Spirituality and Science

Wisdom Archive on Science and Spirituality

Science and Spirituality

Spirituality and Science is seen by many as two separate things. What we normally call Science is that which we can measure, see and prove. From that perspective, Spirit is maybe the last thing to find in any microscope. The science of Spirituality is maybe not so easily measured from the parameters used in normal science.
The marriage of science and spirituality is very exiting and this topic will be presented at this page and at the Oneness Festival.

In many religious traditions God is seen as infinite, all powerful, perfect and beyond change and growth. In stark contrast the universe is evolving an ever expanding consciousness often through excruciatingly painful struggles. Our mathematical and scientific understanding suggests God is an unfolding creative process that may expand without limit. In that framework we are the eyes of God with the power to create the world. We are the evolution of consciousness becoming aware of itself and beginning to acquire the power to take conscious control of evolution.

Spirituality and Science: What is Vastu Shastra?

Vastu Shastra is the Indian science of space and architecture and how we may create spaces and environment that supports physical & spiritual health and prosperity.
Vastu Shastra evolved during Vedic times in India. The concepts of Vastu Shastra was transferred to Tibet, South East Asia and finally to China and Japan where it provided the base for the development of what is now known as Feng Shui.
Vastu Shastra is the art and science of designing houses, offices, temples etc that swirl with good energy. Indian Maharajas and Moghul Emperors used Vastu Shastra when they built their symmetrical palaces, artificial lakes, and geometric courtyards that thirstily absorbed positive energy.

Spirituality and Science: Hindu view on Science, Knowledge and Education

Hindu view on Science, Knowledge and Education

Hindu scriptures recognize two types of knowledge: the lower knowledge and the higher knowledge. Knowledge of the rites and rituals and scholarly study of scriptures is considered to be lower knowledge, while higher knowledge is the knowledge of Atman and Brahman gained through personal experience or self realization. Of the two, the Higher Knowledge alone is true, because it liberates the individuals from the cycle of births and deaths.

Spirituality and Science: The Conscious Universe, part III - Four general themes

” If all this is true, then a thousand other questions immediately bubble up. Why hasn’t everyone heard about this on the nightly news? Why is this topic so controversial? Who has psi? How does it work? What are its implications and applications? These are all good questions, and this book will attempt to answer them through four general themes: Motivation, Evidence, Understanding and Implications.”

This is part 3 of the first chapter from Dean Radins book The Conscious Universe

Spirituality and Science: Sahaja Yoga - The physics of Sahaja Yoga

Sahaja Yoga - The physics of Sahaja Yoga

I will try to explain Sahaja Yoga in the simplest way, but please note that it is really complicated if you want to know it in detail. The best way to enjoy television is first to switch it on and watch. Then later you can try to understand its engineering.

Spirituality and Science: Types of Yantras

Mantras & Yantras: Types of Yantras

These five types of yantras are classed according to the different puja (worship) conducted. Bhu Prisht Yantras, Meru Prisht Yantras, Patel Yantras, Meru Parastar Yantras and Ruram Prisht Yantras. Each yantra has a separate and distinct purpose to gain a particular objective for the aspirant. Some yantras are worshipped in temples, some worshipped by individuals at home and some are worn on the body. According to how the yantras are used they are further classified into seven divisions Sharir Yantra, Dharan Yantra, Asana Yantra, Mandala Yantra and Puja Yantra.

Spirituality and Science: What is Gaia?

Most of us sense that the Earth is more than a sphere of rock with a thin layer of air, ocean and life covering the surface. We feel that we belong here as if this planet were indeed our home. Long ago the Greeks, thinking this way, gave to the Earth the name Gaia or, for short, Ge. In those days, science and theology were one and science, although less precise, had soul. As time passed this warm relationship faded and was replaced by the frigidity of the schoolmen. The life sciences, no longer concerned with life, fell to classifying dead things and even to vivisection. Ge was stolen from theology to become no more the root from which the disciplines of geography and geology were named. Now at last there are signs of a change. Science becomes holistic again and rediscovers soul, and theology, moved by ecumenical forces, begins to realise that Gaia is not to be subdivided for academic convenience and that Ge is much more than just a prefix.

Spirituality and Science: Who Are The Indigo People? - Part Two

I always knew that I was different- not only in appearance from my peers, but also different inside, in my mind and my thoughts. I would tell my childhood peers things that made perfect sense to me (or to an adult), but would go completely over their heads. I was soon labeled a 'weirdo' and shunned. I didn't know it at the time, but most of the stuff that I 'just knew' had to do with the semi-conscious realization that I'd been here before. I say 'semi-conscious' because the veil this life puts over the connection to Higher Self is a heavy and distorting one, and takes many years and much effort to remove or penetrate.

Spirituality and Science: Intuitive Rightness - Science and Karma

It is wise to bear in mind that in daily life, most of our knowledge is not arrived at through analysis. It is thought by many that the intuitive faculties of the human mind can draw on much more information than we can access analytically, and certainly there are a lot of remarkable anecdotes about the power of dreams and intuition in problem-solving. Thus, it seems worthwhile to take a look at the intuitive appeal of karma.

