Spirituality and Science | Wisdom Archive on Science and Spirituality | | Science and Spirituality Spirituality and Science is seen by many as two separate things.
What we normally call Science is that which we can measure, see and prove. From that perspective, Spirit is maybe the last thing to find in any microscope. The science of Spirituality is maybe not so easily measured from the parameters used in normal science.
The marriage of science and spirituality is very exiting and this topic will be presented at this page and at the Oneness Festival.
In many religious traditions God is seen as infinite, all powerful, perfect and beyond change and growth. In stark contrast the universe is evolving an ever expanding consciousness often through excruciatingly painful struggles. Our mathematical and scientific understanding suggests God is an unfolding creative process that may expand without limit. In that framework we are the eyes of God with the power to create the world. We are the evolution of consciousness becoming aware of itself and beginning to acquire the power to take conscious control of evolution.

Yoga
To verify some of the claims of Sahaj Yoga, a systematic research
study was organised in the physiology and medecine department of Lady Hardinge
Medical College and Associated Hospitals in New Delhi.
The research projects
studied were psychological effects of Kundalini awakening by Sahaj Yoga and the
effect of Sahaj practise on psychosomatic diseases like hypertension and bronchial
asthma.

UniversesIf the manual of life is encoded in our DNA, where do
we look to find the blueprint of consciousness? This was a subject that
fascinated Francis Crick, who, along with James Watson, discovered the
double-helix structure of DNA 50 years ago.
Engrossed in the mysterious relationship between mind
and body, Crick later felt impelled to turn his attention from matter to mind
and from biology to philosophy Ñ but he persisted in believing that one day,
consciousness could be explained in biological terms, using the tools of
neuroscience.

The Meaning of MantraMantras
& Yantras:
The Meaning of Mantra
Mantras,
being sacred sound vibrations, are composed of sacred syllables representative
of and containing within great spiritual power, or energy. Utilising mantras
allows us to concentrate and focus this spiritual energy. The mantras were
perceived originally by the great seers or rishis from the primeval or cosmic
ether and translated into very definite syllables with rhythm and melody.

| | | | Spirituality and Science: The Infinite Nature
Of Our UniverseInfinity: The
Infinite Nature Of Our Universe
Infinite translated in Sanskrit is anant
which means 'without end'. Mathematically speaking, infinity is an
indeterminate quantity and has two values - one positive and the other,
negative. In Sanskrit these values are described as anaadi
and anant , that is, without beginning and
without end. Any discussion on this topic can only reveal human ignorance and
so humble and inspire us to becoming better human beings.

Between Science & Spirit
Some years ago, I called upon the
great scientist Prof S Chandrasekhar in Chicago and asked him how seers of the Vedas
and Upanishads had two astounding insights that have
emerged in modern science only recently.
The first is the concept of anantakoti
brahmanda , endless universes. The second is the concept of vast
aeons of time through which creation passes, much like the ancient belief that
a single day of Brahma is 4.32 million human years long, so that his one year
corresponds roughly to the age of planet earth. When I suggested that perhaps
this knowledge came to seers in enhanced states of consciousness, Prof
Chandrasekhar seemed to agree.

| | | | | Spirituality and Science: Spirituality, the Psyche, and the Multi-Sensory Person The psyche is a multidimensional aspect of consciousness, most commonly thought of as being composed of the subconscious and superconscious. Thus, to humans, the psyche is considered to be those portions of the self other than the ego. However, our traditional definition of the psyche is limited by our lack of experience in utilizing the psyche as an integral, involved segment of acknowledged experience. This lack of utilization prohibits comprehension of the full range of knowledge and ability native to the psyche.
Elizabeth Jo Bittof is the author of MINDWALK; DIALOGUE WITH THE PSYCHE and MINDSCAPE FACILITATOR. She specializes in counseling and training for development and utilization of the many varied abilities of consciousness. Since a near-death experience in 1983, Elizabeth has devoted her life to exploring the untapped potentials of consciousness biologically available to mankind. | | | | | | | | | | | Spirituality and Science: Atheism is a Truly Divine
ScienceAtheism is a Truly Divine Science
In 'The Song Divine', Krishna
classifies nature as material nature and supernature. He says that supernature
is incomprehensible to people who are not in tune with the subtlety of
infinity. We think we choose to live, but the fact is we have no independent
will to be born. Beyond food, sex and territory, animals are not aware of any
other reality; they also do not have any aspirations towards immortality. Since
there is no fear or idea of death in their lives, they have no concept of God
or codified system of philosophy. They live by instinct and die without seeking
to prolong their lives.
