Realisation: Impertinent Query, Profound Answer

" That is the essence of science: Ask an impertinent question and you are on the way to the pertinent answe r", wrote Dr J Bronowski in Ascent of Man.

This statement is probably equally - or perhaps more - valid in our spiritual quests. The Kathopanishad starts with Nachiketa posing a question to his father Vajasravasa, who was giving away gifts after a Yagna .

Realisation: Encyclopedia II - Ostpolitik - Intention and Realisation

The goal of the Ostpolitik of the 1970s was to surmount but not to reverse the existing status quo between the two German states, which were formed in 1948 after World War II, and to ultimately lead to their reunification, while giving up the goal of immediate reunification as a prerequisite to all other decisions. Among the elements of Ostpolitik was abandonment of the Hallstein Doctrine and recognition of the Oder-Ne ...

Realisation: The Art Of Living In Solitariness

There exists a misconception in the field of western psychology, that one who is self-centred, turns out to be selfish. Spirituality or the goal of self-realisation is perceived as creating self-engrossed and selfish people who vitiate the character of society.

Self-realisation may mean self-engrossment but a self-engrossed person cannot be selfish; these are two different things. A selfish person does not know his inner self. There is an inverse relation between selfishness and self-realisation. The higher the degree of self-realisation, the lesser the selfishness.

Realisation: Matter And Energy, Brahman And Maya

Spirituality is man’s realisation of the spirit. According to advaita , the non-dualistic philosophy of Vedanta , this spirit, which is also called the Brahman , created this entire universe through matter and energy.

All objects are the outcome of one primal matter. All natural forces like gravitation, and thoughts and feelings on the consciousness level, are the outcome of a primal energy called prana .

Realisation: Cosmic Vision Alone Reveals the Truth

True realisation takes place on knowing and seeing God in His transcendental form. It is a metaphysical experience within the human body. The manifestation of inherent divinity is in reality the revelation of the divine self of man. This is not different from the Supreme Self that permeates even the tiniest particle in the universe. It is accessible to all human beings.

Realisation: Cessation of Thought Leads to True Self

The sense of "I" pertains to the person. When a man knows his true self for the first time, something else arises from the depths of his being and takes possession of him.

That something is beyond mind and body; it is infinite, divine, eternal. Some people call it the kingdom of heaven, others call it the soul and still others nirvana . Hindus call it moksha or liberation.

You may give it what name you like but when it happens, a man has truly found himself. The recognition of pure being - the absolute - is the supreme and ultimate truth.

Realisation: Yoga for Self-realisation

Yoga-II

Yoga is primarily a process of self-culture. Its aim is the attainment of spiritual perfection or Self-realisation. The process of Yoga pertains to the control of the physical organs, the breath, the mind and the senses.

Realisation: Rise Above Dogma, Realise The Truth

Oneness: Rise Above Dogma, Realise The Truth

When I pass by the neighbourhood mosque, I bow my head in respect just as I do when I pass by the temple. The mullah's call to the faithful turns me towards prayer and God. I go through the same upsurge of emotions when I visit a church or gurdwara. When I bow my head in humility to Christ and the Guru Granth Sahib, I see in them my beloved Lord Krishna. Similarly, when I hear the Buddhist chant: ''Buddham Sharanam Gachchhami'', it continues to reverberate within me for long after, giving me the same sense of peace I experience when I say my usual prayers.

Realisation: In Search of the Real 'Me'

"Hey, I'm in Nirvana!" We talk like this when we feel good. But what is it like to actually attain nirvana, otherwise known as moksha or self-realisation?

Self-realisation is the goal of life. Vedic rishis found that everything in the world that blooms is also subject to ultimate decay. Are we here just to live a brief life and then pass away? They reasoned that life cannot be devoid of some higher purpose.

Realisation: Yoga For Self-Realisation

Yoga has eight steps for self-realization. Of these two are most important. These need to be mastered before heading towards the other six because without these the asanas will end up being just mere exercises to keep the body fit.

The first two steps are called Yam and Niyam . These need to be followed internally for preparing oneself for the higher consciousness.

Realisation: Truth Is a Pathless Land - Krishnamurti

J Krishnamurti departed from this world 17 Februarys ago. He was a philosopher deeply sceptical of the smokescreen that is the mind. Krishnamurtis every realisation was the out-come of a spontaneous, non-biased, non-preconceived way of living, with no mind playing the filter. In truth he had little to teach, save that knowledge is not taught but realised. But his audiences made a teaching even out of that!

Realisation: The Certainties of A Changing World

Spiritual Growth: The Certainties of A Changing World

You can be at ease with the uncertainty of the world when you realise the certainty of the consciousness. Often people do just the opposite. They are certain about the world but uncertain about God. They rely on something that is not reliable, and they get upset. Uncertainty causes craving for stability. The most stable thing in the universe is our Self.

Realisation: What Is Brahmacharya?

Complete celibacy is the master-key to open the realms of elysian Bliss. The avenue to the abode of Supreme Peace begins from Brahmacharya or purity. Brahmacharya is the vow of celibacy in thought, word and deed, by which one attains Self-realisation or reaches Brahman.

From "Easy Steps to Yoga" by Sri Swami Sivananda.

Realisation: Encyclopedia II - Valorisation - Valorisation and the realisation of capital

Valorisation of capital is for Marx not at all the same as the "realisation of capital". Value may be added in the production process, but this additional value may not be realised unless the outputs are sold at a favorable price. At an unfavourable price, output is sold without increasing capital assets. So, new value added in production may be lost to the producer or owner, when the new product is traded. In reality, Marx argues, the valorisation of capital in one enterprise is dependent on the valorisation of many rel ...

Realisation: Encyclopedia - Brahmin

A Brahmin (pronunciation is Brahmann) is a member of the Hindu priestly caste. The word is related to, but not to be confused with, the Hindu religious conception of the transcendent and immanent supreme soul, "Brahman". The word Brahmin is said to literally mean One who has realised or attempts to realise Brahman. The traditional duties of this caste include studying Hindu religious scriptures of Vedas and preserving them in memory and transmitting them orally to the next generation. Additionally, they were also ...

Realisation: Encyclopedia - Jivanmukta

Jivanmukta is a unique concept in Hindu philosophy, and that too, particularly in the school of philosophy known as advaita. The word means 'Liberated even when alive'. The ultimate goal of Hinduism is Liberation from the cycle of births and deaths. This Liberation is technically called 'moksha'.In all schools of Hindu philosophy except advaita, Liberation is necessarily an event after the death of the body, if at all. But the advaita school of Shankara, envisages that Man is already liberated, his soul is already free, he has only to realise so. So such souls who have had this realisation, are called

Realisation: Encyclopedia - Manifestation

Manifestation refers to a concept of either reoccurring or transitive phenomenae, as instances which become "manifest" or "realised." In Medicine, the term refers to the symptoms or observable conditions which are seen as a result of some disease. A disease can be separated into etiology and manifestation, which, simplistically, correspond respectively to cause and effect. Manifesting is a term often used in New Thought and New Age circles to refer to the belief that one can by force o

Realisation: Encyclopedia - Spiritual Hierarchy

Spiritual Hierarchy is a term that comes from Theosophy, also knows as the Ageless Wisdom teachings. It represents a group of self-realised people, and their disciples, who are best known as the Masters of Wisdom. They help humanity from behind the scenes on the invisible mental plane but are now increasingly making their existence known on the physical plane, mostly in the shape of miracles. According to the Ageless Teachings, Maitreya, the World Teac