Spirituality and Science: Vasthu Shastram - The Ancient Science

The Vasthu Shastram is an ancient science which helps one to get the natural benefits freely offered by the five basic foundation of the universe in which we all live.  These basic foundations are Akash (Sky), Prithvi (Earth), Paani (Water), Agni (Fire), and Vayu (Wind). Vasthu Shastram can be applied by keeping in harmony with these basic five foundation of nature.

Spirituality and Science: Epiphany - Amid darkness, light

Epiphany: Amid darkness, light

There's a temptation to feel a little bit of a letdown this time of year, even after a really great holiday season. And there's unrest in many places vying for center stage on news broadcasts around the world. Not all the darkness is outside; our hearts have been touched and saddened.

Spirituality and Science: The Universe, Part III – A Conscious Universe

We have misunderstood these cosmological schemes of the past. What we call "geocentrism" was never meant to establish the earth merely as the spatial center of the great universe, but principally to communicate its place as an intersection of primary and secondary cosmic purposes and forces. The medieval mystic Meister Eckhart likens the earth to a station of cosmic reality through which there passes all the powers of Creation on their way to complete unfolding. "Earth...lies open to every celestial emanation. All the work and waste of heaven is caught midway in the sink of earth."

This is part III from the first chapter of Jacob Needlemans book A Sense of The Cosmos

Spirituality and Science: Morphogenetic fields and Rupert Sheldrake

A morphogenetic field, according to biologist Rupert Sheldrake, is a biological and potentially social equivalent to an electromagnetic field that operates to shape the exact form of a living thing and may also shape its behaviour and coordination with other beings. This morphogenetic field provides a force that guides the development of an organism as it grows, making it take on a form similar to that of others in its species.

Spirituality and Science: Indigo Children and Science

The Indigo Children are not to be considered "superior or elite" in comparison to other humans, but rather viewed as living demonstrations of the dormant abilities that are NOW beginning to rapidly unfold among ALL HUMAN POPULATIONS.

Scientific communities in China, the US and other countries are now identifying small groups of infants and children that display rare abilities such as purging HIV, advanced genius and psychic/telekinetic abilities and other extra-ordinary attributes. These are the identified Indigo Children. Indigos can display some or all of these qualities and others not yet identified. In Indigo Children, fragments of DNA science identifies as 'junk DNA' and other portions of the DNA chain that science has yet to identify.

Spirituality and Science: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Christian Science

Christian Science

Officially called Church of Christ, Scientist, it was founded by Mary Baker Eddy in Boston, Mass. Her teachings are heavily indebted to Phineas P. Quimby, a mesmerist. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures functions as a canon of Scripture.

Matter is unreal; thus, so are sickness and death, which are overcome by believing that we are Mind. Christ is Òthe divine manifestation of GodÓ most fully seen in Jesus, who only seemed to die. The ÒHoly GhostÓ is Divine Science, that is, Christian Science. Many New Age ideas have historical roots in Christian Science and related New Thought groups.

Spirituality and Science: Physics Shows The Way To Consciousness - Meditation and Science

Can science and meditation, each dealing with different phenomena, have common ground? Physics deals with the external world of matter, space and time, from the giant galaxies in outer space down to the infinitesimally small particles which make up the atom.

Meditation looks inward; its domain is that which is not physical. When we close our eyes in meditation, we are cutting off the senses which connect us with the physical world. What we perceive at this time cannot be seen, heard, tasted, touched or smelled. We are investigating the nature of the inner consciousness which makes us alive, alert and aware of the world around us.

Spirituality and Science: What makes the Good Book so good?

What makes the Good Book so good?

Article explores how the Bible has impacted the authorÕs life, including how what it taught her about God's goodness helped her when she faced financial struggles.

What makes the Good Book so good? Elements of adventure, history, biography, and poetry fill its pages. But that's true of countless books whose impact has faded over time. To me, the Bible isn't just a good book - it's a book about goodness. A record and celebration of how God makes His good nature known and felt in ordinary and extraordinary situations.

Spirituality and Science: Ultimate Answer to All Your Questions

Science attempts to define the nature of reality. Reality, however, presents itself in a variety of names and forms: Physical, mental and psychological realities; linguistic and mathematical realities, and with the advent of computers and Internet, digital reality. But science is yet to define physical reality conclusively... hence the quest continues.

Spirituality and Science: Encyclopedia II - Science and technology in ancient India - Shipbuilding & navigation

A panel found in Mohenjodaro depicts a sailing craft, and thousands of years later Ajanta murals also depict a sea-faring ship. The science of shipbuilding and navigation was well known to ancient Indians. Sanskrit and Pali texts are replete with maritime references, and ancient Indians, particularly from the coastal regions, were having commercial relations with several countries of across the Bay of Bengal like Cambodia, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, and even up to China.
