Silent Witness: Encyclopedia - Jnana Yoga

Jnana in Sanskrit means "knowledge", and is often interpreted to mean "knowledge of the true self". In the Vedanta school of the Hindu religion, to know Brahman as one's own Self is jnana. To say, "I am Brahman, the pure, all-pervading Consciousness, the non-enjoyer, non-doer and silent witness," is jnana. To behold the one Self everywhere is jnana. Jnana yoga is one of the four bas ...

Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - John Dean - Life after Watergate
Dean chronicled his White House experiences, with a focus on Watergate, in the memoirs Blind Ambition and Lost Honor. Blind Ambition would become the point of controversy many years after its publication. In 1992 he brought the first in a series of defamation suits against G. Gordon Liddy for claims in his book Will and St. Martin's Press for its publication of the book Silent Coup by Len Colodny. Silent Coup alleged Dean was the mastermind of the Watergate burglaries and the true target of th ...

Silent Witness: Sai Baba Dictionary on Paramatma

Paramatma:

Paramatma: The Absolute from which all this has emanated, in which all this exists, into which all this merges. It is the prop for achieving Liberation ( see also Moksha), (BV-34) (RRV2-2) Supreme soul, representing Krishna personally in every heart as the silent witness and friend and Who, if required, acts as the inner teacher.

Silent Witness: Change Your World, Pray Sincerely

In time of spiritual need and strength I silently utter prayers that come to my mind, often from various faiths. I repeat them to still a restless, turbulent mind. Sincerity of action is important. It is alarming, disturbing, terrifying and heartbreaking to witness religious strife and the atrocities that are taking place in the name of religion.

We don't have to comprehend each and every ritual. It is more important to be a good human being - this is what God expects of each one of us irrespective of our religion.

Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - Mohammed Bouyeri - Arrest

Mohammed Bouyeri was arrested on November 2, 2004, shortly after the death of Theo van Gogh and close to the scene of the crime after an exchange of gunfire with the police in which he was shot in the leg. Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - Aegean civilization - The discovery of Aegean civiliation

The curtain-wall and towers of the Mycenaean citadel, its gate with heraldic lions, and the great "Treasury of Atreus" had borne silent witness for ages before Heinrich Schliemann's time; but they were supposed only to speak to the Homeric, or at farthest a rude Heroic beginning of purely Hellenic, civilization. It was not until Schliemann exposed the contents of the graves which lay just inside the gate, that scholars recognized the advanced stage ...

Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - John F. Kennedy assassination - Recordings of the assassination

No radio or television stations broadcast the assassination live, because the area through which the motorcade was traveling was not considered important enough for a live broadcast. Most media crews were not even with the motorcade but instead were waiting, at the Trade Mart , in anticipation for Kennedy's arrival. Those members of the media that were with the motorcade were riding at the rear of the procession. However, Kennedy's last seconds of life traveling through Dealey Plaza were recorded on silent 8 mm film for the 26.6 secon ...

Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - Neurofunk - History

No one truly knows where the term "Neurofunk" originated, but some say it was first mentioned in the book Energy Flash by Simon Reynolds (ISBN 0-330-35056-0), a history of Rave and Dance Music Culture. The roots of Neurofunk can be traced back to the late 60´s, mid 70´s period of Miles Davis when he fused Jazz with Rock and Funk rhythms while switching his trumpet on to a stack of marshall amps and to wah-wah pedals, giving it a twisted, distorted sound effect to it. His drummers played by advancing and delaying the beats sim ...

Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - Derry - Economy

The economy of Derry was based significantly on the textile industry until relatively recently. For many years women were the sole wage earners working in the shirt factories while the men predominantly in comparison had high levels of unemployment [4]. This led to significant male emigration [5]. In more recent times the textile industry jobs have increasingly moved to the far east, leaving Derry to bear an increased jobless total. The history of shirt making in Derry dates back as far as 1831 and is said to have been started by William Sco ...

Silent Witness: Encyclopedia II - Derry - History

Derry is one of the longest continuously inhabited places in Ireland. The earliest historical references date to the sixth century A.D. when a monastery was founded there by St. Columba, but for thousands of years before that people had been living in the vicinity. Colonists organised by London livery companies through The Honourable The Irish Society arrived in the 1600s as part of the plantation of Ulster, and built the walled city of Londonderry across the Foyle from the earlier town. The city has long been a focal point for important events in ...
