Mysticism | A resource on Mysticism | | Mysticism Mysticism is usually defined in dictionaries and encyclopedias as a spiritual discipline used to make contact with the divine. While this definition is frequently correct, there have been many people who have had mystical experiences without following a special discipline. Conversely, many people have followed a set of spiritual practices carefully and for a prolonged period but have never contacted the divine.
The mystical event is a personal experience during which one feels as though one has been touched by some higher or greater truth or power. This may occur inside or outside of a religious setting, within or outside a religious tradition.
"The most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical."

| Reosurces on Mysticism | | | | Mysticism The mystical aspect is very much much present in the work of The Golden Age foundation.
What is a mystical and transcendental experience?
- As we said in the beginning, we are suffering and searching for a meaning in life because we have not had this mystical experience. Our life is boring and we are always having the feeling that something is missing for us to be complete. Constantly we feel emptiness in our hearts and a feeling of alienation and loneliness. We may be with a group of friends or at work and feel that we do not belong to this place or to this group of people. In other moments I may be in a family party and still feel I don't belong here either, even though we are together there is something that divides us and makes me feel separated from others. I may be in a wonderful and beautiful place; in a mountain with vegetation around me and birds, wild animals and a pure river with crystal water flowing through it; but while I am there observing the landscape and the whole place I feel fine just for a moment, after a while I feel I am just passing by this place, I am a visitor, a pilgrim that always must go on in his way, again getting in touch with this sense of not belonging. There is something that does not let me engage with others and with the rest of the world. I may share certain things with others but there are so many things inside of me that I have never shared and I do not know if I ever will. This feeling of being individuals and of being separated from others is born from the lack of this transcendental and mystical experience. This makes us lose the experience of union and communion with others. So experiencing this union and communion with others is a transcendental and mystical experience. There are so many kinds of mystical and transcendental experiences, in fact they are unlimited and the main characteristic is that they are unique and very different from one person to another.
What can I do to have these mystical and transcendental experiences?
- Many people are craving for these mystical experiences. The question that we should ask ourselves is, from where comes the desire to have an experience of this kind?
Everybody has an access to such mystical experiences that free us from suffering and give us much joy and happiness in our life. We will receive these experiences immediately if the desire is born from the real need for a change in our lives, but if it is a simple wish born from curiosity, it could take a little bit longer.

 | | | Mysticism:
Theosophy Dictionary on Absolute
Absolute (from Latin ab away + solvere to loosen, dissolve) Freed, released, absolved; parallel to the Sanskrit moksha, mukti (set free, released), also to the Buddhist nirvana (blown out), all three terms signifying one who has obtained freedom from the cycle of material existence. Absolute, in European philosophy, is used somewhat loosely for the unconditional or boundless infinitude. On the other hand, Sir W. Hamilton (Disc 13n) considers the Absolute as "diametrically opposed to, . . . contradictory of, the Infinite," which is correct from the standpoint of both etymology and abstract philosophy. Blavatsky uses the term both ways: sometimes equating it with infinity, at other times with the first cause or one divine substance-principle. Strictly speaking, absolute is a relative term. It is the philosophic One or cosmic originant, but not the mystic zero or infinitude. An absolute or a cosmic freed one is not That (infinity), for infinity has no attributes: it is neither absolute nor nonabsolute, conscious nor unconscious, because all attributes and qualities belong to manifested and therefore noninfinite beings and things (cf FSO 89-90). The boundless or infinite, in which exist innumerable absolutes, includes the cognizer, the cognized, and the cognition, and is both matter and spirit, subject and object; all egos and non-egos are included within it. From the zero emanate an infinite number of cosmic Ones or monads. Every absolute is not only the hierarch of its own hierarchy, the One from which all subsequent differentiations emanate, but is also a cosmic jivanmukta, a released monad freed from the pull of the lower planes. Every monad at the threshold of paranirvana reassumes its primeval essence and becomes at one with the absolute of its own hierarchy once more. The absolute is thus the goal of evolution as well as the source, the highest divinity or Silent Watcher of the hierarchy of compassion, which forms the light side of a universe or cosmic hierarchy.

