Sata-rupa
Sata-rupa (Sanskrit) [from sata hundred + rupa form, body] The hundred-formed one; applied to Vach who, as the feminine Brahma or universal nature, assumes myriad forms. Hundred here does not denote a specific numerical limit, but is used as the Greek word myriad (10,000) often is, to signify an immense quantity; albeit the number has a distinct occult significance likewise. According to archaic Hindu legend, Sata-rupa, as nature, was the daughter of Brahma, and likewise the mother of the first manu, called Svayambhuva. Vach-sata-rupa, vac-sata-rupa Vach-sata-rupa vac-sata-rupa (Sanskrit) The goddess in a hundred forms, or Vach as the immanent feminine aspect of divinity in the innumerable phases and forms of nature. Vach as Sata-rupa is the divine creative activity unfolded into the ten planes and their many subplanes of the universe. Each of these has its own keynotes and subordinate keynote. The union of Svayambhuva-Manu with Vach-sata-rupa, his own daughter (here representing the first manifestation of prakriti), is explained cosmically as the symbol of the root-life, the germ from which spring all the solar systems, worlds, and gods, because here Svaymbhuva-Manu is the cosmic manu; on the smaller scale, he with his consort plays the same role in the planetary chains of the solar system, and on a still smaller scale on any globe thereof. In another early Hindu myth, Sata-rupa was at once the other half and the daughter of Brahma, and from their association, bipolar in character, sprang the first manu called Svayambhuva. | | | Sata-rupa: One Thousand Names Of Devi Lalita The Lalitasahasranama enumerates the one thousand names of Devi as Lalita-parameshwari . When Manmata , the god of love, was reduced to ashes by Shiva’s opening his third eye, the ashes were collected by Chitrakarman, one of Shiva’s attendants, who used it for drawing the figure of a man. When Shiva glanced at the figure, it leaped into life at once. The artist advised the person so created to pray to Shiva, by reciting the Sata-Rudriya. Pleased at his devotion, Shiva blessed him with the overlordship of the world for 60,000 years. On hearing this, Brahma cried in dismay, '' Bhand, Bhand ’’ and so the person came to have the name Bhanda. | | | Sata-rupa: Encyclopedia II - Fibre Channel - HistoryFibre Channel started in 1988, with ANSI standard approval in 1994, as a way to simplify the HIPPI system then in use for similar roles. HIPPI used a massive 50-pair cable and gigantic connectors, and had limited cable lengths. Fibre Channel was primarily interested in simplifying the connections and increasing the lengths, as opposed to increasing speeds. Later it broadened its focus to address SCSI disk storage, providing higher speeds and far greater numbers of connected devices.
It also added support for any number of "upper layer" protocols, including SCSI, ATM, and I ...

 | | | Sata-rupa: Encyclopedia II - Fibre Channel - Fibre Channel layersFibre Channel is a layered protocol. It consists of 5 layers, namely:
FC0 The physical layer, which includes cables, fiber optics, connectors etc.
FC1 The data link layer, which implements the 8b/10b encoding and decoding of signals.
FC2 The network layer, defined by the FC-PI-2 standard, consists of the core of FC.
FC3 The common services layer, a thin layer that could eventually implement functions like encryption or RAID.
FC4 The Protocol Mapping layer. Layer in which other protocols, such as SCSI, are encapsulate ...

 | | | Sata-rupa: Encyclopedia II - Fibre Channel - Fibre Channel InfrastructureFibre Channel switches are divided into two classes of switches. These classes are not part of the standard, and the classification of every switch is left up to the manufacturer.
Director switches are characterized by offering a high port-count in a modular (slot-based) chassis with no single point of failure (high availability).
Fabric switches are typically fixed-configuration (sometimes semi-modular) non-redundant switches.
Brocade, *Cisco and *McData provide both D ...
