Phenomena: Encyclopedia II - Electronic voice phenomena - Theories

According to the American Association - Electronic Voice Phenomena (or AA-EVP), a possible explanation for EVP is contained in the Survival Hypothesis, which states, "...we are nonphysical entities who are able to exist in the physical aspect of reality because of our physical body, but that when our physical body dies, we as Self, change our point of view to nonphysical reality. In effect, we exist before and after our current lifetime. The working hypothesis supported by AA-EVP is that these messages are, indeed, nonphysical in orig ...

Phenomena: Spirit World and Electronic Voice Phenomena

Electronic Voice Phenomena

Juergenson was a film producer in Sweden who, in 1959 while making a documentary, had decided to tape bird songs. As he began recording, little did he realize that what was to follow would change the course of not only his earthly life but of that he would lead in the world beyond after his death. When he played the tape back he was startled to hear, in among the tweeting and chirping, his mother's voice say in German, "Friedrich, you are being watched. Friedel, my little Friedel, can you hear me?"

Phenomena: Encyclopedia II - Electronic voice phenomena - History

Interest in EVP apparently began in the 1920s. In a Scientific American interview, Thomas Edison was quizzed on his views regarding contacting the dead. Edison (who seems to have held no strong religious belief), opined that no one knows if "our personalities pass on to another existence or sphere" but he also speculated that "it is possible to construct an apparatus which will be so delicate that if there are personalities in another existence or sphere who wish to get in touch with us in this existence or sphere, this apparatus will ...

Phenomena: Encyclopedia - Charles Fort

Charles Hoy Fort (August 6, 1874 - May 3, 1932) was an American writer and researcher into anomalous phenomena. (According to some sources he was born on August 9.) Fort is best known for his books, in which he compiled — with his characteristic wry, tongue in cheek sense of humor — many accounts of odd, inexplicable or strange events, usually taken from newspapers or scientific journals. Fort's books sold well, and remain in print. The term Forteana is sometimes used to describe various anomalous phenomena.Including:

Phenomena: Encyclopedia - Crop circle

This page is about the phenomena of crop circles. For information about the music band, please see Crop Circles. Crop circles are areas of cereal or similar crops that have been systematically flattened to form various geometric patterns. The phenomenon itself only entered the public imagination in its current form after the notable appearances in England in the late 1970s. People who study crop circle phenomena sometimes humorously call themselves "cerealogists", after the usually known name for the pseudoscience that studies crop circles: cereology. ...

Phenomena: Encyclopedia II - Yahoo! trolling phenomena - Overview

Phenomena: Encyclopedia II - Critical phenomena - Divergences at the critical point

The correlation length diverges at the critical point: as , . This divergence poses no physical problem. Other physical observables diverge at this point, leading to some confusion at the beginning. The most important is susceptibility. Let us apply a very small magnetic field to the system in the critical point. A very small magnetic field is not able to magnetize a large coherent cluster, but with these fractal clusters the picture changes. It affects easily the smallest size clusters, since they have a nearly paramagnetic behaviour ...

Phenomena: Encyclopedia II - Electronic voice phenomena - Recording EVP

The quality, volume and durations of recordings are said to be increased by using a sound source placed within audible distance of the microphone during recording. Typically this would be a radio tuned to between stations so only white noise is audible; the theory being that this provides an acoustic basis for the voices to be constructed from, similar to vocoder technology. An alternative explanation is that the white noise provides random sounds that may be interpreted as voices by people who expect or want to hear voices. This expl ...
