A Wisdom Archive on Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space

Sacred Geometry is about everything in existence having an underlying invisible geometric structure that makes shape and form what it is in the natural world. Sacred Geometry is the fundamental principle of The Creative Intelligence that orders chaos to take form in infinite diversity via the medium of archetypal patterns based on precise mathematical relationships. The wisdom of Sacred Geometry and proportions play an important part in Feng Shui, Vastu and Architecture.

On this page the different aspects of Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space will be presented in depth.

The Sacred Geometry and space of Spiritual Sites

The research and study of Sacred Spaces and Sites have been the focus of Martin Gray for more than 20 years. Martin Gray is an anthropologist and photographer specializing in the study of Sacred Power Places. During a twenty-year period he has journeyed to more than 1,000 holy places in 80 countries.

"Since prehistoric times, certain places have exerted a mysterious attraction on billions of people around the world. Many cultures of antiquity recognized the existence of these sites, called power places or sacred sites, and marked their geographic locations in a variety of ways. The names of such places are familiar to us all; they include Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, the Pyramids, Jerusalem, Banaras and Mecca. Power places are found all across the planet in the form of sacred mountains, healing springs, oracular caverns, enchanted forest glens and places of divine revelation."
Martin Gray

We also recommend another article by Martin Gray explaining more about the many aspects of Sacred Space and Sites. He classifies the many factors influencing a sacred site in the following four categories:
1) The influences of the Earth.
2) The influences of celestial objects.
3) The influences of the structures and artifacts at the sacred sites.
4) The influences of the accumulated concentration of a charged field of psychic power deriving from the focused intention, prayers and meditations of millions of pilgrims over long periods of time.

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: Kalki - Questions & Answers

Kalki, or Sri Kalki Bhagavan, is the founder of the Golden Age Foundation, which has founded the Oneness Festival and The World University of Consciousness together with the Experience Foundation.

Here are some questions and answers with Kalki Bhagvan:

Creating sacred Space with Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the art of placement - a guiding philosophy to create a sacred space and harmony by looking at our environments and how the balance of energies can affect every part of life. All we are and do is connected to the environment, Mother Earth and Chi, the natural Order or Energy which permeates the universe.

The key to Feng Shui is balance; coordinating time, placement, space and energy to maximum effect, based on the interplay between people and their universe. Siou Foon Lee is an experienced Feng Shui practioner and teacher who will present at the Oneness Festival. The following article explain how we may create a sacred space and open the door to Chi by utliziling the principles of Feng Shui.

Mathematical Harmony in the Solar System?

In this article Arne Groth, an expert on Dowsing and Geomancy, describes the results of some of his research that has led to the so-called 'frequency ladder'.

The phenomena of dowsing has amazed and captured man both in the past and today. Many people have wanted to displace these phenomena to the world of fantasy. But this is not done so easily in our time as we find regularities and systems showing how the registered earth radiation appears and affects us. This article also briefly repeat some different types of earth radiation and associated phenomena that can be detected by the dowsing rod. Read the article:

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: : Sacred Geometry and the Mayan Calendar

Mayan Calendar Researcher Ian Xel Lungold explains the connection between the Mayan Calendar and Sacred Geometry. One essential point is the pattern displayed by the Mayan calendar. It is built upon a particular ratio, 13 : 20. These proportions are the true basis of all sacred geometry. In his study of sacred geometry, he found that all forms and understandings boil down to one ratio: one-third to two-thirds. This is in no way an exact number system, but a general pattern that Creation naturally follows. Our consciousness is based on this ratio.

Sacred Geometry: YANTRAS - What is a Yantra?

All ancient cultures had sacred geometric designs representative of their Gods, which had a mantra (or sacred sound vibration) that corresponded to it. The Indians, Egyptians, Jews, Chinese, and Mayans all had systems of "planetary yantras" used to combat malefic influences. Yantra is the ultimate "symbology". In the Vedic culture we find much power and energy said to be held within sacred geometric symbols. They are to be found throughout sacred scriptures, carved in stone, hidden within paintings and in temples.

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: Sacred waters around the World.

Since prehistoric times sacred places have exerted a mysterious attraction on billions of people around the world. Ancient legends and modern day reports tell of extraordinary things that have happened to people while visiting these places. Different sacred sites have the power to heal the body, enlighten the mind, increase creativity, develop psychic abilities, and awaken the soul to a knowing of its true purpose in life.

Normally, when one thinks of such places, the mind imagines terrestrial locations, fixed and unmoving, such as mountains, lands and caves. But the planet is a water place too with more than 70% of the surface of the earth covered with water. Many sacred sites are connected to water.

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: Pilgrimage and the lure of sacred sites

Since the dawn of human time people have described certain places as being holy or magical, as having a concentrated power or presence of spirit. Ancient legends, historical records and contemporary reports tell of extraordinary, even miraculous happenings at these places. It is a curious fact, however, that these sacred sites, so significant to human culture are so little known beyond their own religious traditions. Of enormous importance, they have received only limited attention from social anthropologists, cultural geographers and religious historians. Why this remarkable omission of awareness and understanding?

Sacred Places: Tree Of Knowledge Can Liberate You

Siddhartha Gautam roamed in search of the secret of sorrow and suffering. At Gaya, a village on the banks of the river Niranjana in Bihar, he sat in silent contemplation under a banyan tree.

He attained enlightenment there, and became known as the Buddha. The spot began to be referred to as the Throne of Wisdom, and the banyan tree is now known as the Eternal Wisdom Tree, the Akshaya Bodhibriksha .

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: In Praise of Trees - Nature's Gift

A tree is a beautiful expression of mother earth's creativity. It has shakti . It restores balance in the environment by its positive force. A tree doesn't have a mind of its own, only the cosmic heart of the universe. It responds to human sentiments.

The pipal tree is sacred to Hindus and Buddhists - the Buddha attained nirvana under this tree. In the Bhagavad Gita Krishna said: "I am as strong as the pipal is among trees." Pipal and tulsi play significant roles in Hindu rituals. The neem tree is the favourite of Durga, and it is grown to ward off evil spirits. The Avdhumra tree is believed to be the abode of Lord Dattatreya, so it is never cut down

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: Back to Basics: Nature Talk

Our love and concern for animals emerge out of two basic postulates of Indian philosophy. One, that like us, every plant and living being is the ansha or part of the one Param Brahma, the Omnipotent One, and two, that born of the one earth mother all of them have equal right on all resources. So they are like our own siblings. All life forms have a symbiotic relationship - we are all linked together and our actions are bound to have an effect on our environment and other living beings.

Sacred Geometry and Sacred Space: Man not Measure Of All Things

Man is no longer to be the measure of all things, the centre of the universe. He has been measured and found to be an undistinguished bit of matter, different in no essential way from bacteria, stones and trees. His goals and purposes, his egocentric notions of past, present and future; his faith in his power to predict and through prediction to control his destiny - all these are called into question, considered irrelevant, or deemed trivial.
