At the Rio Earth Summit in June 1992, environmental issues were hotly debated and an attempt was made to arrive at a blueprint for future conservation efforts. A document, known as Agenda 21, was issued, which provided 27 guiding principles for sustainable development. Interestingly, several of the 'Rio principles' for environmental conservation were taught and practised in ancient India. The modern holistic approach for ecological balance is reflected in the most ancient of Indian scriptures, the Vedas.

Bicycle helmet - How they work.
There are two main types of helmet: hard shell and soft/micro shell (no-shell helmets are now rare). In both types impact energy is absorbed as a stiff foam liner is crushed, up to the point where the liner is crushed to its minimum thickness, or the helmet shatters, after which no further energy is absorbed. Collision energy varies with the square of impact speed: a typical helmet will absorb the energy of a fall from a stationary or slow-moving bicycle, an impact speed of around ...

| | | | | | protection: Encyclopedia II - Corrosion - Corrosion in nonmetalsMost ceramic materials are almost entirely immune to corrosion. The strong ionic and/or covalent bonds that hold them together leave very little free chemical energy in the structure; they can be thought of as already corroded. When corrosion does occur, it is almost always a simple dissolution of the material or chemical reaction, rather than an electrochemical process. A common example of corrosion protection in ceramics is the lime added to soda-lime glass to reduce its solubility in water; though it is not nearly as soluble as pure sodiu ...

Powerful Magnifiers of Energy - CrystalsCrystals
are tools that augment the flow of energy. They are like magnifying glasses,
enhancing that which lies behind them (our thoughts, feelings, intentions and
desires). This applies not only to desirable energy, however, but to all
energy, both positive and negative. Through conscious use of crystals as tools,
we can enhance anything we undertake. Quartz crystals have electromagnetic
properties, hence their use in a lot of electrical devices. The human energy
field is also electric (electromagnetic), and crystals can similarly enhance
human energies.

| | | | protection: The Third-Eye Or Brow ChakraThe Third-Eye Or Brow Chakra
This chakra, which is also called the third
eye, is located right between the eyebrows on the forehead. It is the centre
for clairvoyance, visions, and transcendence of time and space in thinking. It
radiates a clear, green light, and people who have begun to develop the ability
so see more than most people, have a shining ball located in the area of this chakra.
This ball protects, and draws energy into the brain.
