Spiritualism - Well-known Believers

A selection of articles related to Spiritualism - Well-known Believers:

Karma is the most widely used term in popular spirituality (with an exception of Semitic religions; Christianity, Judaism and Islam). Karma is believed to decide ones progress or failure both in the material as well as spiritual spheres, in terms of health, wealth and even attainment of enlightenment. Karma is one of the cosmic or natural laws governing the universe

There’s a reason why religions have mythologies. Because it’s much easier for individuals to identify with heroic tales than with dry metaphysics. And contrary to what we might believe, all mythology is not frozen in times gone by

* The Metaphysics of Minority Report

There’s a reason why religions have mythologies. Because it’s much easier for individuals to identify with heroic tales than with dry metaphysics.

And contrary to what we might believe, all mythology is not frozen in times gone by. It is being created around us every day, in the Harry Potter books, in the movies of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Generations from now, our descendants may well look back and say Lucas and Spielberg were the Homers and Virgils of our age - storytellers who narrated tales extremely well, but slipped in a larger message.

* Some Esoteric Principles

Esoteric tenets of the established religions clearly state, among other things that "God is everywhere."

If we are to believe this statement, we then have to say, "Then God must also somehow be within that which is evil, including the Devil himself!"

Well, without going too far into the esoteric nature of the matter, I will simply say that what appears to be evil, is just that, an appearance.

* Sense Perception, This and That

"All that belongs to the realm of senses, including thought, constitutes This. What is beyond the reach of our senses and mind is That," said the Guru .

The young, no-nonsense pupil shook his head, unwilling to accept an abstract point. "But, Sir," he queried, "Why should we at all confuse our minds with what is not real?" The Guru smiled. "Can you show me here something that you consider real?" he asked the pupil. "Of course!" replied the pupil and, pointing to a bell that was dangling from the ceiling, said: "This bell, for instance. I say this is real. But if you want me to believe in a second bell which is not here, well, I find it hard to take that."

* THE CREATIVE PROCESS -  We are Creators and The Law of Creation

In this Article we will review these points:
o     We are immersed in and responsible for the creative process, which dictates the outcome of our individual and collective lives in every moment.
o     We talk about how the greatest secret in the world is that you and I are incredibly powerful and aware creators.
o     We note that we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
o     We talk about the Law of creation and how it works equally for everyone without judgement.
o     We agree that our world is exactly what we collectively design it to be -- all of the time and that our universe operates as if we knew that we were powerful creators.
o     We reveal that our world expects that we know that what we think and say is what we create and what we get.
o     We note that God has not left us, but the reality is that we have left God!
o     We show that the time has finally come for us to wake up!
o     We suggest that the prerequisite for conscious creation is that we must have a strong belief if we are to be effective creators and that this strong belief is called "Faith."

* Journey into Awakening (part 2)

This is the second part of three articles covering Kiara Windriders many experiences of many teachers and spiritual traditions.

Ever since I can remember stories of holy men and women in the mountaintops and forests of India living in enlightened states of divine union have fascinated me. I looked to them with admiration and some envy, recognizing the longing deep in my heart to achieve a similar state of enlightenment, yet convinced I did not have the discipline nor stamina required to spend years in a cave hidden away from the world seeking this most precious of all pearls. In this article, Kiara Windrider share his experience from his personal journey and quest for Awakening.

* Fasting and Penance Strengthen the Soul

Fasting and Penance Strengthen the Soul
A feature common to most religions, worldwide, is the practice of undertaking periodic fasts. Saum or fasts are an integral part of Islam. For Hindus, fasts are a form and part of prayer and worship and the word upvas means "being near God".

The concept of asan or fasting takes different forms in Jainism. Followers of Buddhism too observe fasts on certain days as do Christians, especially during Lent.

Abstaining from food during Ramadan is a part of the broader programme that Islam prescribes for man to fulfil his moral and spiritual destiny in this world and in the hereafter.

* Atheism is a Truly Divine Science

Atheism is a Truly Divine Science
In 'The Song Divine', Krishna classifies nature as material nature and supernature. He says that supernature is incomprehensible to people who are not in tune with the subtlety of infinity. We think we choose to live, but the fact is we have no independent will to be born. Beyond food, sex and territory, animals are not aware of any other reality; they also do not have any aspirations towards immortality. Since there is no fear or idea of death in their lives, they have no concept of God or codified system of philosophy. They live by instinct and die without seeking to prolong their lives.
