The concern about lead's role in mental retardation in children has brought about widespread reduction in its use (lead exposure has been linked to schizophrenia). Paint containing lead has been withdrawn from sale in industralised countries, though many older houses may still contain substantial lead in their old paint: it is generally recommended that old paint should not be stripped by san ...

Many people also derive amusement from the practice of hanging a spoon from one's nose which can be accomplished by breathing on the curved area and then carefully placing it on the tip of your nose. This would however be considered poor table manners.

| | | | | poor metal: Encyclopedia II - Ceramic - Properties of ceramics
Ceramic - Mechanical properties.
Ceramic materials are usually ionic or covalently-bonded materials, and can be crystalline or amorphous. A material held together by either type of bond will tend to fracture before any plastic deformation takes place, which results in poor toughness in these materials. Additionally, because these materials tend to be porous, the pores and other microscopic imperfections act as stress concentrators, decreasing the toughness further, and reducing the tensile strength. These combine to give catastrophic failures, as opposed to the ...

| | | | poor metal: Encyclopedia II - Wave soldering - FluxingThe PCB will then enter the fluxing zone, which applies flux to the underside of the board. Two types of fluxers are used: the spray fluxer and foam fluxer.
Wave soldering - Spray fluxer.
The spray fluxer consists of a robotic arm which travels from side to side while spraying a fine mist of flux onto the bottom side of the board. Some systems will then use compressed air to remove excess flux or to completely remove flux from some areas.

| | | | | poor metal: Encyclopedia II - History of the world - Bronze and Iron AgesAgricultural settlements had until this time been almost completely dependent on stone tools. In Eurasia, copper and bronze tools, decorations, and weapons began to become commonplace around 3000 BCE. After bronze, the Eastern Mediterranean region, Middle East and China saw the introduction of iron tools and weapons. The Americas may not have had metal tools until the Chavin horizon in 900 BCE. We also know that the Moche had metal armor, knives and tableware. Even the metal-poor Inca had metal-tipped plows, at least after the conquest of Ch ...

They are used for drilling in sheet metal up to the thickness of one of the steps. Due to their design, a single bit can be used for drilling a wide range of hole sizes. Some bits come to a point and are thus self-starting. The larger-size bits have blunt tips and are used for hole enlarging. They are now available in fractional inch and metric sizes.
An additional use of step bits is deburring holes left by other bits, as the sh ...

Cayetano was raised by his father in Kalihi, an ethnic Filipino neighborhood west of Downtown Honolulu. He would grow up as a latchkey child. In Kalihi, he attended Wallace Rider Farrington High School, a public school aptly known locally as "Home of the Governors" as its buildings were named after several early Hawaii statesmen. The school was only a few blocks from his home. Cayetano received poor grades throughout his years at Farrington and was often disciplined by his teachers and counselors. He b ...

| | | | poor metal: Encyclopedia II - Roman Britain - The end of Roman ruleThe traditional view of historians, informed by the work of Michael Rostovtzeff, was of a widespread economic decline at this time. However, consistent archaeological evidence has told another story, and the accepted view is undergoing re-evaluation. The destruction of many sites is now believed to be much later than had formerly been thought. Many buildings changed use, but were not destroyed. There were growing barbarian attacks, but focused on vulnerable rural settlements rather than the towns. Some villas such as Great Casterton in Rutla ...

| | | | poor metal: Encyclopedia II - Ore genesis - IronIron ores are overwhelmingly derived from ancient sediments known as banded iron formations (BIFs). These sediments are composed of iron oxide minerals deposited on the sea floor. Particular environmental conditions are needed to transport enough iron in sea water to form these deposits, such as acidic and oxygen-poor atmospheres within the Proterozoic Era.
Often, more recent weathering during the Tertiary or Eocene is required to convert the usual magnetite minerals into more easily processed hematite. Some iron deposits withi ...

| | | | | poor metal: Encyclopedia II - Music history of the United States 1980s to the present - 1990sThe result of hair metal's decline was the grunge explosion in the early 1990s. By 1992 (1992 in music), hair metal bands were massively unpopular as grunge groups like Nirvana (Nevermind), Pearl Jam (Ten) and Alice in Chains (Dirt) dominated the charts. Their success lasted only a few years, however, as bands found it difficult to maintain their "alternative" sound after going mainstream.
In addition, former N.W.A. member Dr. Dre (The Chronic) brought gangsta rap to pop audiences. By the mid-90s, alternati ...

Megadeth - The Early Years.
Shortly after lead guitarist Dave Mustaine was fired from Metallica due to alcohol problems and personality conflicts, Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson formed Megadeth. As Mustaine himself says, "I could only focus on one thing [after being kicked out of Metallica]: I wanted blood... theirs." After searching for a vocalist and not finding what he wanted, Mustaine became the band's singer and primary lyricist as well as the main songwriter and rhythm guitarist. The band soon added ja ...
