Most of the sex advice books written
during 1960s underlined the idea that the world could be saved by sex -
without, of course, enduring the messy and inconvenient complications of an
unwanted pregnancy. Many therapists of that era encouraged their neurotic and
mentally disturbed patients to 'find themselves' and become better balanced
individuals through positive experiences of sex. Sometimes, surrogate partners
would be provided for the purpose. We liked to believe then that much mental
illness as well, resulted from long-held repressions, and that these could be
released through sex.

| | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: Parapsychology and personal survival after deathSupernatural
phenomena are still being dismissed by the academic community. Influenced by
recent breaktroughs leading to an explanation of some mysteries, they have come
to the conclusion that science will explain all eventually.
Scientists,
who would not dare to trespass in fields outside their speciality for fear of
being torn apart by fellow academics, feel free to make all sorts of
pronouncements in the media on subjects in the domain of parapsychological
research, of which they have no knowledge whatsoever. Like in all other areas
of science, parapsychology has narrowed down its research to specialist
sectors, hardly anyone daring to voice an opinion on general issues.

| | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: For the Love of KarmaRelationship karma operates in all our
relationships and starts in each life with childhood family interactions.
Relationships are where we learn fundamental lessons in life through contact
with karmic connections and soulmates. Karmic connections or soul groups are
people we feel instantly familiar with. We have a sense of connection stemming
from a previous life or lives either in a positive or negative setting.

| | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: Tarot and the Conscious and Subconscious MindThe
symbolic images on the Tarot cards activate and speak to a deep intuitive part
of ourselves which the logical, conscious mind cannot understand or control.
This part of ourselves is known as the subconscious. This subconscious aspect
of being represents our inner self, those deep, highly personal feelings and
qualities which provide the foundation for our entire being and give us the
motivation behind our behavior, thoughts, emotions, etc. This is the realm of
instinct, gut reactions, innate knowing, and personal potential. It is the home
of our psyche.

| | | | | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: The New Psychiatry - Past Life TherapyPast Life Therapy is not for the weakminded or frail-hearted. It
leads a person into the depths of his own psychological makeup, but the return
trip is well worth the cost of the journey, and that cost is almost always a
deflation to the person's ego! After all, who wants to believe they have
committed acts that were harmful to others? Or wants to remember terrible
crimes in which they were a participant, or tortures in which they have been a
victim in one lifetime and perhaps returned to gain revenge in subsequent
lives?

REINCARNATION
REINCARNATION Advanced minds seem to take reincarnation for granted: Plato, Emerson, Edison, Shaw, Jung -- even Nietzsche and Schopenhauer. All life transmigrates -- indeed, not just life, but everything "returns." Many find the latter idea hard to take -- as though there must be not only no mice in the Afterworld, but no machines! Yet, obviously, if one thing evolves, then everything evolves. Molecules of steel and granite cling tenaciously, as do we, to permanence and the spider chooses her life, even as we choose ours, because spiderdom is the acme of her aspirations. Where the will exists, there return exists. Even if the evolution of life out of the inanimate does not indicate mind apart from brain, even if it demonstrates only the "accidental" fact that things must mutate "upward" or else dissolve downward into entropy, then "mind" or "purpose" is synonymous with or implicit in "accidence" itself. The one apodictic truth is that life and complexification have prevailed, whatever else has not, including the "content" of entropy. The universe is mind, as we've pointed out elsewhere. The purpose of mind is to know itself, and knowing can succeed only through particularization. One way to understand metempsychosis is to imagine our poor sublunary lives as pressings onto phonograph records, on the Akasha's etheric record. When the Atma particle, or Oversoul, incarnates, it shuffles off its generalized shell and starts to particularize. In so doing it may, under certain rare and privileged circumstances, find itself able to examine previous akashic recordings in which it formed similar particularizations. The Oversoul itself, however, is made up of all these countless recorded souls. With each experience it grows in metamorphic complexity. In the Oversoul the Whole is greater that its parts -- although when it separates individually the part is naturally greater than the Whole. The Buddhists hold that there is no "immutable soul." Therefore reincarnation is simply a way of expressing the rebirth of unenlightened mind. Rebirth is then merely like the same sand pouring into different vessels: bucket, goblet, urn, etc. If death is the abandonment of personal self, then the dividing walls between us crumble and memory has access to all former lives. Most people tend to remember only the former lives of the more interesting or arresting personalities: kings, queens, martyrs, monsters, etc. That's why there are so many former Napoleons and Cleopatras and so few kitchenmaids and village idiots. Finally, we must detach ourselves from the encapsulating Xtian belief in literal "Resurrection." We must understand that the "raising of the dead" is a metaphorical version, not of reincarnation, but of renewal within life. To be reborn of the flesh, of fire, of water and the spirit -- these are its tetramorphic aspects, to be sure, but resurrection, reincarnation and being "born again" are all symbols of the birth or rebirth of the spirit within the "dead" soul of materialistic greed. Rebirth begins before physical death and proceeds post-mortem into actual reincarnation. Reincarnation per se, however, is not acceptable to orthodox Xtianity in the slightest because it neutralizes Salvation.

| | | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: The Law Of KarmaKarma means not
only action, but also the result of an action. The consequence of an action is
really not a separate thing. It is a part of the action, and cannot be divided
from it. Breathing, thinking, talking, seeing, hearing, eating, etc., are
Karmas. Thinking is mental Karma. Karma is the sum total of our acts both in
the present life and in the preceding births.
Any deed, any
thought that causes an effect, is called a Karma. The Law of Karma means the
law of causation. Wherever there is a cause, there an effect must be produced.
A seed is a cause for the tree which is the effect. The tree produces seeds and
becomes the cause for the seeds.

All About Hinduism by Sri Swami Sivananda

Yantra?Sacred Geometry: YANTRAS - What is a Yantra?
All ancient
cultures had sacred geometric designs representative of their Gods, which had a
mantra (or sacred sound vibration) that corresponded to it. The Indians,
Egyptians, Jews, Chinese, and Mayans all had systems of "planetary
yantras" used to combat malefic influences. Yantra is the ultimate
"symbology". In the Vedic culture we find much power and energy said
to be held within sacred geometric symbols. They are to be found throughout
sacred scriptures, carved in stone, hidden within paintings and in temples.

Holistic Health
Dictionary I on HYPNOSIS, HYPNOTHERAPY
HYPNOSIS/HYPNOTHERAPY A state in which the practitioner has accessed the subconscious mind in order to address the condition that influences a particular activity or attitude. It may be regarded as a trance-like state, which is artificially produced. This state allows the subject to bypass the limitations of dealing with and healing anything which has been suppressed, repressed, and in many situations, unresolved elements from previous lives (past life recall). The subject is susceptible to suggestions by the practitioner, to help the subject heal, even the most traumatic of conditions.

Precipitation
Precipitation A process essentially founded in the formation of a visual image of some object in the mind, and the transferring of that image in visible form to some receptacle, such as paper. Usually used in theosophical history in reference to the precipitation of writing in messages from the Masters. The messages were transmitted by will power as mental pictures to a chela at a distance; and the chela receiving these telepathic impacts or mental images, understood them in whole or in part, according to his skill, and then and there, either himself wrote down the message thus received for transmission to the addressee, or if a chela of advanced degree, materialized them into visible writing. Usually the messages thus mentally received were written down by the chela, and often in a handwriting closely similar to that of the Master, and then the message was transferred through the mail or otherwise to the addressee. A mental image is a reality, and in materializing it the operator merely copies natural processes, since everything in the physical world is a materialization of something in the inner worlds working through the astral world into the physical. It is done by the use of psychic or psychophysiological faculties which have to be acquired by training, for even in the cases of those born with these powers, they exist because of training in previous lives. Some spiritistic mediums instinctively possess the power of precipitation, but use it ignorant of its causes and rationale, and hence without conscious control. Were the adept or mahatma himself to employ precipitation for the conveying of intelligence to others, something which is very rarely done, the precipitation would be achieved by the will of the adept gathering astral and ethereal substance from the surrounding atmosphere by the power of his will and condensing it onto the paper.
