historic names, stars do not have proper names. Where historic names exist, these names are, with a few exceptions, taken from the Arabic language: this reflects the leading role of Arab culture in astronomy while Europe was experiencing the Middle Ages. See List of traditional star names for a list of some of these names. There are no more than a few thousand stars that appear sufficiently bright in the Earth's sky to be visible to the naked eye, so this represent ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - Starlancer - Overview

Roberts is on record as saying that Wing Commander was designed as "World War II in Space"; anyone who plays the game, however, can see that the premise has changed somewhat. Starlancer returns to this original formula. It is the year 2160. Mankind has colonized the solar system and two political entities have emerged: an "Alliance" consisting of American, French, Italian, Japanese, British and German forces, and a "Coalition" of Russian, Chinese and Middle-Eastern interests. The game begins with a surprise attack on Fort Kenne ...

Terra: Encyclopedia II - War on Terra - Origin and meanings

Jon Stewart did a segment about the War on Terra as a means by which Bush supposedly intended to destroy Mother Nature. Beginning with a report about melting ice caps in the Arctic Circle, Stewart claimed, "There is near-universal consensus that the melting is due to global warming, though the Bush administration counters that the ice caps are not melting; rather, the water has been liberated." Later, he transitioned to the issue of endangered species: "Of course, wrecking the planet is an abstract and long-term proposition. There's a more c ...

The U.S. government does not explicitly acknowledge the existence of the Groom Lake facility, nor does it deny it. Unlike much of the Nellis range, the area surrounding the lake is permanently off-limits both to civilian and normal military air traffic. The area is protected by radar stations, and uninvited guests are met by helicopters and armed guards. The vast majority of the planet's population lived in abject poverty, toiling in the mines while the rich grew in affluence, exploiting the already downtrodden workers.
