One of the most fundamental findings was the discovery of large numbers of galaxies with high redshift values.
As the universe expands, more distant objects recede from the Earth faster, in what is called the Hubble Flow. The light from very distant galaxies is significantly affected by doppler shifting, which reddens the radiation that we receive from them. While qu ...

| | | | Planetary Ascension: Encyclopedia II - Coma Berenices - Notable deep sky objectsAlthough Coma Berenices is not a large constellation, it contains eight Messier objects. The constellation is quite rich in galaxies, containing the northern part of the Virgo cluster. There are also several globular clusters to be seen. These objects can be seen with minimal obscuration from dust because the constellation is not in the direction of the galactic plane. However, because of this fact, there are few open clusters (except for the Coma Berenices Cluster, which dominates the northern part of the constellation), diffuse nebulae, or planetary nebulae.

| | | | Planetary Ascension: Encyclopedia II - Biblical Magi - Contemporary skepticismWhile a well known and popular story and a feature of Christmas carols and crèches, the story of the magi visiting Jesus has attracted some skepticism.
Some scholars, such as Robert H. Gundry, speculates that the author of Matthew transformed the shepherds that appear in Luke into the magi.
Catholic Biblical scholar Raymond E. Brown in The Birth of the Messiah lists six reasons he does not believe the Biblical account:
A star behaving as the Star of Bethlehem might have been the most notable a ...

| | | | Planetary Ascension: Encyclopedia II - Hipparchus astronomer - Babylonian sourcesMany of the works of Greek scientists - mathematicians, astronomers, geographers - have been preserved up to the present time, or some aspects of their work and thought are still known through later references. However, achievements in these fields by Middle Eastern civilizations, notably those in Babylonia, had been forgotten. After the discovery of the archaeological sites in the 19th century, many writings on clay tablets have been found, some of them related to astronomy. Most known astronomical tablets have been described by A. Sachs, and later published by Otto Neugebauer in "Astrono ...

Hipparchus astronomer - Motion of the Moon.
Hipparchus also studied the motion of the Moon and confirmed the accurate values for some periods of its motion that Chaldean astronomers had obtained before him.
