Interpretation - Rape
Rape Dreams of rape are dreams of violence. As a dreamer, you may find yourself as an aggressor, victim, or spectator to the crime. In dreams of this nature, your role and feelings about the others in the event are crucial to understanding the meaning of the dream. If you have recurring dreams of being the victim of rape, you should try to determine if post-traumatic stress is a factor in your dreams. Being a victim in a non-recurring rape dream usually indicates a message that you are being personally violated, thwarted, or ruthlessly exploited in waking life. In dreams of this nature, the aggressor is a faceless adversary. This could be explained by the fact that people who get close enough to us in life to exploit us often are significant to us in other, more positive ways. The dream is not meant to have an actual aggressor, but simply serve as a warning that you're being overpowered. Being the aggressor in a rape usually indicates powerful unresolved or unexpressed anger at someone. As with the victim scenario above, the other party to the rape is often faceless. For example, if you harbor anger towards an opposite gender boss, parent, teacher or colleague, rape dreams may occur. Finding a source of unresolved anger in waking life can provide great insight into the meaning of this dream. Identifying why you are unable to express your anger in waking life will also help. A 25-year-old woman reports: Even before I became sexually active, I remember having recurrent dreams of men tied down. I would force myself on them sexually. It was always against their will, and according to my power or desire. I never knew them, and often I did not even notice their faces. It is strange to me that I should have such dreams without even knowing what actual sex was like. This woman had a deeply troubled relationship with her father. Although there was no incest or sexual misconduct, there was little affection. The woman reports that her relationship with this parent has been very bitter and troubled. However, she notes that as the relationship improved, the dream lessened in frequency. Observing a rape is often equally troubling. This is because of the powerlessness you feel in relationship to the victim. Often there is an intuitive connection with the victim or the aggressor. In either case, the dreamer may be feeling angry or exploited in waking life. The watching is an attempt to dissociate oneself from the trauma of the event. This can allow better recognition of the relationship between aggressor and victim. Consequently, whatever psychological protection is gained by indirect participation is lost on the more complete awareness of the other characters. - Rape Rape Dreaming about being raped is a nightmare that inflicts fear and anxiety upon recall. Since rape is a brutal and deeply personal violation, it suggests that the dreamer may be feeling robbed of options and negated as a human being. In a dream, as in real life, rape have very little to do with sex. It is about power, control, anger, and other very destructive emotions. In order to understand this dream, you may need to think about the areas of your life that causes you great anxiety and fear. If you are superstitious, take this dream as a warning. Take precautions, protect yourself emotionally and physically and don't engage in careless behaviors. If you were a rape victim, the traumatic nature of this experience may cause you to have a dream like this from time to time. Pagan Paganism Dictionary II on Gothic Witchcraft Gothic Witchcraft: A postulated cult of devil worshipers invented by the medieval Church, used as the excuse for raping, torturing and killing scores of thousands of women, children and men. The cult was said to consist of people who worshiped the Christian Devil in exchange for magical powers then used to benefit themselves and harm others. Also called “Diabolic Witchcraft” and “Satanic Witchcraft.” I coined this term many years ago, before the rise of the “Goth” subculture of the 1980s. Although the tecchnique of fascination runs a borderline when considering humans, it should not be totally trashed. Using it for a love spell would be unethical, and much like committing psychological rape. But if you found yourself in an unsafe situation where your person (or friend or family member) is in real physical danger. "Lest in self defense it be", use what you need to be safe. Dictionary - Anger, wrath, resentment Dream Interpretation Anger, wrath, resentment Anger is one of our strongest emotions. It can express itself in our dreams. The dream where you are aggressive towards somebody and feel a strong anger, means that you have a deeply rooted problem within yourself, a kind of inner struggle, it might be your envy towards that person, if you feel subconsciously inferior or there was a kind of rejection which you cannot accept. A man, dreaming of sexually assaulting or raping a woman, might have a sexual problem that requires treatment. Interpretation - Victim Victim The awareness of crime in our society is creating sensitivity about the potential victimisation we all face. Dreams of being victimised are common and on the increase. You can be victimised by almost anything in a dream: beating, rape, theft, murder, a