Surrender: Surrender and Service

Most of our ideas about surrender are just ideas, not lived sacrifice. Those who do not know surrender can only talk about surrender, intuit surrender, and pray for surrender. They certainly should not assume that they are surrendered simply because they can speak about it elegantly, or because they once had an insight about it.

Surrender: Surrender, the Only Real Freedom

The struggle in a human being is always that he thinks freedom means getting somewhere. But wherever you go, you will not be free. Spiritually, there has always been talk of surrender.

But the moment logical, educated minds hear the word surrender, they will build forts around themselves.

Surrender: Surrender Yourself Unconditionally

The Vedas describe God as being Nirguna (free of qualities) and Niranjana (free of blemish). The Advaita philosophy founded by Adi Sankara explains this concept: "God or Brahman does not have any gunas or qualities". However, Ramanuja of the Vishishtadvaita philosophy explains that nirguna does not mean that God has no qualities, it only means that God has no bad gunas or qualities.

Surrender: From Self-reliance To Self-surrender

Weak people say: "I resign myself to God because I am helpless to proceed further". But such words are not convincing for they reveal that there is, still, a trace of the crude ego left.

The exhibition of humility is only a pretence, a cover. And this is misinterpreted by others as piety. Hanuman says in the Ramayana: "I have surrendered everything to Rama and I have installed Him firmly in my heart. I am His faithful servant". Such a statement is convincing because it comes from a strong, fearless and intelligent person.

Surrender: Surrender Your Anger To The Divine

The arsonists of Godhra and the marauders elsewhere, both, had fallen prey only to the forces of - as mysticism terms it - the lower Nature, the nescience.

While they must have felt that they were the performers, the forces of darkness must be indulging in a sinister laughter. These forces are entities in their own right. There is no such thing as a Hindu hatred or a Muslim hatred. Such destructive passions lurk behind human ignorance and their pressure makes their prey hit upon a cause.

It connects us with our very own inner powers of vitality, clarity, light and love. It removes blocks and so unfetters our natural abilities. It helps us to improve ourselves. Our relationships become centred, balanced, and more loving. It cultivates awareness and the quality of being alive. Surrender: Surrender the Ego, Attain Happiness

In today's fast-changing world, materialism and stress have become part of our everyday lives. We are constantly looking for answers: How to live a successful and happy life?

One way of finding out answers to this question could be to explore the Spiritual Quotient (SQ), relating to our ability to understand and comprehend the spiritual aspects of life, which, contrary to popular belief, are not necessarily connected to religion.

Surrender: Total Surrender to The Guru Principle

The Guru Gita says: ''If Shiva is angry with you, the guru will take care of you, but if the guru is cross with you, even Shiva will not be able to protect you against the wrath of your guru.''

How strange, I thought. Shiva is the creator, sustainer and destroyer of the universe; he is the vital principle from which all objects emerge. How can a living guru be more powerful than the lord of the universe?

.Prayer can perform miracle. There is no better meditation technique than sincere prayer.

"We may love God as a parent, as our child, as our beloved or even our friend". Says Amma, "Contemplate Him as your creator, protector and the final abode to where you will return. Open your heart and pray to Him. He cannot sit silent and unmoved when somebody calls Him like that...Without love for God, no amount of meditation will bear fruit.

Surrender: Encyclopedia II - Battle of Fort Donelson - Surrender

Nearly 1,000 soldiers on both sides had been killed, with about 3,000 wounded still on the field; some froze to death in a snowstorm, many Union soldiers having thrown away their blankets and coats, now swearing at the "sunny South". General Floyd expected a Confederate loss, and to be captured and face justice in the North. At a council of war at 1:30 a.m. on February 16, he turned over his command to the indecisive General Pillow, who also feared Northern reprisals and gave it in turn to the somewhat cautious General Buckner; Floyd ...
