Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Revival and Revolution Ucover the Truth

There are four T's that need periodic revival. They are: Truth, Tradition, Trade and Technology. Time has a seeming effect on truth. Though truth is beyond time, it gets covered by maya or illusion. This is called avarana. Down the ages different schools of thought have tried to uncover the truth. Though the goal is common to all, the journey itself has to be undertaken individually. If you do not re-examine what you have learnt and believe to be the truth, you become fanatical and your intellectual growth stagnates.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Reverence for Nature Is The Only Way to Save It

Ancient scriptures say we have five sheaths: physical environment, physical body, mind, intuitive sheath or subtle environment, and the Self.

Indian tradition believes in the sanctity of nature. Our rishis perceived the mountains, rivers, Sun, Moon and trees to be sacred. That which is sacred is honoured. Environmental consciousness has been built into our way of life, to become our second nature. But when we start moving away from our nature we begin polluting the environment. Unfortunately, we pollute our rivers and mountains in the name of sacred rituals.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: The Art of Breathing

The first breath of life eventually leads to the last exhale at death, but for whatever span that lies between, breathing is an unassuming, if essential, part of living. It seemed odd to me that one would need lessons in how to breathe.

Yet people worldwide are turning to the intensive Art of Living course on lowering stress and finding renewed vigour and clarity through age-old Hindu breathing techniques.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: The Seat of Power - Pride or Service?

A ministership purports to serve the people. However, if it is perceived as a means to derive pleasure or prestige, it will only infest society with corruption, stymie growth, and lead to moral degradation. Fear and insecurity will grip society, inhibiting humanness.

It is natural for human beings to want to overcome fear and insecurity. Most will do almost anything to feel secure. Consequently there is a struggle for the seat of power. However, those who hanker after power are really powerless. They can accomplish very little even after coming to office. So let's not blame them.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Hare, Rama, Dharma: HRD Redefined

Hare, Rama, Dharma or HRD is the driving force of any organisation. Hare drives away your problems, Rama invokes your own radiance and Dharma is the duty of the organisation to see that each individual performs to the best of her ability. This dharma, if followed by each organisation, will drive us from an asset-based economy to a talent-based economy. There is an old saying, '' Yatha raja tatha praja ''. Under the new definition of HRD it should be '' Yatha praja, tatha raja '' - which means it is the people in your organisation who will determine the leadership.
