Hinduism Dictionary on Neo-Indian religion
neo-Indian religion: Navabharata Dharma. A modern form of liberal Hinduism that carries forward basic Hindu cultural values - such as dress, diet and the arts - while allowing religious values to subside. It emerged after the British Raj, when India declared itself an independent, secular state. It was cultivated by the Macaulay education system, implanted in India by the British, which aggressively undermined Hindu thought and belief. Neo- Indian religion encourages Hindus to follow any combination of theological, scriptural, sadhana and worship patterns, regardless of sectarian or religious origin. Extending out of and beyond the Smarta system of worshiping the Gods of each major sect, it incorporates holy icons from all religions, including Jesus, Mother Mary and Buddha. Many Navabharatis choose to not call themselves Hindus but to declare themselves members of all the world's religions. See: panchayatana puja, Smartism, Smarta Sampradaya, syncretism, universalist.

Dictionary on
Christos
Christos (Greek) Anointed; applied in the Greek Mysteries to a candidate who had passed the last degree and become a full initiate. Also the immanent individual god in a person, equivalent in some respects to Dionysos, Krishna, etc. The Hebrew word for anointed (mashiah) is generally written in English as Messiah. What we know as Christianity is a syncretism of borrowings from Neoplatonism, neo-Pythogoreanism, Greek Gnosticism, and Hebrew religion. Christos was commonly used in the Greek translation of the Bible as a title of the Jewish Kings, those who had been anointed for reigning -- a symbolic rite taken originally from the Mysteries. St. Paul's use of the word shows that he understood its true mystical meaning, but spoke with precaution in his public epistles or writings. The first two letters of the Greek word, , superimposed in a monogram, were on the military standard of the later Christian emperors of Rome, probably dating from Constantine, and have a significance as geometrical symbols besides. | | | Syncretism Dictionary: History of BuddhismThe history of
Buddhism spans from the 6th century BCE to the present,
starting with the birth of the Buddha Siddharta
Gautama. This makes it one of the oldest religions practiced
today. Throughout this period, the religion evolved as it encountered various
countries and cultures, adding to its original Indian foundation Hellenistic as well as Central Asian, East Asian, and Southeast Asian cultural elements. In the process, its geographical extent became
considerable so as to affect at one time or another most of the Asian
continent. The history of Buddhism is also characterized by the development of numerous
movements and schisms, foremost among them the Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions, punctuated by
contrasting periods of expansion and retreat.

Religion - Laya Yoga Laya Yoga - The
Essence Of All Religion
Yoga is the essence of
every religion and is that what all religions have in common. If a man really
wants to go deeply into the mystical and spiritual essence of their religion,
then he or she comes to practise yoga. We say that yoga is not a religion in a
sense of an individual creed or a sect separating from others, we also say that
yoga is the substance and profundity of every religion and its inner cult. That
is why one can be a member of every religious society and practise yoga. Two
rules, or if one prefers, two commandments present in all scriptures such as
Veda, Koran or the Bible are as if two angelic, divine wings of the Laya Yoga
training. " Be holy because I am Holy" and " Be
so perfect as your Heavenly Father is" these are the signs of an
authentic, spiritual path of universal life.
