Festivals - The Holi
FestivalHoli:
IN
DAYS of yore, there were communities of cannibals in India. They caused much
havoc. They threatened the lives of many innocent people. One of them was
Holika or Putana. She took immense delight in devouring children. Sri Krishna
destroyed her and thus saved the little children. Even today, the effigy or
figure of Holika is burnt in the fire. In South India, the clay figure of Cupid
is burnt. This is the origin of the great festival of Holi.

Eternal DilemmaGrihastha vs Sanyas - The Eternal
Dilemma
Once, a king asked his guru: Who is
superior, a sanyasi or a householder? In response, the
guru took him to a kingdom where the king had announced that his daughter's
husband would be given half the kingdom. The princess chose a sanyasi
, who refused to marry her. Even after the king offered his entire kingdom,
the sanyasi walked away. The guru and his king-disciple followed the
princess, whom they found crying in the forest where the sanyasi
had disappeared. Hungry and lost, the three lit a fire for warmth.

The Hindu Godess Mother SaraswathiMOTHER
SARASWATHI
The presiding Deity over Creation and Dissolution
Mother
Saraswathi, is divine knowledge personified, the embodiment of knowledge of the
Absolute. The sound of Her celestial veena awakens the notes of the sublime
utterances of the Upanishads which reveal the Truth, and the sacred
monosyllable, Om. She bestows the knowledge of the supreme, mystic sound and
then gives full knowledge of the Self as represented by Her pure, dazzling snow-white
apparel. Therefore, to propitiate Saraswathi, the giver of knowledge, is the
third stage.

Sivananda.

channel.
This FAQ gives an overview of Siddha Mahayoga. Part I of III.
In Part III: 1) What are kriyas?, 2) So how do kriyas purify
my consciousness?, 3) Are these kriyas some sort of self-hypnosis or some sort
New Age phenomenon?, 4) Haven't a number of well-known teachers criticized
kriyas?, 5) Don't they say that kundalini is a force that needs control?, What
is the philosophy of siddha mahayoga?, 6) What is the precise role of the guru
in siddha mahayoga?, 7) What teachers give shaktipat initiation?, 8) Where can
I learn more?