 | | | Mysticism:
New Age Spirituality
Dictionary on
Mysticism
Mysticism A word originally derived from the Greek and having a wide range of meaning in modern religion and philosophy. A mystic may be said to be someone who has intuitions or intimations of the existence of inner and superior worlds, and who attempts to achieve conscious communion with them and the beings inhabiting these inner and invisible worlds. From the theosophical or occult point of view, a mystic is one who has inner convictions often based on inner vision and knowledge of the existence of spiritual and ethereal worlds of which our outer physical world is but a manifestation; and who has some inner knowledge that these worlds or planes or spheres, with their hosts of inhabitants, are intimately connected with the origin, destiny, and even present nature of the world which surrounds us. The average mystic, however, is one who lacks the direct guidance derived from personal teaching received from a master or spiritual superior.

 | | | Mysticism: Save Your Spirit From Technology
Few people try to explore the frontiers of their consciousness. Their pleasure-seeking passion never permits them to sit quietly, wrote Soren Kierkegaard who revolted against the traditional religiosity of man. Agreeing with him, William James, the father of paranormal psychology opined that religion was like a thin verbal oil slick floating atop the deep ocean of mysticism.

 | | | Mysticism: The Power of Thoughts
Thoughts are things. You have probably heard this idea at one time or another. You have probably nodded your head in agreement, understanding that thoughts are in fact, things. You probably believe this and accept that your thoughts, being things, do in fact have power. Have you really thought about this? Do you apply this to your day-to-day life? Hopefully you do, because your every thought and word is contributing to your life experience. For openers, your thoughts produce your emotions, which, in turn, result in how you feel about a particular event occurring in your life.

 | | | Mysticism: Stop dissipating your energies
You are dissipating your energy out into existence through the personality, instead of using it to stay in your reality. The mask is kept on by energy going out. As you deny the projection of the personality, you conserve energy. When enough energy is retained, the mask collapses. It loses its independent and selfish existence. I'm going to show you where you're wasting this energy. Since you will then be conscious of it because you've seen it in your own experience, you'll begin to stop the leakage. You'll have more energy to address other wasteful mannerisms, attitudes and behaviour. Gradually you'll become more conscious, more responsible, more authentic. Your character will reveal itself and your personality will be less in control of your life.

Make it a habit to read something uplifting and inspiring every evening, even if it is for only a few minutes. Your "state of mind" determines how well you rest, and to what dimensional level you will journey during your sleep time. After you are in bed and just before falling asleep, take a few minutes to review your day. No judgements or recriminations - just be an observer!

 | | | Mysticism: Intelligence and Happiness
Intelligence does not in and of itself bring happiness. What brings happiness is acceptance. There is no purpose to intelligence, it is inherent within the energy of all that is. Intelligence and energy are one and the same. Energy is intelligence. Intelligence is energy. Happiness is a result of acceptance. Those who operate with greater mental constraints, for whatever reason, sometimes seem to have an easier time accepting their circumstances, their environment, and themselves, because they are not given to long- winded inner dialoguing and mental journeys into the various nuances of their perceived reality. And so a socalled simple minded person can shrug their shoulders and carry on, accept what is, and that is what creates the avenue for the experience of happiness.

 | | | Mysticism: You can look even with eyes closed
Q: How can we control the thought process? Sadhguru: "I want to control the thought," this itself is a thought. Once you get into this, trying to control the thought process, there is no end to it. It is an endless fight. One way is, the way of Isha Yoga; just let it be. Don't bother about it. Let it go on by itself. You be aware of it. Slowly it loses its momentum and it falls away. That's one way. Another way is what we are doing now. You control your prana. Ultimately, whether it is your thought or your heart or the cellular activity, whatever it is that is happening in the body and within you is primarily supported by the prana. If you control the prana, there is no more thought. FROM A DISCOURSE BY SADHGURU JAGGI VASUDEV

 | | | Mysticism: Communicating with Divinity
One tends to remember God, when one thinks he needs the Almighty the most i.e. at a time of difficulty. Most of the problems and difficulties that come upon us are created by other fellow human beings; and we try to either conquer the difficulty or the individual who we believe has caused it. Praying the right way helps us overcome this situation.
