The Global Oneness Commitment

Co-creating a happy world

The Global Oneness Commitment is an eight-year project with the goal of uniting people around the globe to mutual actions in order to not only save what we have, but to transform the planet thru an increase in spiritual awareness – a new consciousness creating a joyful home for all its inhabitants and sincere respect for all forms of life.
The project is synchronised with the twin Venus Transits of 2004 and 2012. It starts with the first Venus transit of June 8th 2004 and ends with the second Transit June 6th 2012. The eight-year project is initiated by the Global Oneness Foundation based in Stockholm, Sweden, in association with the Times Foundation based in Delhi, India.

The world is not in need of a new religion or a new philosophy but in need of spiritual rejuvenation. All knowledge and wisdom needed to bring the world into a new era of inner and outer prosperity is already here and have been since ancient times. Lets face the fact that we are all dependent on each other and that we all has an individual responsibility for the well being of all life on the planet. We are all one and if one part of humanity is suffering – the whole humanity will be reached by its consequences. This is not anything new. It has been known in ancient spiritual traditions all over our planet. By entering this well of wisdom we will see that we have always had much more uniting us than dividing us. The main objectives are to:

  • Co-create a vision of oneness, encouraging individuals, networks and organizations in their work for a happy world.
  • Support the preservation and restoration of ancient spiritual wisdoms and sciences residing in all cultures around the world.
  • Support all sorts of initiatives that unite people in mutual actions and projects aiming at creating global oneness.

The twin Venus Transits

The launching point of the eight year campaign will be at the Venus Transit June 8th 2004 and will be ending at the second Venus Transit June 6th 2012.

The planet Venus is rich in archetypal symbolism in cultures around the world. It is often known as the Morning Star, the Bringer of Light. It is related to love, human unity, beauty, and oneness. On June 8, 2004, the path of Venus directly crosses over the disc of the Sun, an eclipse lasting for the space of seven hours.

The ancient Mayans of Central America developed a calendar system that emphasis the spiritual significance of the twin pair of Venus Transits that occur June 8th 2004 and June 6th 2012.

Whether we believe there is something to this Prophecy of the Mayans or not, the fact that millions of people around the Globe will stand united in the intent of Oneness will by itself create a focus for a better future. This significant astronomical event marks the start of the eight-year campaign for Oneness ending at the second Venus Transit June 6th 2012.

At Global Oneness Community all upcoming events can be posted informing people of local events. The initiators

The eight-year project is initiated by the Global Oneness Foundation based in Stockholm, Sweden, in association with the Times Foundation and Times of India (the world’s biggest English speaking daily newspaper), based in Delhi, India.

We believe that India, with her vast abundance of ancient wisdom, has a very special responsibility for the preservation and restoration of ancient wisdoms. Not only those originating in India but for all cultures all around the globe. India is the natural leader as nowhere else can such multiplicity of ancient traditions, faiths and different belief system be found than in India. India has therefore a duty that we know she will undertake will humbleness.

The Global Oneness Commitment: Protect The Fabric Of Daily Life

Citizens everywhere today are demanding that their leaders make choices to advance the cause of peace. What is disturbing is the grotesque imbalance between our powers of destruction and our failing ethical capacity for empathy and self-restraint.

Genuine leadership must be based on a solid commitment to protecting the precious fabric of daily life. The ordinary citizens of the world are raising their voice, insisting that all decisions - whether political, military or economic - be made with this human reality firmly in view.

The common cause of human happiness is the strongest basis for human solidarity. In a world of intimate interconnection, solidarity cannot be limited to just one group or nation. It must embrace all the people everywhere.

The Global Oneness Commitment: Peace Is Life, War Is Death

It was said of Prophet Mohammed that God wanted him to be an example of how to live peacefully among others like a simple man, to nurture a family, to work for a living and to accept equally the joys and sorrows of life.

But there are some who, while professing loyalty to Islam, are actually doing more harm than good. For instance, Osama bin Laden's brand of "Islamic jehad" is utterly un-Islamic and goes against all tenets of Islam. In Islam, taking an innocent life is equated to killing the whole of humanity.

