AU was included as one of the top 50 "wired campuses" in the United States by a 1997 Yahoo! survey. Since adding a campus-wide advanced wireless broadband network in 2001, AU has been classified as one of the most "unwired" campuses in the U.S. by Intel. Spa: Encyclopedia II - Sauna - The modern Sauna

Most North American college/university physical education complexes and many public sports centers include sauna facilities. They may also be present in a public swimming pool. This may be a separate area where swimming wear is taken off or a smaller facility in the swimming pool area where one should keep the swimming wear on. Under many circumstances, temperatures approaching and exceeding 100 °C (212 °F) would be completely intolerable. Saunas overcome this problem by controlling the humidity. The hottest Finnish and Swedish saun ...

The Finnish-style sauna (generally 70-90 degrees Celsius (158-194 °F), but can vary from 60 to 120 degrees (140-248 °F)) and the wet steam bath are the most widely known forms of sweat bathing. Public bathhouses that often contained a steam room were common in the 1700s, 1800s and early 1900s and were inexpensive places to go to wash when private facilities we ...

Spa: Encyclopedia II - Sauna - Saunas and sex

In some countries there are adult-only saunas that have different rules and customs, the term "sauna" being used for a bath-house or "health club", sometimes with facilities like a standard sauna, but where people go to find sexual partners and have sex on the premises (however not in the sauna itself). Some such saunas rent out small rooms for this purpose: others are disguised brothels. This euphemistic usage generally applies to establishments that advertise themselves as being a sauna rather than those that have a sauna on the premises. ...

The fauna and flora are unique in Lake Hévíz due to the temperature and chemical composition of the water, which is slightly radioactive and contains reduced sulfuric compounds as well as oxygen in solution. Several species are to be found in this lake only in Hungary or in the world. Bacteria is the dominant life form in the lake; it is possible that this is a cause of the supposed curative effect. Several taxons can be found here. Most common Cyanobacteria are filamentous blue-green algae (Oscillatoria princeps, O. tenuis, O. jaso ...

Soda Springs, a natural spring, has long seen human activity. The area was a prehistoric quarry site and projectile points and rock art can be found in the area. Evaporative salt mining and mill sites can be found here as well. The name Zzyzx, pronounced /ˈzaɪˌzɪks/ (rhyming with "Isaac's", not "physics"), was given to the area i ...

Because heated water can hold more dissolved solids, warm and especially hot springs also often have a very high mineral content, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium. Resort - Destination resort. A resort is sometimes called a destination resort. This is a common usage when the facility provides food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping within the facility so that customers have no need to leave the facility once they arrive. Commonly these facilities are of higher quality then would be expected if one were to stay at a hotel or eat in a town's restaurants. Walt Disney World Resort and Aspen, Colorado are examples of this, as are many of the larger hotel casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada. Resort - Golf resort.
