x_Personal Growth: The Fine Art of Staying in Love

A happy relationship is a universal ideal. Yet, few among us can claim to have perfect relationships. Worldwide, divorce rates are going up. Even most couples who do stay together for a considerable length of time allow their relationship to turn mechanical - there is little room for romance, intimacy or joy. Such couples end up transforming a beautiful partnership into a mere social institution, no more than a familial commitment empty of true love.

x_Personal Growth: Why Small Things Can Shatter Happiness

Who doesn't want to be happy? We all desire happiness. We pursue pleasures systematically through life - it comes as naturally to us as the sunflower turns to the sun. But, pleasure once obtained does not last; so once again, the search begins. Moreover, pleasure is ephemeral; it eludes the seeker at the final moment. One may work very hard and get all that the world considers necessary for a happy life, yet none of these things can make us really happy.

x_Personal Growth: Nature of the Human Spirit - Love

Our nature is to give and receive love. All other requirements are not essential to the basic experience of giving and receiving love. From this basic requirement or shall we say experience, come different expressions of love. During our life experience we learn through various methods and teachers how to express love in wide and varied ways. This is where interpretation and distortion creeps in.

x_Personal Growth: Spiritual Counsel For Rio Plus Ten

Spirituality and sustainability go hand in hand. Living in a sustainable manner helps in spiritual growth. This week, representatives of more than a hundred countries are congregating in Johannesburg, South Africa, to discuss and perhaps come to an agreement on how to create sustainable living on Planet Earth.

However, none of the information handouts made available so far have given any indication that there will be discussions on the subject of spirituality and its effects on sustainability.

x_Personal Growth: When the Young Keep the Faith

Have we, as a generation, succumbed to negative thinking? If we have, maybe this explains why more young people today are seeking solace in spirituality despite claims that the younger generation is moving away from traditions and religion.

Modern concepts and changing lifestyles have ensured that spirituality for the young is not confined to mere idol worship - it is more about seeking deeper truths and attaining self-knowledge.

x_Personal Growth: The History Application of Tai

Tai Chi Chuan was derived from Taoism. The most important practice of Taoism was concerned with tranquility of mind and improvement of temperament. At the end of the Sung Dynasty a Taoist by the name of Cheung San Fung, in order to find one suitable martial art for the Taoist, often observed the habits of long- lived animals such as turtles and cranes. After many years of study, he, at last, created Tai Chi Chuan.

x_Personal Growth: On Ownership

In today's modern, consumer driven society, we are encouraged and persuaded constantly to 'want' and to 'own' things. We want more and more and more. In fact the word 'ownership' has practically become synonymous with material possession. The utter irony is that the things which we try to own are the vary things which it is not possible for us to own at all. As far as material possessions are concerned, we are merely custodians, guardians of whatever passes into our sphere of control. This guardianship is temporal and temporary. Our duty is to care for it, look after it as best we can whilst we have the responsibility for it.

x_Personal Growth: Relating To Others: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

The insights we attain come through the heart. Perhaps the intellect can be a vehicle for enlightenment, but for me and millions of others, the pathway through the heart is the most healing and beautiful way to learn and grow. Relationships with friends and family are filled with learning opportunities. They come in many forms, and could be intellectually discussed for many hours, though there is only one true lesson to learn. We learn to give service unselfishly to our partners or friends and others who may knock on our doors.

x_Personal Growth: A Perfect Marriage

Times of great upheaval in our lives are very powerful opportunities for new growth. I feel a bit like I'm bungee jumping and in free fall. All that was has been yanked out from under me, and as I surrender in each moment, I am falling, falling. It is both unnerving and exhilarating at the same time, for I know that things happen for the best, one way or another, and this knowing is literally my "lifeline."

x_Personal Growth: The Power of your Thoughts

Our past thoughts have created our current reality, and we are each creating our futures with the thoughts we think right now, in the present moment. Michael Curley expands upon this philosophy and tell us more about the power of our thoughts to bring about change in our own lives and on a global, even cosmic level.

x_Personal Growth: Maximize Your Sense of Well-being On All Levels

"Health" means more than physical ease; it is also ease of mind, heart and soul, and we take that "health" at mental, emotional and spiritual levels with us when we leave our physical bodies behind. Of course, there are no hard lines between any aspects of our beings. What we think affects our bodies, what we do physically affects how we feel emotionally; it is all inter-related

x_Personal Growth: Seeing Work as a Spiritual Practice

Susan, a telephone service representative for a large health insurance company, once taught us an extremely important lesson about "work as a spiritual practice."

She was known as one of the best at her job. Whenever she received a call from an angry person complaining that a huge bill had not yet been paid, she silently kept a spiritual mantra going in her head as she listened to the caller. It helped her maintain a peaceful mind and reminded her that the caller was a spiritual being in his or her own right. She kept connecting with the caller, heart to heart, in every word she said and patiently demonstrated her accurate listening. Soon, angry callers became calm, and began to trust that she would really do her best to help them.

Spiritual Growth: Return to Godhead

Spiritual development is a systematic, methodic process that needs to be learnt and practised like any other skill. But very few understand spiritual growth as being systematic or methodic.

Most people randomly pick up books and practices without understanding their significance and place in the overall process. Consequently they remain where they are - or they could end up harming themselves.

x_Personal Growth: Healing thru Emotional Clearing

In our New Age and self-help literature, another important realization about feelings has been emerging strongly over the last six or eight years. More and more, we hear of the connection between suppressed feelings and chronic poor health. Healing professionals are venturing the idea that in order to resolve health issues, we must resolve the emotional issues behind them. The awareness is growing that the unreleased and trapped negative emotional energy keeps building inside and eventually manifests in the physical.

In this article, John Ruskan describes how he originated his system for releasing feelings, how the system works, and what benefits may be realized.

x_Personal Growth: Start Early, Drive Slow, Arrive Safely

Fred Schwettman, former president of the circuit technology division of Hewlett Packard, once told us:

We had a discussion one time about values and beliefs in our staff meeting. I think one of the most important things we can do is to articulate what our personal purpose is - really trying to understand what we're doing to grow, and to work on that. An example could be for me to know God or to find love associated with God and to practise that in whatever I do.

x_Personal Growth: Will Your "Real Conscience" Please Stand Up?

Our conscience is our true guide to what is wise, good and beneficial to ourselves and the larger whole. It provides the strength of character to sincerely and energetically promote various forms of wealth in our work: our well-being as an employee, our ability to capably serve our customers, our success in creating prosperity, and our desire to improve the health of our society.

As Confucious said: Virtue is the root; wealth is the result. The Great Learning.

x_Personal Growth: Becoming A Spiritual-Based Leader

Twenty-five union leaders showed up one morning for a surprise visit to the company president. Security officers called the president for instructions. "Send them up to my office," he said - and told his assistant to "prepare tea and coffee for 25." The leaders didn't trust the president to handle an important HR issue fairly. They stood and shouted what they were unhappy about.

He spoke calmly and respectfully, inviting them to sit and enjoy their drink while they talked. He reassured them that he'd quit before compromising his principles for fair and just hearings - and would reach a judgment based purely on merit, without giving in to favouritism and pressure.

x_Personal Growth: Encyclopedia II - Juggling - The growth of juggling as a hobby 1947 - present

Until the early 1950s, juggling was only practiced by performers. Since then more and more people have begun juggling as a hobby. The International Jugglers' Association began as a club for performing jugglers but soon had non-performers joined up and started attending the annual conventions. As more amateurs around the world began to juggle as a hobby sport or pastime, they started meeting together regularly to practice and socialise in local groups. These groups formed into juggling clubs, and currently there are ...
