Enlightenment Dictionary on Prophecy of future enlightenment
Prophecy of future enlightenment (Skt.: vyakarana; Pali.: veyźakarana; Jpn.: juki or kibetsu or wagarana) A Buddha's prediction that a disciple (or disciples) will attain enlightenment in the future. One of the twelve divisions of the teachings, vyakarana is rendered as the prophecy of future enlightenment and indicates the part of a sutra in which Shakyamuni Buddha pronounces that a practitioner will attain Buddhahood in a future existence. Such prophecies are common in Mahayana sutras. The Lotus Sutra contains a number of passages in which the Buddha predicts enlightenment for his disciples and foretells what their titles as future Buddhas will be as well as the names of their respective kalpas (eras) and Buddha lands. In the "Simile and Parable" (third) chapter of the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha predicts the enlightenment of Shariputra, and in the "Bestowal of Prophecy" (sixth) chapter, Shakyamuni predicts enlightenment for the four great voice-hearers, Mahakashyapa, Subhuti, Katyayana, and Maudgalyayana. In the "Five Hundred Disciples" (eighth) and the "Prophecies" (ninth) chapters, Shakyamuni predicts enlightenment for other individual disciples as well as for groups of disciples, thousands in all. According to the Jataka, stories of the Buddha's previous lives, in a past existence Shakyamuni himself received a prophecy of enlightenment from the Buddha Burning Torch (Skt Dipamkara).

 | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: Indigo and Crystal ChildrenThe terms, "Indigo" and
"Crystal" were given to two generations of children, because they
most accurately describe their aura colors and energy patterns. Indigo Children
have a lot of indigo blue in their auras. This is the color of the "third
eye chakra," which is an energy center inside the head located between the
two eyebrows. This chakra regulates clairvoyance, or the ability to see energy,
visions, and spirits.
Many of the
Indigo Children are clairvoyant The Crystal Children have opalescent auras,
with beautiful multi-colors in pastel hues. This generation also shows a
fascination for crystals and rocks, as you'll read in this book.

Celtic
Marriage
This
article is not just for those interested in the traditions of Celtic Marriage,
it is also a look into the complex body of law that governed the ancient Celts.
For
the ancient Celts, marriage was a very different thing than what we conceive of
as "marriage" today. For them, marriage or handfasting as some know
it was a form of contract that had several purposes. These included the
protection of property rights, the care of progeny (children), and the rights
of the individuals involved in the relationships themselves.

Hinduism Dictionary on Naraka
Naraka: (Sanskrit) Abode of darkness. Literally, "pertaining to man." The lower worlds. Equivalent to the Western term hell, a gross region of the Antarloka. Naraka is a congested, distressful area where demonic beings and young souls may sojourn until they resolve the darksome karmas they have created. Here beings suffer the consequences of their own misdeeds in previous lives. Naraka is understood as having seven regions, called tala, corresponding to the states of consciousness of the seven lower chakras as follows: 1) Put, "childless" - atala chakra, "wheel of the bottomless region." Fear and lust (located in the hips). 2) Avichi, "joyless" - vitala chakra: "wheel of negative region." Center of anger (thighs). 3) Samhata, "abandoned" - sutala chakra: "Great depth." Region of jealousy (knees). 4) Tamisra, "darkness" - talatala chakra: "wheel of the lower region." Realm of confused thinking (calves). 5) Rijisha, "expelled" - rasatala chakra: "wheel of subterranean region." Selfishness (ankles). 6) Kudmala, "leprous" - mahatala chakra: "wheel of the great lower region." Region of consciencelessness (feet). The intensity of "hell" begins at this deep level. 7) Kakola, "black poison" - patala chakra, "wheel of the fallen or sinful level." Region of malice (soles of the feet). The seven-fold hellish region in its entirety is also called patala, "fallen region." Scriptures offer other lists of hells, numbering 7 or 21. They are described as places of torment, pain, darkness, confusion and disease, but none are places where souls reside forever. Hinduism has no eternal hell. See: hell, loka, purgatory (also, individual tala entries).

 | | | Previous Lives Dictionary: Twp people linked
through past livesFor
many years, I was one of the all-time great skeptics of the phenomenon known as
"Soul Mates." I knew of many couples who were self-proclaimed soul
mates who dissolved their relationship after a few years, and the reasons given
seemed shallow to me at best. I've studied several definitions, and my
understanding of soul mates is that these are two people who have been linked
through past lives, and their essential nature is such that they compliment
each other.
