This law applies to every entity living or dead, big or small, from individual to communities, societies to nations. Paticca-samuppada is also called the law of cause and effect. Paticca means 'dependent upon’, samuppada means 'arising’. This doctrine is applied to the wheel of life, which consists of 12 interdependent causes and effects.
