Muslim Dictionary: Mysticism Magick Dictionary on KAMA LOKA

KAMA LOKA

The receiving station of the astral plane; the so-called "desire-world" where the dead first arrive. It is this place that the NDE people refer to as "the other side." It takes on the illusory character of anything the newly arrived spirit most desires. Muslims immediately believe they have entered Paradise, Xtians invariable encounter Jesus here. After a very short time, these errors of perception are corrected.

Muslim Dictionary: Social Studies Dictionary - Islam

Definition and meaning of Islam

Islam - [World History]

Islam is a religion based on the teachings of the prophet Mohammed which stressed belief in one god (Allah), Paradise and Hell, and a body of law written in the Koran and the Sunna. Followers of Islam are called Moslem (Muslim). The religion began in Arabia, in Mecca. There Mohammed had visions encouraging him to replace Arab paganism with Allah. He and his followers moved to Medina, gained strength and eventually returned to Mecca to carry out his obligation. In Mecca, the Kaaba was a sacred shrine, once home to many Arab gods; following Mohammed's return, it housed only Allah. Islam means "submission" and Muslims subscribe to the "Five Pillars of Islam." They believe that they follow Allah's will; pray five times each day toward Mecca, the holy city; perform acts of charity; fast during Ramadan; and make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lives. Worshipers of Islam gather in mosques to pray on Friday. Today, Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world, practiced by adherents in northern Africa (including Nigeria, the Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia), Europe (parts of the former Yugoslavia and Russia), southwest Asia, south Asia (Pakistan, Bangladesh), southeast Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia), central Asia (including parts of China), Uzbekistan, Kazakistan, and Tajikistan, and the United States.
