Spiritual Art: Child Development and the Art of Parenting

We are the most complex and wonderful of God's creations. The human nervous system allows us to experience the richness of life. Our perceptions create reality. We become what we think. But the right environment is required to create the right perceptions. Hence bringing up a child is an art. It requires knowledge and forbearance, love and compassion. Merely thinking of it as a responsibility is insufficient.

Children are very creative. However when faced with failure, they might become dispirited. Good parenting can enable children to accept facts of life and persuade them to proceed proactively in a creative mode.

The challenge of life is in accepting the fact that 'life is not fair'. Once you accept this fact, a certain understanding is generated. This will enable you to accept whatever life gives you.

Spiritual Art: Stillness in Movement - The Way of Tai Chi

Tai Chi, the ancient martial art form, is not only about movements. It is also about the principles behind the movements following which you can discover the stillness in movement and the energy that flows through you. Its first principle is: Go slow.

As you do the movements, pretend you are the tortoise in the race against the hare. Rushing gets you nowhere, certainly not to mindful balance and definitely not to enlightenment. Discover the stillness in slow movements and the movement in quiet stillness.

Spiritual Art: Music Of Masti And Meditation

Over the last century, it is in the realm of art that a contrarian movement developed - towards spirituality, a movement that has been sought to be described by one word: 'Abstract'.

One of the first to define the abstract was W Kandinsky, who explained it as non-materialism in art, the exploration of the spiritual entity of things, when art, stripped of its theatricality, and its "bait of entertainment" reached a pure core. The dictionary splits the word abstract into the Latin 'abs', meaning 'away from', and 'tractum', meaning 'to draw'. Clearly, it means to draw away from the external to the internal entity of things.
