Why does Ariel Sharon deserve to be here? See why I advocated this page be deleted to begin with? RickK 02:55, 14 Jan 2004 (UTC) Sharon is one of the biggest war heroes in Israel, particularly for 1973. Ironically, his WP bio goes to so much trouble to cast aspersions, it leaves out the part where a considerable percentage of the Israeli public regards him as their Eisenhower or Nelson (I don't, but I'm not going to tell people in other countries who their heroes should be). The list makes perfect sense, if one sticks to "herois ...

I also would like to recomend that all people are reffered to in the form of last name, first name, the exeption being cases where they have only one name or only one known name. In addition, for the sake of those whose last or first name we do not know or those whom only have honorary title as opposed to name (sych as the unknown warrior), I would like to recomend that instead of listing the people alphabetically, I would like to instead reccomend that we list them according to time period. For example, a Pre-AD Section, a 0 AD-1000 AD sect ...

I've avoided this page before now, but having seen it, it's kind of disappointing. There are two distinct categories, perhaps identifiable as front-line soldiers who risk life and limb to win, and commanders who risk careers to win - Nelson and Teddy Roosevelt being two of very few who did both at the same time. The war hero article ought to discuss the concept, the relative aspects (hero vs criminal etc, keeping in mind that "war criminal" is a relatively new concept), then link to the list, which I would estimate to top out at maybe 1000-2 ...
