* Alternative Health Dictionary on Creative visualization

creative visualization: Subject of the bestseller of the same name, written by Shakti Gawain in 1978.

In creative visualization, one clearly imagines whatever one wants to manifest (see manifesting); then one gives the idea, image, or feeling positive energy, by focusing on it regularly, until it becomes reality. Creative visualization's theory posits a spiritual source: a supply of infinite energy, love, and wisdom discoverable in the inner beings of humans.

Expressions for methods identical or similar to creative visualization include: active imagination, creative imaging, directed day-dream, directed waking dream, dynamic imaging, guided fantasy, guided imagery, guided visualization, imagery, imaginal medicine, imaging, initiated symbol projection, inner guide meditation, led meditation, magickal visualization, mental imagery, pathworking, Positive Imaging, positive thinking, positive visualization, visualization, visualization therapy, waking dream therapy, and willed imagination.

For example, willed imagination, also called creative visualization, is the magickal art of imagining the result one desires of one's magick (the word for Wiccan magic) in order to achieve that result.

* MysticismMagick Dictionaryon IMITATIVE MAGIC

IMITATIVE MAGIC Or "Image Magic". The use of images and imitations of real things in order to affect them. Any ritual can enact symbolically what is desred to happen in real life. It has both positive and negative sides. A phobia can be cured by transferring it to an animal which can then be destroyed (in the imagination). Or one can conjure the image of a hated person and use it to wreak vengeance on that person. Visualization is effectively used in curing cancer.

* Massage Bodywork Dictionary on TAIKYO SHIATSU

TAIKYO SHIATSU
Taikyo shiatsu is a style using ancient Taoist yin/yang and taijiquan principles combined with the gentle stretching of Zen shiatsu. From the Eastern perspective, this shiatsu focuses on stretching and palming the meridians, opening channels to induce flow of stagnated energies, and supplying circulation (oxygenated blood) to the organs.

The application of the Taoist principles enables the therapist to generate and utilize optimum energy to perform the shiatsu efficiently. From the Western perspective, stretching increases bone, sinews, and muscle flexibility, and enhances mobility.

A unique “wave” technique - visualizing an ocean wave forming (potential), reaching the highest crest, falling (kinetic), and expanding (distribution) the energy - is used in this technique. The following Taikyo essentials achieve optimum shiatsu efficiency and transmission as well as distribution of energy. Spirit: state of being; intent: volition or plan of action; calm: state of mental stillness to perceive; posture: proper body positioning for optimum operational efficiency; presence: the sum of the previous above essentials; intuition: ability to perceive; breathing: qigong mode; and simplicity: unpretentiousness.

“Reeling the silk” is a technique that enables manipulation by gripping with a wrist motion, producing pressure without using the fingers. This technique enables efficient massaging of the “18 joints” of the body. Qigong breathing from the Hara, or dantian, is one of the important keys to generate efficient energy output.

Taikyo shiatsu emphasizes philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, essentials, breathing, taijiquan postural efficiency, and the above mentioned techniques.

* Hindu - Hinduism Dictionary on Asana

asana: (Sanskrit) "Seat; posture." In hatha yoga, asana refers to any of numerous poses prescribed to balance and tune up the subtle energies of mind and body for meditation and to promote health and longevity. Examples are the shoulder-stand (sarvangasana,"whole body pose") and the lotus pose (padmasana). Each asana possesses unique benefits, affecting the varied inner bodies and releasing energies in different parts of the nervous system.

While the physical science of hatha yoga can dramatically influence health and general well-being, it is primarily a preparation for the deeper yogas and meditations. Sivaya Subramuniyaswami has provided a system of 27 asanas to tune the nervous system for meditation and contemplation and to mitigate the burdensome karmas, known by the modern term "stress," built up through the interaction with other people. His 27 asanas are performed in a meditative sequence, not unlike a serene dance, accompanied by certain visualizations and pranayamas.

* Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Phoenix

Phoenix
In Greek mythology, the Phoenix was a bird with great beauty, splendor and longevity. The legend tells us that the Phoenix lived for five hundred years and then retreated to make a nest where she would die. She made a nest of aromatic twigs that would burn from the heat of its own body. The Phoenix is said to rise from its own ashes. It comes alive though the transforming power of fire and it lives again in full splendor. In the Middle Ages, the Phoenix was often used as a symbol for Christ, as he resurrected. This legendary bird is an archetypal dream symbol that brings us positive and powerful images of rebirth. If you dream of the Phoenix, it is most likely that you are receiving message from the unconscious that are telling you that new life and new beginnings are always possible. This bird is a reminder that we have internal powers of regeneration and that we have the power to change things for the better. As you are interpreting this dream, try to visualize a great bird rising up from fire and ash. It is a powerful image, whether produced by a dream or visualization.

* Holistic Health Dictionary I on GUIDED IMAGERY

GUIDED IMAGERY
Also known as Guided Meditation or Guided Visualization. This experience is achieved by listening to the narration given by a practitioner guiding the visualization or “journey,” or by listening to an audiocassette tape or CD. In this way one follows specific suggestions or images directed towards a desired outcome.

The experience allows one to travel within the mind to areas of beauty and peace, and further allows the individual to release any stress and tension. Even though it is a mental process on the conscious thinking level of the mind, it can enable one to experience more subtle states or perception. It is a therapeutic process, by which the individual may enhance the innate healing potential within.

The power of the imagination evokes a positive mind/body response, and can over-ride any negative influences that may be prevalent. The healing powers of imagery can affect one physically, mentally and emotionally and tap into a rich reservoir of inner resources. This technique is also being used in sports and business as well as in many areas of healthcare.

* Dream Interpretation Dictionary - Waterfall

Waterfall
Water generally represents the unconscious and the emotions. A waterfall is a positive dream symbol that suggests a cleansing of negative emotions or psychological issues. Just a simple visualization or a daydream of standing in a waterfall makes a person feel energized and refreshed. If the waterfall in your dream is overwhelming or too powerful for you to enjoy, it may represent emotional energy and unconscious drives that are very difficult to effectively cope with on the conscious level.

Middle Pillar technique (Middle Pillar exercise, Middle Pillar meditation, Middle Pillar practice): Mental healing system expounded by Francis Israel Regardie, a chiropractor, Reichian Therapist, and writer born in 1907 in London.

Its principle is that an omnipresent spiritual force (force of life) constitutes one's higher self and is one's link with Godhead. Middle Pillar theory posits telepathy. * AlternativeHealthDictionary II on Wu Breathing

Wu Breathing
Wu is a Chinese breathing technique. Lit down in a relaxed position with your head on a little pillow and your arms resting at your sides, your feet a little more than hip-width apart. Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth, just behind where your front teeth meet the gums, and begin to breathe naturally through your nose.

Imagine the breath coming through your nose to the top of your head and then down to the centre of your belly. Continue breathing and visualizing in this manner 20-30 minutes, concentrating on the breath coming in through your head. Repeat morning and at night.

* Dream Interpretation - Pain

Pain
Physical
Pain in dreams is an interesting phenomenon. Sometimes, a peculiar sleeping position becomes the trigger event for a painful dream. It's the body's way of saying, "Hey stupid, roll over." However, the ability of the brain to produce physical stimuli that match the dream event is an amazing thing. It makes dreams that are emotionally realistic even more real.

Often, the pain sensation is related to a particular facet of body awareness or relationship disparity. Nowhere is this more apparent than in dreams of injury, infection, and amputation where physical sensations accompany visual images. Try to recall where the pain was centered, and relate that body part to aspects of your life that are applicable.

Was the pain caused by you, another person, or an object? Was it caused purposefully, or by accident?

Was the pain acute or merely a nuisance?

Psychological
In dreams, we are often faced with dilemmas that create a lot of anxiety for the dreamer. Some of the things we do not know directly in our self-awareness are unknown because the trauma of unmediated awareness would be devastating. If dreams cause psychological pain, it should be treated much the same way as physical pain.

Does it hurt enough to get help, or just a little bit when precipitated by peculiar actions?

How often does it occur, and is it staying the same or getting worse?

Does it interfere with daily routines because the lingering pain is so troubling?

Do you feel you have enough knowledge and resources to treat the pain yourself, or does it feel as if the pain has deep roots in your life?

Depending on how you answer these questions, you may wish to seek professional help dealing with the psychological pain of dream events.