monetary swindle, an abusive sibling, parent, spouse, partner, object . . . anything. Each means of being victimised carries with it certain explicit, as well as subtle, implications. The primary considerations are how vulnerable a position were you in prior to the victimisation occurring, and who was the aggressor. Did a relationship that made you feel secure suddenly turn evil? Was it a random act of violence committed by a stranger? Did you observe or have the feeling that the aggressor knew you or that you were somehow connected with them? | | | Rape Dictionary: So not all our sexual dreams are about sex? Dream FAQ Dictionary: So not all our sexual dreams are about sex? So not all our sexual dreams are about sex? Right. Very often, our most embarrassing sexual dreams like those of having sex with someone who is gay if you are straight or vice-versa are often not about some hidden sexual desire. Usually the lover in the dream represents some part of your own personality or some goal in your life that you want to come closer to. We all sometimes use sexual imagery in dreams to express how we feel about relationships that are non-sexual, for example, if your boss is raping you in a dream, this may simply express your sense that you are being screwed by him at work. Kore-Persephone Kore-Persephone (Greek) (from kore maiden cf Ionic koure) The name under which Persephone was worshiped in Attica; one of the three aspects of the earth goddess Demeter, who appears as wife, mother, and daughter. Kore-Persephone was one of the three great Eleusianian deities, the other two being Demeter and Zagreus-Iacchos, her child. As one of the chief divinities in the Mysteries, Kore (as Demeter-Kore) was fit consort of the dragon god (Zeus who wooed her in the form of a dragon). Proclus, quoting Orpheus, says that when Persephone is united with the celestial Zeus she is then Demeter-Kore, but that when united with Pluto or Hades she is Kore-Persephone. It was by Kore as the spouse of Hades that the bright side of death was revealed. She thus belonged preeminently to the Eleusinian Mysteries and one of the mystical dramas enacted for the instruction of neophytes was the rape of Persephone in which she was represented as in possession of the third eye. Blavatsky places her among the kabiria (SD 2:363). Kore is also symbolized as the celestial weaver, who when carried off to the underworld by Hades is said to have left her webs unfinished. Proclus speaks of her as "weaving the diacosm of life" (Cratylus), and Claudianus tells of her weaving a robe for Demeter in which "she marks out the procession of the elements and the paternal seats with her needle, according to the laws of Mother Nature." Interpretation - Sex, Sexual Dreams Sex, Sexual Dreams Interpreting sexual dreams Sexual dreams are not about sex exclusively. Often they are about how we perceive people and how we think others are perceiving us. To construct a framework for interpreting sexual dreams, it is important to identify who is with us in the dream and how we feel about the experiences being had while dreaming. Certain dreams are simply romantic. Boy and girl meet in the dream state and find themselves enjoying one another. This scenario commonly involves an attractive acquaintance and a generally pleasing environment. There is no violation of taboo, except for a sense that perhaps things are moving a little fast in the nocturnal relationship. Often, the dreamer has simply acted upon a desire for a relationship with a particular person - Freud's theory of wish-fulfillment is a sufficient explanation. Other dreams begin to press on the boundaries of our taboos. These include dreams with sexual content the dreamer would consider inappropriate in waking, but participates in during the dream. These dreams can be very troubling. One can wake up feeling as though a rape was committed, a fidelity violated, or that innocence has been stripped away. Dreams of this nature may require some more thorough examination. Identifying the 'who' or 'what' that has generated discomfort is an important first step. Was it a boss, co-worker, friend? Someone much older or younger than you with whom you have an affectionate, but platonic relationship? Or was it the nature of the encounter - coerced, cheating, public, or whatever - that is the most distinct feature of the dream? Who was forcing whom? Was it a stranger who reminded you of someone you know? Representation and displacement relationships are often components of sexual dreaming. Some of these dreams indicate our own ambivalence about taboos. There is, after all, something exciting about what is forbidden. In other cases, we are expressing our own frustration with a sex life that is not satisfying. Still other times, others have violated our boundaries and we respond by thinking they have taken unmerited favours from us. In all of these cases, the dreams are worth noting and studying. By looking into what you may find abhorrent at first, you will see aspects of your personality and the relationships around you that are mostly unnoticed. Perhaps most importantly, you will become more aware of the various facets of your personality in those relationships. See also Nudity, bed, out-of-body experience, pregnancy and rape.
