New Age

A term coined by Alice Bailey in the first part of the 20th Century to decribe the age to follow the Piscean - The Age of Aquarius, beginning between Jan 1, 1981 and May 5 2012.

Also, the philosophical and/or religious systems arising form or believing in the coming of a new age.

New Age Movement

A loose organization of people, many of them "Yuppies," who espouse a variety of beliefs, primarily that the world has entered the Aquarian Age.

As a rule, they reject Judeo-Christian orthodoxy. Among them may be found environmentalists, ESP cultists, spiritists, Pagans, and others using magical rites. (See New Age)

One of the branches of the mind sciences; though related to Christian Science, New Thought usually maintains the reality of matter and is more liberal and pluralistic in its views. Teaches that the Christ is only a principle that was embodied in Jesus and other religious figures

Fish Symbol

The two crossed fish of Pisces was adopted early-on as a symbol for Christ and Christianity. Later the symbol was shortened to just one fish.

The Greek word for fish (ichthys) contains the first letters of the phrase "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior" in Greek

Once the Age of Aquarius began this symbol automatically became the symbol for the Devil or evil.

Pentecost

The word comes from the Greek which means fifty. It is a celebration on the fiftieth day after Passover. It was a culmination of the feast of weeks. In the book of Acts it says that on the day of Pentecost following the Passover upon which Jesus was executed, disciples of Jesus were gathered and they heard a great wind and spoke in tongues as tongues of fire that settled upon them. Christians interpet this as the reception of the Holy Ghost.

The New Age which begins (according to various calculations) between January 1, 1981 and May 5, 2012. Many New Agers believe the Aquarian Age will be characterized by a heightened degree of spiritual or cosmic consciousness.

Age

Astrology divides time into units called ages which correspond to the signs of the zodiac, each age lasting from 2000 to 2400 years. This progression outlines the evolution of the universe and mankind. We are now moving from the age of Pisces into the one associated with Aquarius.

Spiritual Abuse

The damage or mistreatment of someone seeking spiritual or religious help or guidance. This injury can occur when someone uses a spiritual position or office to exercise an improper and unhealthy domination or control over followers. Legalism can be a form of spiritual abuse.
