| | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Expand Your Understanding Buddhist Quotes: Expand Your Understanding Some people live closely guarded lives, fearful of encountering someone or something that might shatter their insecure spiritual foundation. This attitude, however, is not the fault of religion but of their own limited understanding. True Dharma leads in exactly the opposite direction. It enables one to integrate all the many diverse experiences of life into a meaningful and coherent whole, thereby banishing fear and insecurity completely. - Lama Thubten Yeshe, "Wisdom Energy" . | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Voices From Within And Joan of Arc Joan of Arc, the "Maid of France", was a poor peasant girl from Domremy, a remote village tucked away in the north-east of France. Her life and death have come to acquire the flavour of mythology, but her story symbolises the spirit of true nationalism and the power of sheer faith and determination to remain strong in the face of adversity. Joan was inspired by voices from within. Her faith and conviction made her strong enough to face criticism from Captain de Beaudricourt, the commander at Vaucouleurs, to whom she offered her services to fight the English who had overrun parts of the country. | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: The Spiritual Basis Of Creativity In the mid-1980's, while William was consulting on corporate creativity, he began to recognise a similarity in the language that people used to describe their moments of creative insight and their experience of spiritual inspiration. It dawned on him that the similarities were not by accident; but rather, it's because our spiritual nature literally means we are co-creators with the Divine...as Martin Buber, a 20 th century Jewish philosopher, reminds us: "Destiny is not where we wait for God to push us. We take part in creation, meet the Creator, reach out to Him, helpers and companions." See also: Spirituality At Work, Work As A Spiritual Practice, Spiritual Based Leadership)

| | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Spiritual Values Are Human Values In February of 2000, we began writing an in-depth programme for working people which explores five human values that are found across all spiritual traditions: Truth, righteousness, love, peace and non-violence. The title is Human Values in the Workplace: Making Spirituality the Inner Context for Your Work. [1] We were inspired to write this programme because our collective business experience showed us that these five human values were the fundamental roots of a healthy, vibrant, viable organisation - and of healthy, vibrant, viable individuals. | | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Equal in Ordinary People and Sages Buddhist Quotes: Equal in Ordinary People and Sages The substance of your mind is apart from annihilation and apart from eternity; its essence is neither polluted nor pure. Calm and complete, it is equal in ordinary people and sages, functioning responsively without convention. All realms of experience and all states of being are only manifestations of your own mind--do the moon reflected in water or images in a mirror have origination and extinction? If you actually know this, you are fully equipped. The reason that the sages have manifested a spiritual presence to provide exemplars, and have set forth a wide variety of puzzling sayings, is simply to illustrate the fundamental peace of the body of reality, bringing about a return to the root. - Shih-t’ou . | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Spirituality as the Basis for Business Leadership What would you think if a senior vice-president from a multinational telecom firm said to you: Spirituality is very important to me as a person. I believe in God strongly. If ever there's a time for spiritual leadership, it's now. You must connect with a person's soul, at the deepest core. It can sometimes be lonely but you also feel happy and grounded inside. You also embrace your own humanness and imperfections and it keeps you humble as a leader and yet still strong. She, and other executives like her, have helped us realise that spirituality is an emerging basis for highly successful business leadership. While these words are an inspiration to many, they can also evoke scepticism, doubt, and criticism. To put these reactions into perspective, we've found that over the last 100 years, four distinct contexts of leadership have emerged in business. Each context represents a fundamental change in how we view the nature of business leadership and will therefore shape the perspectives and reactions of its leaders. | | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Service Before Self - Seva as Sadhana - about Swami Chidananda The ideals and motto of the Divine Life Society - "Serve, love, give, purify, meditate and realise" - are reflected in the life and work of Swami Chidananda Saraswati. His spiritual journey began on a Buddha Purnima day in 1943 inspired by his mentor Swami Sivananda. Chidananda's fervour to serve found the perfect outlet in the welfare work he undertook at Rishikesh. He believes that service alone can purify and prepare the soul for deep contemplation. | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Getting A Restful Night's Sleep Make it a habit to read something uplifting and inspiring every evening, even if it is for only a few minutes. Your "state of mind" determines how well you rest, and to what dimensional level you will journey during your sleep time. After you are in bed and just before falling asleep, take a few minutes to review your day. No judgements or recriminations - just be an observer! | | | | Spiritual Inspirations: Physics is the New Bhashya of Vedanta Vedas are four in number: The Rig Veda , the Sama Veda , the Yajur Veda and the Atharva Veda . Each of these four Vedas has four parts: the Samhita, the Brahmana, the Aranyaka, and a number of Upanishads. The first three parts of all the Vedas are collectively called the Vedas , and the fourth and the last, the Upanishads, are collectively called Vedanta . These four parts of the Vedas represent the historical order of their development over millennia. The Samhitas are the most ancient, and of them, the Rig Veda Samhita is the earliest. The Samhitas are considered the Vedas proper; the Brahmanas , the Aranyakas and the Upanishads are periodic additions, made by way of growing with the changing times.
