- Pluto (Hades)
Pluto (Hades) Pluto or Hades are synonymous with hell. Pluto is the brother of Zeus and Poseidon and the ruler of the underworld, or the land of the dead. The kingdom of the dead is located underneath the surface of the earth. It is not only the holding place for the eternally damned, but is symbolic of metamorphoses, mineral wealth, germination and the transition from death to life. From a psychoanalytic point of view, Pluto may represent the deepest and the oldest part of the psyche. It may be the holding place of the darkest and most negative and disturbing elements of the individual. The most destructive emotions and the greatest fears may be hidden there. However, this dark part of the psyche may also hold the greatest amount of transformative energy and power. As the unconscious demons begin to surface and are processed and then assimilated by the conscious mind, the individual begins to develop and experience feelings of completeness and wholeness. Astrologically, Pluto is symbolic of radical reconstruction that rejects harmful elements and is built on a solid foundation. Seeing Pluto in dreams seems to be an extremely valuable message from the unconscious. It suggests that the dreamer needs to contemplate and to explore his inner world; to face his fears and negative traits, to travel inward and then to emerge stronger and more alive than before the psychic or soulful journey began.

- Mercury (Hermes)
Mercury (Hermes) As a metal, mercury is a universal alchemical symbol representing the yin. It is the symbol of the passive and the undifferentiated state which may be found deep within the psyche. Chinese refer to it as "liquid silver" and it corresponds to the dragon and to bodily fluids of blood, semen, water and, at times, to the kidneys. The planet Mercury may be seen as following the Sun (universal father; consciousness; life) and the Moon (universal mother; birth; unconscious). In Greek mythology Hermes was the messenger of the gods and the god of speed. This intelligent and quick witted immortal, easily traveled between heaven, earth and the underworld. Seeing the planet Mercury or the metal in your dream may represent your need for communication, adaptation and movement. All of these may be necessary for daily life. However, this powerful dream symbol may be calling your attention to more personal and intrinsic matters. It may suggest a need to look carefully into your internal world. By doing so, you may become aware of a need to the develop a more fluid ability to navigate within your psyche, which includes your thoughts, motives, feelings and intuition; then notice the way all of these components are translated into and effect daily life.

SATURNALIA
SATURNALIA The prototypical Roman holiday in which all things were permitted, from December 17th to the 24th. Public banquets were held in which masters served their slaves and criminals were pardoned. A central place of honor to children and the aged was reserved. Gifts were exchanged and social games prevailed. Above all, it was the festival that honored Time and the Golden Age of the Past. It is east to see why Xmas in preempting and perverting this feriae servorum has developed so bloated and grotesque a stranglehold on the Euro-American psyche.

Psuchikos, Psychikos
Psuchikos, Psychikos (Greek) The adjective of psuche or psyche, manas in conjunction with kama. In its mental aspects psyche is the distorted reflection of the higher aspect of manas, whereas the nous is manas overenlightened by buddhi. In the New Testament psuchikos is translated "natural" (1 Cor 15:46) and "sensual" (James 3:15) and thus is confused with the vital-emotional or corporeal parts of man, and the teaching of the duality of the human being is lost sight of. The correct word for the vital-physical or "natural" part of man is somatikos. See also PSYCHIC POWERS

WORD MAGIC, MAGICAL SENTENCES
WORD MAGIC (or MAGICAL SENTENCES.) Magical words or phrases are social techniques that double as talismans or ritualistic paraphernalia and serve as short-cuts to reality alteration. They take many forms, some of which are the following: Setting-Up Exercises -- Suggest that something of moment is afoot: "I swear by the Bolts of Besqul..." or "I externalize thee..." Magical Formulae -- Serve as exhortations in the guise of threats: "Those who do not follow will be left behind!" or "Who stabbeth me, bleedeth himself!" Special Effects -- Used to induce the cooperation of the social environment: "Burn, Fire Perpetua!" Consensus Modifiers -- Rework consensus through overt assault on the status quo or through the introduction of novelty: "For it is written but no longer true..." Also open (and unconventional) evangelism eventually has an impact: "May Thantifaxath grant!" Power Implementation -- Such formulae are positive, reinforcing and tied in creatively to reality because once uttered, they immediately achieve their ends: "You are herewith ordered to report to ..." In magic, power implementations are generally surreptitious and operate in the world with infinite subtlety. Statements such as, "Be thou clean O leper!" are extremely bold (and rare). However, the most irresistible overt usage is the curse. A curse propels the victim's ego into a horrible locale or state of being that he already secretly fears ("May your body house maggots in Hell!" or "You are a Toad!"). The ego is bound to languish in the wake of the curse, if it is successful. And when the self desiccates, the body quickly follows. That's why insults generate violence. The injured psyche needs to re-establish its loss of position.

