Buddhist Quotes: Wounded by a Poisoned Arrow
A man approached the Blessed One and wanted to have all his philosophical questions answered before he would practice. In response, the Buddha said, “It is as if a man had been wounded by a poisoned arrow and when attended to by a physician were to say, ‘I will not allow you to remove this arrow until I have learned the caste, the age, the occupation, the birthplace, and the motivation of the person who wounded me.’ That man would die before having learned all this. In exactly the same way, anyone who should say, ‘I will not follow the teaching of the Blessed One until the Blessed One has explained all the multiform truths of the world’-that person would die before the Buddha had explained all this.” - from the Majjhima Nikaya

| | | | Motivation Dictionary: Overcoming the Knowledge
Paradox with the EnneagramThe Enneagram is a good system of
self-assessment because it provides insight into our main unconscious thinking
and acting strategies. The word Enneagram literally means nine points. It is a
cosmological and psychological system represented by a nine-edged star-like
picture that touches a circle at nine equidistant points. Each of these nine
points represents nine types of human beings. This system was used by groups of
initiates of ancient Greek and Sufi cultures.
The Enneagram system was kept secret for
thousands of years. It was revealed to the public in the last century through
Gurdjieffs work. Since then it has been unfolded and adjusted to modern times
by many researchers.

Buddhist Quotes: Human Brothers and Sisters
A good motivation is what is needed: compassion without dogmatism, without complicated philosophy; just understanding that others are human brothers and sisters and respecting their human rights and dignities. That we humans can help each other is one of our unique human capacities. - His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Vedic Consecration to the Spiritual HeartA Vedic Consecration
to the Spiritual Heart
The heart
(hridaya) is the seat of the Self or Atman in Vedantic thought. Realization of
the Self in the heart is the main Vedantic formulation of Moksha or liberation.
The Upanishads laud the Self in the heart in many
verses and make it the object of many vidyas (ways of
knowledge). So do many other Vedantic texts up to modern times. When we refer
to ourselves we point to the heart. Compared to the heart, the mind is just our
computer system where we hold our information, not our real consciousness or
self-identity.

| | | | Motivation Dictionary: Feng Shui in BusinessBusiness Feng Shui
There are about 30 factors that influence or
determine our success in life. Of the 30, there are some that are predestined
or unchangeable. Then, there are adjustable factors. If we were to set these
factors on a scale, how do they rank in contributing to our success in life?
How can we improve certain factors to promote us? Feng shui is one of the
easiest accessible means of change that can be used to promote our well-being.
When our business has done all the promotion in the right markets and the
product or service is competitive, and yet business is slow, we need to
consider other factors that may be influencing it.

| | | | Motivation Dictionary: Towards Universal Peace And Hope
Despite continuing conflict, prejudices that once seemed inherent in our nature, are giving way. However, frequently, organised religion poses a formidable obstacle in the path, especially when fanatics seek credence from it. Yet, a lot has been achieved elsewhere: Women were generally regarded as inferior. But now, globally, the concept of equality of the sexes is a universally accepted principle. Nationalism faces a similar fate. One has to distinguish between patriotism that enriches one'slife, and submission to inflammatory rhetoric that provokes hatred and fear. Nationalistic rites are as often marked by feelings of awkwardness as they are by the strong convictions and enthusiasm of earlier times. The fetish for absolute national sovereignty is on its way out.

The following is an excerpt from the new book, The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober What is an Indigo Child? And why do we call them Indigo? First, the definition: An Indigo child is one who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and shows a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This pattern has common unique factors that suggest that those who interact with them (parents, in particular) change their treatment and upbringing of them in order to achieve balance. To ignore these new patterns is to potentially create imbalance and frustration in the mind of this precious new life. The subject of this chapter is to identify, qualify, and validate the attributes of an Indigo Child.

| | | | Motivation Dictionary: A FAMILY of YOUNG SOULS - health analysis
The incredible resource of Intuitive Health Analysis has advanced the art and science of psiology light years ahead of commonly-accepted modalities. Here we find the truth of thought as cause in action in the lives of men, women, and children of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities. These analyses describe what is occurring within the individual's psi. They reveal how specific patterns of thinking cause specific patterns of illness through mind and in the body. They also relate what will reestablish order within the individual's universe. From vibrations sounded mentally that will interrupt seizures and stabilize brain function to attitude adjustments which free mind and body from long-standing, stagnation-producing concepts to the mental and emotional state of the comatose, the research is astounding and deserves to be noted, explored, and utilized more widely.

| | | | Motivation Dictionary: The Path
of Work - Karma YogaKarma yoga is the yoga of action or work; specifically,
karma yoga is the path of dedicated work: renouncing the results of our actions
as a spiritual offering rather than hoarding the results for ourselves.
Karma is both action and
the result of action. What we experience today is the result of our karma--both
good and bad--created by our previous actions. This chain of cause and effect
that we ourselves have created can be snapped by karma yoga: fighting fire with
fire, we use the sword of karma yoga to stop the chain reaction of cause and
effect.
