Created by Paul and Gail Dennison, Brain Gym (or Educational Kinesiology and Edu-K) is a sensorimotor program based on research by educational therapists, developmental optometrists, and other specialists in the fields of movement, education, and child development.

Brain Gym consists of 26 targeted activities similar to those performed naturally by young children as part of the process of brain development. varna dharma: (Sanskrit) "The way of one's kind."

The hereditary social class system, generally referred to as caste, established in India in ancient times. Within varna dharma are the many religious and moral codes which define human virtue. Varna dharma is social duty, in keeping with the principles of good conduct, according to one's community, which is generally based on the craft or occupation of the family.

Strictly speaking it encompasses two interrelated social hierarchies:  1) varna, which refers to the four classes: brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya and shudra; and  2) jati, the myriad occupational subgroups, or guilds, which in India number over 3,000. Hence this dharma is sometimes called jati dharma.

The class-caste system is still very much a part of Indian life today. Many modern Hindus propose that social status is now (and was originally) more properly determined by a person's skills and accomplishments than by birth. Mobility between jatis, or castes, within Hindu communities worldwide is limited but not impossible, and is accomplished through marrying into a new jati, or changing professions through persistence, skill and education. Shastris say that once a person breaks out of his varna or jati of birth and changes "caste," it takes three generations for his family to become fully established in that new strata of society, provided the continuity is unbroken.

Team Sports

Team sports are prevalent in our world and seem to be increasing in popularity and diversity. Dreams of team sports include the dreamer as observer, player, or coach. Often, it's simply a wish-fulfilment fantasy of wanting to be a sports legend. However, it the coaches and other players seem very familiar to you, or are actually people from facets of your waking life, the dream has more to say.

Commonly, the dream is about participation and connectedness to the common goals held by others in your life. "Being a team player" is emphasised often in work and family these days.

Whichever of the three roles you most identify with determines your self-awareness within the team sport. Observing from the audience may indicate that you are feeling "off the team" or outside the action. Observing as a player who does not enter the game suggests that you feel others are ambivalent about your skills, or you yourself may be so.

Being a player shows your willingness to participate in the game. If you have too many roles on the team or do the work of several players, it may be that you are feeling that people expect too much from you.

Finally, being the coach is a position of leadership and control. In this case, determining how the team did is important to appreciating the message of this dream.

Nirukta Vedanga: (Sanskrit) "Etymology Veda-limb."

Auxiliary Vedic texts which discuss the origin and development of words; among the four linguistic skills taught for mastery of the Vedas and the rites of yajna. Nirukta relies upon ancient lexicons, nighantu, as well as detailed hymn indices, anukramani. Five nighantus existed at the time of Yaska (320 bce), whose treatise is regarded a standard work on Vedic etymology.

dharma: (Sanskrit) "Righteousness." From dhri, "to sustain; carry, hold."

Hence dharma is "that which contains or upholds the cosmos." Dharma, religion, is a complex and all-inclusive term with many meanings, including: divine law, law of being, way of righteousness, religion, ethics, duty, responsibility, virtue, justice, goodness and truth. Essentially, dharma is the orderly fulfillment of an inherent nature or destiny. Relating to the soul, it is the mode of conduct most conducive to spiritual advancement, the right and righteous path.

Gemini: Gemini’s best quality is versatility. The worst quality is changeableness. A key phrase is “I think.” Being a mutable sign, Gemini is changeable, and this can be the best or worst of qualities. Your versatility allows you to learn a little about just about everything and to develop skills in many areas. This makes for a good executive or manger, as you are able to oversee multiple activities and keep track of many projects at once. Other people can almost see the wheels turning. HOODOO: Like Santería, Hoodoo is a blending the worship of traditional Catholic saints, Christ and the Gods (loas) of Africa, for example, the Hoodoo practitioner could beg for intercession from St. Patrick and really be calling on their serpent God, Danbhalah-Wedo.

Hoodoo worshippers believe that the work of the loas appears in every facet of daily life and that pleasing the loas will gain the faithful health, wealth, and spiritual contentment. The loas speak to their devotees through spirit possession but only for a short time during ceremonies and manifest to protect, punish, confer skills and talents, prophesy, cure illness, exorcise spirits, give counsel, assist in rituals and take sacrificial offerings.

The priest (houngan) or priestess (mambo) acts as an intermediary to summon the loa and help the loa to depart when his or her business is finished. Magick, for both good and evil, is an integral part of Hoodoo. Evil is merely the mirror image of good, the magick of the spirits is there to be used, and if that is for evil, so be it. GARDENING THERAPY

Horticultural therapists (HT) are specially educated and trained members of rehabilitation and therapy teams who involve patients in all phases of gardening.

HT professionals use this type of treatment as a complementary therapy along with doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, behavioral specialists, vocational skills instructors and others. Horticultural therapists are experts on the medical and psychological benefits of gardening and facilitating improvement of the patients' physical, social and mental well-being. 

Horticultural therapy can be applied at hospitals and institutions, vocational training facilities, nursing homes and assisted living centers, halfway houses, rehabilitation facilities, correctional facilities, schools, arboreta and botanical gardens, farms and horticultural businesses, and community gardens.

Everyone who enjoys gardening knows that working with plants fulfills basic human needs. Horticultural therapy can facilitate these benefits on many levels. Groups for whom horticultural therapy has proven to be beneficial include people who are physically disabled, mentally ill, developmentally disabled, elderly, substance abusers, terminally ill and socially disadvantaged. It can be used with families, as therapy for an ailing member, or a memorial to a departed loved one. Gardening therapy may be as simple as plants on a patio, perhaps with small sculptures. Ill children and the elderly benefit from directly experiencing nature: Planting, watching their plants grow and enjoying the blossoming flowers.
