Sweat Bath: Nothing's Impossible When God is Present - about Jamshedji Navroze

Today, as the vernal equinox bathes the universe in a golden glow and Spring dances in seen and unseen splendour, it is amply clear that once you are with God, everything's possible.

Today is Jamshedji Navroze , the original new year. It is celebrated by Parsees today - as it was by the people of ancient Iran - with good reason. The day marks the birth of Creation and therefore, your birth and mine too. It also celebrates Prophet Zarathushtra's profound pronouncements, the beauty and truth of which I've gleaned with my own limited vision from the scriptures.

Sweat Bath: Signs Of Death

It is very difficult to find out the real signs of death. Stoppage of the heart-beat, stoppage of the pulse or breathing are not the actual signs of death. Stoppage of the heartbeats, pulse and respiration, cadaveric rigidity of the limbs, clammy sweat on the body, absence of warmth of the body, are the popular signs of death. The doctor tries to find out whether there is corneal reflex in the eye. He tries to bend the leg. These signs are not the real signs of death, because there have been several cases where there were cessation of breathing and beating of heart and yet they were revived after some time.

The death and dying and the life after death has always fascinated man. This is an excerpt from the book What Becomes Of The Soul After Death by Sri Swami Sivananda.

Sweat Bath: Encyclopedia - Public bathing

Public bathing has a long history. Although the ancient Greek men practiced nudity in the Gymnasium, it was not acceptable for the women to view the men naked nor for the women to participate in social nudity, even among themselves. Even the original, nude Olympic games were only attended by men. During the Ottoman Empire, public baths were established and widely used. The baths had both a religious and popular origin deriving from the Qur'an (ablution ritual) an ...

Sweat Bath: Encyclopedia - Sauna

A sauna, the wet version also called steam bath, is a small room or house designed as a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions, or an establishment with one or more of these and auxiliary facilities, or the act of using a sauna. Taking a sauna is usually a social affair in which the participants disrobe and sit or recline in temperatures of over 80 °C (176 °F). This induces relaxation and promotes sweating. It is believed by some that heavy sweating helps to remove 'toxins' from the body.[citation needed]Including:

Hydrotherapy, formerly called hydropathy, is probably the oldest form of medical treatment. It involves the use of water for soothing pains and treating diseases. Sweat Bath: Encyclopedia - Ritual purification

Ritual purification is a feature of many religions. The aim of these rituals is to remove uncleanliness, which may be real or symbolic. Most of these rituals were created long before the germ theory of disease. Many religions have a ritual cleansing of the dead before burial. Hyperthermia, also known as heat stroke or sunstroke, is an acute condition which occurs when the body produces or absorbs more heat than it can dissipate. Sweat Bath: Encyclopedia - Yiddish words and phrases used by English speakers

This is a list of words and phrases used by speakers whose English has been heavily influenced by Yiddish, especially speakers of Yinglish. Unlike most of the words in the list of English words of Yiddish origin, these words have not been assimilated into English and are unlikely to be understood by English speakers who do not have substantial Yiddish influence. Leo Rosten's book, The Joys of Yiddish, explains these words (and many more) in detail. A shande - a disgrace; one who brings embarrassment through mere a ...