The Global Oneness Commitment: Time to Rekindle Passion for Unity

In India, many civilisations have come together over the years, creating new patterns of universal oneness. Raja Ram Mohan Roy ushered in the age of new thought in 1828. He wrote: "All mankind is one great family of which numerous nations and tribes existing are only various branches".

All religions tell us that the divine is within us. The Gospel according to St Thomas says: "He who has heard and assimilated my word is as I". In Sanatana Dharma it is Tat Tvam Asi. To find divinity within oneself it is important to act with compassion towards all beings.

The Global Oneness Commitment: Explode Spiritual Bomb of Compassion

For Gandhi, non-violence meant an overflowing love for all humanity, a way of life that emanated from the very marrow of his being. But for many of his followers, non-violence was simply a political strategy, a tactic for winning India's independence from Britain. The more earnestly Gandhi pursued his religious beliefs, the deeper his love for humanity grew.

This love made it all the more impossible for him to ignore the political realities that shaped people's lives. At the same time, contact with these political realities strengthened his conviction that nothing is more essential than the love for humanity that religious faith can inspire. He walked the middle way.

The Global Oneness Commitment: Find the Oneness Beyond Duality

It is very easy to advise others. Only the one who suffers knows the extent of the pain. At the same time there is no difference between one person'spain and another"s, whether that person is rich or poor.

No philosophy, sermon or concept will help relieve that suffering immediately. It is useful, however, to remember that at the core of any pain-causing conflict there is duality. We are part of a cycle that contains both pain and pleasure, creating a split between mind and body, delaying the healing process.

Duality is all-pervasive; it is present in everything around us. Even that oft-quoted line from Shakespeare reflects this: "To be or not to be".

The Global Oneness Commitment: Politics is Lowest Form of Leela

In pre-Mandalised India of the seventies, Prof A L Basham, the author of The Wonder that was India, and I were colleagues at 'El Colegio de Mexico". He once observed that despite innumerable divisive factors of caste, creed and language, the fact that democracy was a functional reality in India, made India a living wonder. Today, I ask myself, are we truly a democratic country?

The Global Oneness Commitment: Mahatma's Talisman Can Exorcise Anger

It is a paradox that Gujarat, the state which gave India her greatest son, Mahatma Gandhi, should defile his memory and what he stood for with a terrible violence fuelled by communal frenzy, resulting in large scale death and destruction.

Those who react in anger to the recent violent incidents in Godhra, other parts of Gujarat and neighbouring states need to consider Gandhis "talisman". Will anger and revenge help erase the distress? Anger is a negative emotion; it can neither bring peace nor put an end to the cycle of violence.

The Global Oneness Commitment: Individual Will No Match for Mad Mobs

In the 60s, a communal riot shook a certain town. I was surprised, for it was a new settlement grown around a huge industry. The population was largely labourers and officials from all over India. There was no tradition of animosity between communities; they were united by a common existential necessity.

One winter evening, on a visit to the town, I asked my friends, "Where did so many violent people come from, all of a sudden?"

The Global Oneness Commitment: Let's Build A Temple To Tolerance

In the name of God we ask you, the blood-thirsty actors in the tragedy of India, to have done with it. You have had your day. And have played your hellish part to perfection.

The land is littered with too many corpses already. Columns of smoke from fires of hate choke the air. The sun hides its face from this shame. Stars have fled from our sky.

Venus Transit

The Venus Transit of June 8, 2004 is clearly the astronomical event of the year. But it may be much, much more than that. The Venus Transit has always preceded great breakthroughs in human consciousness and played a very significant role in the Mayan Calendar. It is also a turning point in the Vedic tradition. According to the Indian avatar of enlightenment, Sri Kalki Bhagavan, the Venus Transit of 2004 will be the actual starting point of the Golden Age, a process that will come to an conclusion at the next Venus Transit in 2012.

The Venus Transit is not an ordinary astronomical event. It is one that has not occurred since 1882 and that no person living has previously experienced. It is also one that is clearly visible and experiential in nature. You do not have to read charts to realize its significance. The planet Venus will pass across the disc of the sun for a period of about seven hours and serve as a symbol of the unification of the masculine and feminine that in the time ahead is about to take place. Millions will acknowledge and honor the possibility for humankind that is now emerging.
