Mysticism Mysticism is usually defined in dictionaries and encyclopedias as a spiritual discipline used to make contact with the divine. While this definition is frequently correct, there have been many people who have had mystical experiences without following a special discipline. Conversely, many people have followed a set of spiritual practices carefully and for a prolonged period but have never contacted the divine. The mystical event is a personal experience during which one feels as though one has been touched by some higher or greater truth or power. This may occur inside or outside of a religious setting, within or outside a religious tradition. "The most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical." Mysticism: Kshana - Time stands still when mind stops

Hindu mythology of creation talks about how the universe is created each time the Creator Brahma blinks! Millions of human years, called yuga, pass by between each blink of the Creator.

Sages of ancient India measured time through the concept of kshana. Kshana is not chronological time. It was not measured as the amplitude of a pendulum or the frequency of an electronic chip. Kshana was not generic time, but individual time. Kshana is the time between two thoughts. My kshana and your kshana are different.

Mysticism: Keep the Faith - Miracles happen!

Do miracles happen? Absolutely! They happen to all kinds of people all the time. They happen regardless of religion, gender or financial position. By definition, they have a magical unexplainable mystery element that's integral to how it came to be. Whatever that force is that causes such things to happen, it is awe inspiring.

Can you force miracles to happen by demanding them or by blackmailing your God with the underlying belief system that if your miracle isn't delivered then you're going to turn your back on your God? Definitely not. You can coax them by recognising them when they happen no matter how little they might be and by being thankful to whatever force you attribute them to. Mysticism: Birth and Death are Only Constructs in the Mind

They say that Life is only Existence visible. That birth and death are only constructs in the mind, two points in time, taken to be Reality by one ignorant of the true nature of the Self, the entity which expresses itself as Existence itself, the pure Consciousness.

"There is no such thing as death, it is only the body that dies. Can anyone ever say 'I am dead'? Who knows 'I am'?"

This knowledge-principle is the all-pervasive, it is ever-existent. It is the false identification with the body that is the cause of grief and sorrow.

Mysticism: The Three Keys To Happiness

Life has a way of taking unexpected turns - of throwing surprises at us when we least expect them. In many ways, life does bring one down. When unplanned and unexpected events come into our lives, they leave us in a state of pain, grief, doubt, fear and depression.

One feels the need for a strong and stable foundation that one can depend on when life's river takes unexpected turns. A simple formula is needed that can keep us grounded on the path and pointed in the right direction - that of flow, let go, forgiveness and happiness.

Here is just such a simple solution, presented in the form of three keys, that when remembered and practiced, keep us going in the right direction and while we walk the path, they also are the catalysts in bringing happiness.

Mysticism: Listen to the voice within

Every soul that is currently experiencing life on any level begins and ends as a whole. Our essence - the very core of our spiritual being - remains One with God. We always have been, and always will be, a part of �the whole' that is the God- consciousness level.

Our soul essence, which began as whole, remains whole throughout the soul growth process, and will still be whole when the growth process has been completed and we no longer leave the whole to pursue our own life studies. It is not that we, as spiritual beings in physical form, must learn something new in order to become whole, regardless of what aspect of our growth we may be working on. It is not that we need to make a 360 degree change in direction from the way we are living our lives now.

Mysticism: Discover your soul

The human species is a three part being - mind, body and spirit. The mind is what drives us, the spirit is our personality or ego, and the body is the vehicle that is used to experience the physical world. To experience physicality, one needs to be physical, it's natural then to be focused on the body and its needs.

Most all of our waking hours are centred on what the body wants to experience. There is nothing wrong with this arrangement, and it works flawlessly and on auto-pilot throughout our lifetimes with or without our awareness of what makes it tick.

Mysticism: Attracting Love

The Hebrew 'Kabbala' or 'Science of Prophets' is a book containing the ancient mysteries. The mystic diagrams in it have an esoteric meaning. The Solomon's Seal is one such mystic diagram. It helps to bring two people together. But there's a price to pay. You must be willing to let the person leave if that is his or her will. The Seal will not control. It can only send an irresistible attractive force to bring you together ... that simply means ... it can bring you together, but cannot keep you together.

Mysticism: Understanding Miracles

A miracle, metaphysically speaking, is never a mere coincidence - no matter how extraordinary or significant. If you miss a plane and the plane crashes, that is not a miracle unless God intervened in the natural course of events causing you to miss the flight!

A miracle is a supernaturally (divinely) caused event - an event (ordinarily) different from what would have occurred in the normal ('natural') course of events. It is a divine overriding of, or interference with, the natural order.

Mysticism: What Is A Miracle?

A miracle can be defined as an event contrary to, but not a violation of, a law of nature. If 'violation' is not being used in a technical sense, then a miracle can still be described as a violation of a law of nature - where 'violation' would mean something like "contrary to what could have happened had nature been the only force operative."

An event may be contrary to a law of nature without thereby invalidating it, if non-natural forces cause it. This follows from the fact that laws of nature do not describe, nor are they intended to describe, the logically possible. They only describe the physically possible.

Mysticism: Definition of Metaphysics

The term metaphysics originally referred to the writings of Aristotle that came to light after his writings on physics, in the arrangement made by Andronicus of Rhodes, about three centuries after Aristotle's death.

Traditionally, metaphysics refers to the branch of philosophy that attempts to understand the fundamental nature of all reality, whether visible or invisible.

It seeks a description so basic, so essentially simple, and so all-inclusive that it applies to everything, whether divine or human or anything else. It attempts to tell what anything must be like in order to be at all.

Mysticism: Find God in everything

We sometimes fear rejection when we express our needs to others. However, we have the promise from God that, when we ask, our needs will be heard. We will not be rejected. Everyone who asks, receives. Whoever searches finds, and those who knock have the door opened to them. We are often fearful that our prayers will not be heard or that they will not be answered in the ways we hope.

No choice in life is without a cost. Each decision to choose something necessarily costs us the option of keeping something else. In most cases having the cake and eating it is just an illusion.

In many cases we choose the wrong option. Without the power of foresight choice is a gamble, and as with most gambles odds are theoretically even. Since human nature is to mourn losses far more than celebrate gains, end result of a sequence of choices is mostly dissatisfaction. Why must we choose? Why can't we accept contradictions in life? Choices appear to give us freedom; in reality they constrain us instead of liberating us.

Mysticism: How to have a dialogue with God

Prayer is a conversation or dialogue with God and the art of prayer is knowing how to speak to and listen to God.

If communication is to deepen the relationship of faith, the matter of this conversation cannot be superficial small talk or even mind talk. It must involve a total sharing or encounter of persons.

To understand prayer as communication in an interpersonal relationship, it will be helpful for us to notice how human beings come to know and love each other through communication.

Mysticism: Some Esoteric Principles

Esoteric tenets of the established religions clearly state, among other things that "God is everywhere."

If we are to believe this statement, we then have to say, "Then God must also somehow be within that which is evil, including the Devil himself!"
