Rage: Encyclopedia II - Weatherman organization - Background

The group initially emerged from the campus-based anti-war and American Civil Rights Movements of the late 1960s. During this time, United States military action in Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, continued despite the significance of an increasing global movement to stop the war. In the U.S., the anti-war sentiment had a particular impact upon the outcome of the 1968 US presidential election. With militancy gradually supplanting nonviolent forms of anti-war action, Weatherman had concluded that university-campus-based demonstrations nee ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Weatherman organization - Submersion

In 1970, following the police raid that resulted in the death of Black Panther Fred Hampton, the group issued a "Declaration of a state of War" against the United States government, using for the first time its new name, the "Weather Underground Organization" (WUO), adopting fake identities, and pursuing covert activities only. These initially included preparations for a bombing of a US military noncommissioned officers' dance at Fort Dix in what Brian Flanagan said had been intended to be "the most horrific hit the United States government ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Weatherman organization - Dissolution and Aftermath

After the group began dissolving in 1977, many members moved on to other armed revolutionary groups and were subsequently arrested and held for long periods. Very few served prison sentences for their time in the Weather Underground; the infiltration and destruction tactics used against them by COINTELPRO made much of the evidence gathered against them deemed illegally obtained and inadmissible in court. Meanwhile, Weatherman members that later revealed themselves to be law enforcement officers offered unapologetic testimonies of intentional ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Zack de la Rocha - Creative Differences

In October 2000, Zack left Rage Against the Machine, due to "creative differences." It is rumored that Tim Commerford's stunt at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, where he climbed on one of the fixtures on stage, was the catalyst for Zack's decision to leave the band. In 2001, he was recording material on separate occasions with The Roots' drummer ?uestlove and Company Flow frontman El-P. In 2002 de la Rocha appeared in a minor role on Blackalicious's Blazing Arrow, on the track "Release." He has yet to release an album, although a collaborat ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Blood Angels - Combat Doctrine

The Companies of the Blood Angels generally fight in the same fashion as other Space Marine forces. However, they cannot be counted upon to hold a position in the same disciplined way as the Ultramarines or Dark Angels, as the Black Rage can afflict any Marine in the midst of battle, inciting them to charge forward in an attempt to tear the enemy limb from limb. This often has the benefit of creating victories in the unlikeliest situations, although most Imperial Commanders will refrain from asking for the assistance of the Blood Angels unless absolutely necessary. Rage: Encyclopedia II - Zack de la Rocha - Early Musical Career

The lifestyle Beto forced upon Zack brought culture shock upon him as well as an identity crisis. He was alienated from the Chicano community and was an outsider in the California suburbs where Chicanos were typically only seen doing menial work. In high school he became involved in the punk and hardcore scene and played guitar and sang for a straight edge band called Hardstance. His interest in bands like the Sex Pistols and Bad Religion turned into an appreciation for othe ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Weatherman organization - Chronology of events

June, 1969 – The “Action Faction” of the SDS releases a detailed statement of their political ideology in the official SDS newspaper “New Left Notes.” This essay concluded with the quotation “You Don’t Need A Weatherman To Know Which Way The Wind Blows” which gave rise to its adherents being called “Weatherman.” 18 June-22, 1969 – The SDS National Convention, held in Chicago, Illinois, sees the organization collapse as a student group and the WUO seizing control of the SDS National Office. Rage: Encyclopedia II - William Congreve playwright - Fame from his play The Mourning Bride

Two of Congreve's turns of phrase have entered the English language. William Congreve playwright - Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast. ACT I. SCENE I. begins with these words: A Room of State. - The Curtain rising slowly to soft Musick, discovers ALMERIA in Mourning, LEONORA waiting in Mourning. - After the Musick ALMERIA rises from her Chair, and comes forward. Rage: Encyclopedia II - Blood Angels - Organisation

The Blood Angels and their successors adhere to the Codex Astartes in general, but deviate in several regards. The most obvious of these is the preponderance of close-combat troops. The role of Assault Marine is heavily sought, and the entire First Company fights as assault troops when not deployed as Terminators. The entire Eighth Company is tooled towards assault combat; the Marines that do not gain access to Jump Packs before a battle often deploy in support of their rapid moving brethren, throu ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Warrior World of Warcraft - The Role of a warrior

When playing in a group, the warrior is tasked with the job of keeping the monster(s) occupied (this is called keeping aggro [aggression]) so that the activities of the rest of the party, such as priests and mages, will not attract the monster's attention. This is called tanking. The reason for tanking is simple: it forces monsters to focus on the character most able to absorb damage, while preventing classes with less ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Warrior World of Warcraft - Talents

In terms of play style, a Warrior usually invests heavily into one of the three Talent trees availible. These trees are what define the Warrior class. Warrior World of Warcraft - Arms. The first is the Arms talent tree, where the last point, Mortal Strike, is the keystone to the whole build. This build focuses on big, slow weapons to achieve a high damage range, then taking advantage of it with the instant attack ability, Mortal Strike, which does weapon damage plus some more, as well as reduce healing eff ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Warrior World of Warcraft - Strategies

From the mundane 'Charge and Hamstring' to 'Shield Block and Revenge', Warriors are extremely flexible in their ability to combine abilities together to achieve devastating results. One common tactic for a Horde Warrior facing a Paladin is to take advantage of the Paladin's powerful divine shield and Blessing of Protection abilities to bandage himself up, until the Paladin's shield wears off and the fight can begin anew. A solid tactic for any Warrior facing a Rogue is to turn to face the rogue and activate Retaliation, a skill that counter ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Montgomery Burns - Age

Burns' birthday is September 15, but the year of his birth is uncertain. His age is most often mentioned as being 104 years. (Though once in the episode "Simpson and Delilah" where Homer became an executive, he stated his age as 81 after Homer guessed 102; and he once had a ninetieth birthday during the series.) The season 15 episode "The Regina Monologues" stated that his age was a three-digit number (his ATM code is his age, and he pressed four buttons, including, assumably, the enter key). In another episode he is portrayed terrorizing ch ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Montgomery Burns - State of mind

While fully alert and untouched by senility, Burns is wildly out of touch with the modern world. For example: He often slips into using language appropriate for the early 20th century or even the 19th century (such as using "score", meaning 20 years, "twain", meaning 2 years, and "post-haste", meaning rapidly, when speaking). He thinks that Prussia is still a separate country (it became a part of the newly-formed German Empire in 1871). Upon arriving at a gas station, Burns orders Marge (whom he mistakes for an ...

Rage: Encyclopedia II - Montgomery Burns - Biography

Montgomery Burns - Early life. Occasional flashbacks show his early life. When he was very young he lived happily with his loving, natural parents, little brother George, and his teddy bear Bobo. Apparently his parents even called him "Happy." He chose to give this up and live with a twisted billionaire, again reminiscent of Welles's Citizen Kane. He has since recovered the bear. His mother is still alive, despite her likely age being in the area of 120-140, and is very resentful of her son; it is mentione ...