Epithumia
Epithumia (Greek) In Greek metaphysics, equivalent in the human constitution to kama or the desire principle. Psyche or soul was a union of bios (physical vitality, prana), epithumia, and phren or mens (mind, manas). (BCW 1:292, 365) "Pythagoras and Plato both divided soul into two representative parts, independent of each other -- the one, the rational soul, or ((logos)), the other irrational, ((alogos))-- the latter being again subdivided into two parts or aspects the ((thymichon)) and the ((epithymichon)), which, with the divine soul and its spirit and the body, make the seven principles of Theosophy" (BCW 7:229). - Neptune (Poseidon)
Neptune (Poseidon) The Roman god Neptune and the Greek god Poseidon is the god of the waters of the earth. He is also known as the god of the earthquakes, as the movements of the oceans create disturbances on the earth. Poseidon is not a kind god, but a terrifying one that creates stormy seas and puts fears into mortals; his offspring are monsters. Poseidon is the son of Crones and the brother of Zeus and Pluto. He has a strong sexual appetite and has affairs with countless goddesses and mortal woman. He represents the primeval earth before civilization and spiritualization. Poseidon may resist the evolution of man (consciousness) and possibly this is why he appears so angry and inaccessible. He symbolizes a powerful part of the unconscious. In astrology, the planet Neptune represents the unconscious forces and powers of the human psyche. It is believed to influence paranormal faculties, psychic abilities, irrational fears and insanity. The unconscious shows itself in dreams. However, we do not understand the language of dreams. It takes a very long time to develop the ability to interpret dreams with accuracy and satisfaction. Thus, the forces that come up from the unconscious are often frightening and disturbing. The unconscious holds different information than the conscious mind: It may be the dwelling place of intuition and the sixth sense. Dreaming of Neptune is symbolic of the unconscious, which holds positive and negative attributes, just like the conscious mind does. The information that is coming up in your dream may be interpreted based on what is occurring in daily life. Are you experiencing moments of "madness" or are you developing intuitive abilities and using them to guide your decisions?

- Umbrella
Umbrella In dreams umbrellas usually symbolize the device that the conscious mind uses to protect itself from the unconscious. Umbrellas might symbolize our unwillingness to deal with negative emotions, psychological baggage, or trauma. If the umbrella is opened, you may be protecting yourself from unconscious materials. If the umbrella is closed, then you may be prepared and be willing to deal with the unfamiliar psyche. Old dream interpretations say that the umbrella is the symbol of security. If the umbrella is broken or turned inside out, your ultimate achievement is possible but delayed.

- Numbers
Numbers Interpreting numbers that we see in dreams may be difficult. Their meaning my be very personal, such as a reflection of financial concern or any other area of daily life represented by numbers. One way to interpret numbers is to try to see how they are specifically related to you. (E.g. If you have the number 25 in your dream. Your house number is 12 while your parent's number is 13. Together they make 25, and this dream could have been addressing issues in regard to you and your parents.) On the other hand, numbers in dreams may represent global concepts and point to collective dilemmas. Some interesting interpretations would include the following: - even numbers might represent the feminine while odd numbers the masculine.
- Number 2 - psychic development and doubling; something new coming up with the potential for building
- Number 3 - the trinity; it is an active or a process number (something is going on in the psyche).
- Number 4 - completion and femininity
- Number 5 - life force; refers to the five fingers and five appendages of the body.
- Number 7 - sacred number in Christianity and Judaism; the highest stage of illumination and spirituality.
- Number 12 - represents time and may mark the most important cycles in life.

- Aeroplane, Airplane
Aeroplane, Airplane Being a passenger in a plane This dream can be mundane or remarkable, since some people hold an irrational fear of flying, while others are indifferent. A plane appearing in the dreams of those nervous of flying is an attempt by one part of the psyche to quell perceived irrationality in another part. Dreams about flying as a passenger may hold a great sense of adventure for the dreamer. This can be due to the journey, the speed, or the destinations available through air travel. Also, it may be due to potential dangers, such as hijacking, which the dreamer may heroically overcome. Piloting a plane Dreams about flying in a plane as the pilot vary tremendously. Is the dreamer a competent person either in sleep or waking? This may indicate a sense of control over circumstances. Does the plane crash? This may reveal a sense of inadequacy or incompetence. Who are the passengers on the plane? This may reveal who you feel responsible for in life, with your flight skills revealing your sense of how well you are fulfilling those responsibilities. If you are piloting the plane, are you competent to do so or are you overwhelmed by the responsibility? Do the other passengers accept or ignore your presence?

Dictionary - Witch
Witch 1. If the dreamer is a woman, dreaming of a witch could represent her own senex, or that part of her psyche that is older and wiser. Thus any message that she receives from the witch is important, and should be written down immediately upon awakening. 2. If the dreamer is a man, he needs to take a good, long, honest look at his attitude toward women. He may be caught up in the notion that all women are out to get him. 3. If the witch is friendly in the dream, whether the dreamer is a man or a woman, it augurs an increased social life. 4. If the witch is the ominous Halloween figure, rough times in romance lie ahead.
